Oh shit that sounded good. That's definitely not rapping either as reported earlier. Its aggressive singing/screaming. I love when chester shows emotion like that.
-
Doesnt make them the same.
So that makes it okay? You all hate on artists who use auto-tune and now LP uses a similar effect but its okay because they're "genre busting" now?
-
Mike explained how the vocals were effected, yet people are still saying it's auto-tune.
Mother flanger...
hmm, maybe because they sound pretty much the same?
-
This album sounds bad. Auto-tune, political, poppy, dancy= meh.
Doesn't sound like Mike is rapping very much either for putting his FM energy into this album.
Edit: You say this is like FM huh? I'm intrigued again despite how bad the reviews seem to me.
-
This just goes to show that casual music fans have bad taste in music. I'm not surprised though, LP changed themselves to completely cater to the top 40 crowd.
-
Selling out? Really? Just because they play what they want and not what whinny kids like you want they are selling out?
I'm not a whiney kid. Unlike most of you, I'm actually old enough to have been around to attend LP shows when they first started up.
-
i can give you a list of band who changed their sound COMPLETELY and were hated for it, and now years after those very changes that were despised are now applauded by fans and critics alike.
I don't mind change but not a change towards selling out.

"The Catalyst" was a waste of $1.29 for me.
This will get lost in a sea of replies that say "epic", but the Shinoda/Rubin era is the worst period in Linkin Park's history to date.
To me, Linkin Park represent simple rock music. They'll tell anyone who will listen that they should be taken seriously and respected, because, hey, look, we've got Rick Rubin and don't talk about song meanings, but it's all a crock of shit. Power chords, solid drumming, scratching, rapping and screaming are what Linkin Park do best. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, they should stick to what they know and expand upon it. "Reanimation" made sense. "Meteora" was a logical follow-up. But when I tell people I'm a Linkin Park fan, and a member of the Underground and Street team since the beginning, I shudder at the thought of them accociating LP with the designer clothes fashion shoots, piano remixes, and rap-is-crap attitude the band adopted once Rubin came into the picture.
PS: It's not all hate. The second half of the song is amazing, even though it feels unfinished, much like the second half of "Little Things"
This. LP apologists can't stand people telling the truth.

This is an amazing song and anyone who thinks otherwise really needs to look at what they are currently listening to. A song does not need a lot guitar to be good. Go look @ A7X, TDG, Shinedown, 10 Years, or Chevelle for heavy guitars. If you don't like electronic beats or plenty of Mr. Hahn then LP is no longer a band for you. LP has evolved into something that cannot be described. I don't want to call this rock and I don't wanna call this techno. They succeeded in being 'genre busting'. Thank you Linkin Park. You have truly outdone yourself this time.
This is called top 40 pop. Nothing genre busting about it. They lost their uniqueness. Total failure for LP.

The song is terrible. No major differences from the MOH trailer.
-
will be the same song just with the others lyrics ¬¬
i hate it, fucking beats,
and the worst part is that mike say that he maked their better beats.
the album will have alot of beats ¬¬
right now is good say "god bless us everyone"
Even Jesus doesn't like it. Confirmation that The Catalyst sucks.
-
I don't know, wouldn't it make more sense to say "Its not the complete version" then instead of "its not official"? for me it sounds like "we didn't make the song like this, its not our work".
Lets hope so. Although, I think there's a 0 percent possibility of that happening.
-
I'm glad about this. Someone write this down so next time I complain they can't say you're always negative, don't you say anything positive?
-
i personally thought blackbirds was okay. i would like it a lot more if mike weren't in it, but all favoritism aside, i think it's silly they're releasing it like this. i mean i'm sure most fans already have the 8-bit version so why would we pay for it again?
The quality they released was crap. This would be a high quality rip which in my opinion is a good thing.
-
Blackbirds as a song sucks. IMO. I don't understand why they would include it as a bonus track for ATS?
It sounds a lot better than the catalyst does.
-
They've definitely cut out parts of the songs I just don't know if they edited it in some other way.But anyways in that short form I like the song. It's true that it's different but I'm glad they're not going on using the same sounds over and over again like for example Nickelback (I'm sorry btw I don't mean to offend Nickelback fans,I like them too). Will you prefer 5 albums that sound exactly the same?I wouldn't.So my point is yes it's different but I like it and at some parts I actually love it.I think all the doubters about it will grow to like it after a few listens.
Change can be good, but then again change can be bad. In this case I think its rubbing people the wrong way. I've heard enough of the song to know I'll never like it.
-
I dont care how you call it, i just dont like it. They didnt have to use it at all.. But i dont wanne get into a fight here so lets just drop it eh..
+1. I'd much rather the track without the pitch correction or whatever classification there is for it.
-
There isnt any auto-tune on it at all. They each can hit those notes there is no point for them to be auto-tuned. Mike has a filter over his voice if thats what you mean
It sounds almost the same which kills the song for me. Its really annoying to hear and very disappointing to see LP use that.
-
I'm pretty sure people can judge the song by now, i mean.. u got 4minutes of it.
This version is probably really similar to the radio version. Definitely enough content to fairly judge the track.
-
People stop lamenting !! Stop crying ! this is just for the trailer. tomorrow is the day . And still it's your choice of liking it or not . Everybody has his own taste
Don't worry be happy
You think the missing minute of the song is really going to change peoples opinion on it? You can get the general vibe of the song by this clip. Repetitive lyrics, vocal enhancements, tehcno like beat. Nothing mature about this. Very MEH.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, you have your new Linkin Park.
Yuck. I really hope the single just sucks. I can't even listen to this and pretend to enjoy it.
-
If the album sounds like that remix then fuck. Not interested. I'm thinking that isn't the case though.
-
If you really think that, why the hell are you here?
There's nothing wrong with asking for more b-sides. Mike reads these boards. Making it known what the fans want does pay off from time to time.
-
Why doesn't Mike save the beat making for the next Fort Minor record, and play some damn instruments.
Mike's rapping is critical to LP's success. He's versatile and can do both just fine.

Singles generally are the worst(shallowest) songs on albums because they have to cater to the general population. That's why I'm reserving hope for this album. I've already listened to this Blackout clip more than I've listened to TC.
