Which LT tracks do you think will become singles?
gorast replied to RogueSoul's topic in Everything Linkin Park
LITE, COG, and I think POWERLESS will be one too. -
For some reason I can't picture Brad singing his part with a full beard. Like, I don't know why, but I just picture him singing completely clean-shaven. Maybe because his voice is so nasally that I feel like it doesn't fit with the hobo look he had going for MTM and most of ATS. This has been a post.

That's the EU release of the album, right? I'm pretty sure the Machine Shop label is still active over there, to answer Geki's question. Not completely sure though. And also, when I say "active", I mean "the logo is slapped on all of LP's releases for no reason." Mike mentioned a few years ago that he was looking into artists for a European revival of Machine Shop, but I don't think anything came of it. Machine Shop Marketing's Facebook page is also still active.

Really? Where'd you get it? All I ever see are the jewel case versions, and the CD/DVD digipak. It's why I'm glad I have the Super Deluxe edition.

gorast replied to hahninator's topic in Previous Show Discussion
LPA mentioned that LP is going on at 4:30 EST. Is there any truth to that or did they just pull a time out of their ass? -
You guys saw the picture of the CD from the other topic, right? Fucking hate jewel cases. This is why I didn't buy the retail version of ATS.
-
That video is the only version of this I ever found. Her delivery's not very good.
-
This is why jakolp is a sensible fan. When people say they didn't like ATS because they didn't like the way it experimented (not the fact that it experimented at all), I can accept and understand that. Though, I would say that MTM still counted as experimenting with their sound, because LP sure as hell were not "alternative rock" in the early days.

I searched the forum and there are a couple other topics similar to this one, but have a narrower focus (CD playlists for example) and are ancient. So, what this topic is is a place to post ANY Linkin Park playlists you have, be it on CDs, in iTunes, Windows Media Player if you're in the 90s, etc. Here are mine: DEMOS [3:41:57] Pretty much what the title implies, just a chronological playlist of demos from Reading My Eyes to Robot Boy (alt vocal). 1-4. Xero Demo Tape 5. Coal (1997) from LPUX 6. Rhinestone (1998) from The Crow (played in the background of one of the scenes) 7. Slip from LPU11 8. Blue from LPU 11 9. In the End from LPU 11 10. I Have Not Begun from LPUX 67. Robot Boy from LPU11 SESSION [4:03:41] This is my primary LP mega-playlist, weighing in at 72 tracks at its current revision. The original sequencing was based on Mike's parts in each song (whether he's absent, rapping, or singing), but I started to throw out that structure with the LIVING THINGS revision. Each section is bookended by several instrumentals that lead into the next section. All tracks are the originally released versions unless marked otherwise. 1. Opening 2. YO 3. Not Alone 4. AND YOU'RE DAMN WELCOME FOR IT But like, there's really a progression with Mike's ego, so to speak, from FM to ATS (because MTM didn't really have any self-centered rapping) to LT. With FM he's all "Yeah I'm here, I'm pretty good, but you know I'm not really trying to command or demand attention and recognition, just doin' what I like to do." With ATS he's like "You know what? Back the fuck up. I'm the shit, you need to realize that." And finally with LT he's like "Alright, look how great I am. I'm such a fucking boss. Fuck you." It's great.
-
Yes, thank you, thank you so much, preach that shit. Ever since FM, we've seen what Mike's really capable of, and I'm really glad that it's carried back over into LP. Especially on UNTIL IT BREAKS. I couldn't help myself.
-
It's probably just my brain messing with me, but I swear I heard "Linkin Park" twice in the sample. Can't tell what language it is, though.
-
Numb/Encore was what really sucked me in. What a great song.

LOST IN THE ECHO is a good, solid LP-formula track, with more electronica than what we're used to considering the formula. One thing I noticed is that the chorus is what gives the song its personal context; without them, Mike's verses could very well be a diss-track, throwing shit at all the LP haters. More or less. IN MY REMAINS is a lot stronger than I thought last night. I love Mike's vocals at the end. Super quality. This could very easily be a single, and it also has a home on MTM. BURN IT DOWN and LIES GREED MISERY aren't awful in the context of the album (the transition from IMR to BID in particular is pretty tasty) but I'm so sick of them right now that I just skip over them when I'm not interested in doing a full-album run. I'LL BE GONE isn't quite as lame as I thought, but I'm still fairly underwhelmed by it. Needs something more. CASTLE OF GLASS...hrm. I just...I'm not sure what I feel about this. I like the unconventional nature of the song, but it just...it isn't pulling me in, y'know? Oh well. VICTIMIZED. Holy shit. Every time this song comes up I have to keep myself from laughing because there's so much shit going on that just doesn't make sense in the context of LP. It's a brutal song, though. I think the band was hyping it up too much; perhaps not the heaviest song they've ever written, but it's certainly a giant punch to the face. Mike's second verse is still one of my favorites on the album. ROADS UNTRAVELED is probably my second-favorite song on the album. It's really a beautiful ballad, much better done than the ones on MTM. I love the mix of Chester and Mike's voices in the song, done much better than CASTLE OF GLASS. SKIN TO BONE is spooky and has that unconventional song structure similar to Robot Boy, which I like. It's definitely one of the stronger tracks on the album, even though it's pretty short and seems to fly by. UNTIL IT BREAKS is still my favorite track. I can't even articulate why. I was just...blown away by it. Yeah, fine, it's like four mini-songs stitched together, I'll give you bastards that. But Mike's verses and the way he drops them...This is easily the most hip-hop track they've ever made. Up until Brad comes in, that is. Speaking of his part, wow, dude doesn't suck at singing. I really hope they do the whole song live just so I can see Brad step up to the mic for a lead vocal. TINFOIL/POWERLESS are one track to me, I don't care what anyone else says. POWERLESS can stand fine on its own, but I prefer it to be preceded by TINFOIL in all my playlists. Initially, it came off as pretty whiny to me, typical HT/Meteora drivel. However, the more I listen to it, the more...mature it sounds, sort of. It could probably fit on Meteora, but the song also reflects the nine years between Meteora and LIVING THINGS. All in all, this album's sitting at #2 for me, with all five in this order: A Thousand Suns LIVING THINGS Minutes to Midnight Hybrid Theory Meteora LP did some good shit with LT. This should bring back at least a few fans, based on LITE and VICTIMIZED alone.

Make that motherfucker the lead singer, obviously. Chester who?

After probably ten or eleven run-throughs, my opinions have changed somewhat: LOST IN THE ECHO is a good, solid LP-formula track, with more electronica than what we're used to considering the formula. Wow, it seems like they genuinely enjoyed the recording process this time around. Nothing but fun in that video. Interesting to see the working titles. "Breaking Point" would've been a shitty title, glad they didn't go with that.
-
I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with your last statement - I do think it'll bring back some people who were hoping for another short collection of good songs. The electronic elements could be a turn off, but I think a lot of people will be happy with this album. Welcome to LPL, btw. Hope you stick around.
-
Sounds like what people thought of blink-182's most recent album. I see where you're coming from with that.
-
I want Rob to do the bass drum beat in VICTIMIZED live. Talk about double bass. Actually, you know what, that entire drum part. The whole thing is insane.
-
Got through the whole album. Ho-ly shit. Right now the only songs I was underwhelmed by are I'LL BE GONE and VICTIMIZED. (Is it still the cool thing to use the all-caps titles? because I'm going to do that forever.) Mike's verses are...damn. Asking where Fort Minor went? Take a fucking look at UNTIL IT BREAKS, kids. I don't know what fucking band wrote VICTIMIZED, but it wasn't LP. Mike was doing some Matisyahu-esque rapping on that second verse, though. Weird shit. Fire Chester and put Brad on lead vocals. Can you imagine his nasally-ass voice screaming "BOUNCE MOTHERFUCKERS"? TINFOIL into POWERLESS reminds me a whole lot of Empty Spaces into When They Come for Me, because TINFOIL is basically the verse of POWERLESS without vocals and with an additional piano melody. Speaking of POWERLESS, damn, those lyrics have a home on Hybrid Theory. It goes to show how tolerable the lyrics are when Chester's not screaming over power chords, though. One of my favorite songs from the album. All in all, this won't beat ATS. But this is exactly what LP said it would be - one damn good album.
-
But it was working for- ...Oh. It probably picked up my copy of the album. Oops. Well, it's there, in any case.
-
And now Spotify has pulled the trigger. Bad day for LP.
-
It's not up for me, but in other news, Spotify pulled the trigger and put up LIVING THINGS.
