A lot of thoughts here.

 

The trailers and the editing of the SIB live video are phenomenal, and the crowd is sensational in Sao Paulo. What a shame all these songs aren't being released in video, as the SIB edit has a cinematic feel to it which is fresh in the LP world. There was clearly a lot of attention to detail on the video editing itself. So we may see one more video or something from this and then that's it video-wise from the actual show...? Imagine if the entire show in this editing format made it to Amazon Prime or something.  Seriously, hats off on the SIB edit.

 

As far as the movie itself, it looks to be put together quite nicely - a very long form LPTV in a way of 2022-now footage. There already appears to be a LOT of interesting footage we have never seen before. Interestingly they have the Esaul 1999 rehearsal in the trailer too if you noticed. Since Rob's departure was not mentioned in the synopsis of the film (while understanding he left LP over 3 years after Chester passed), it was good that he was featured in the trailer. His departure in the band is just as important to mention as Chester's passing when telling the story of LP as a band, even if the story of this film is really 2017-2024 with a major focus on 2022-now. Let's see how they address his departure in the movie itself as that's a big part of the LP story post-2017.

 

We all still hope to see Rob again one day and hope he pops up at something - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc, but it seems quite unlikely. All a shame despite Colin picking up and performing very well with the band.

 

The tracklist of the soundtrack is to be expected - all singles and new songs. No one really thought they'd release the entire thing on the soundtrack. Their nod to the hardcore fans for a deeper cut may be Leave Out All The Rest which was only performed 10 times in 2024 and 2 times in 2026. Honestly the only piece that feels like it was missing as a major highlight of the 2024 show is My December and that's slightly disappointing to see it didn't make the cut, but at least the show was broadcasted (which we have) and the band put out an amazing one from Hamburg 2024 as well. It would have been nice to get that song, but it's understandable they'd cut a handful of songs from the show. How about no One Step Closer for the first time - wild, right?

 

Is there any news on the score by Alec Puro? Is that going to be released?

 

Hoping they decide to put a full show out in video eventually from the From Zero tour. Missing elements from this show like Mike's solo, My December, the other rotation songs like Lost in the Echo.... it would be nice to see those songs out in some form or fashion eventually. Castle of Glass. This was probably the only chance to get Friendly Fire live released; just now remembering Keys to the Kingdom didn't even make it to South America, or the fall run at all in 2024... it got cut in Arlington. We are always going to have this problem; if they cut Somewhere I Belong but not Lying From You, we'd ask for the other. If they put My December but not Leave Out All The Rest, we'd ask for the other song there too. And we SHOULD have this problem if we are hardcore fans of a band and want every song released.

 

For what this is, the first live release by the band with Emily and Colin, it serves its purpose and will be a great listen. Now moving forward we can hope for more From Zero era shows to be released (if this one in full won't be on video at any point, which it SHOULD as they have it filmed and the performance + crowd both rock big time), and other shows in future era. They could have put all 27 songs up on 4 vinyls and raked in some good money from the LPU fans but that probably wasn't the goal with this (as much as we want it) as the live songs are just a bonus to the movie itself. Looking forward to the movie and with Joe behind it, it's going to be awesome.

It seems the movie will be 1 hour and 50 minutes long.

 

The Brazilian ticket website ingresso.com already has a dedicated page for ticket sales in Brazil, and it has already listed the movie's runtime.

 

It's important to mention that this website handles ticket sales for almost all movie theaters in Brazil, as well as some concerts, so it's a reliable source.

 

I don't know if their runtime information is completely accurate, but it's definitely a strong indication.

Random thoughts 

 

*Hopefully Rob appears during the beggining of the film would be great if they just don't delete him.. he was still part of the rebuild his story matters.

 

*Extremely weird that a film is named after a song and that song is nowhere in the soundtrack or trailer.. Hopefully it appears during the film

 

*Pretty sure that they'll release a bluray with the film after the movie release and they should add the full show (video plus audio)

Is anyone else finding it quite funny that the movie is releasing in the Screen X and 4DX formats?

 

I would have to assume that these theatrical format feature sets would primarily be activated during any live show scenes.

 

I doubt very much that the seats are going to move, wind will be blown at you, water sprayed in your face, etc, while the band is talking in the studio or being interviewed 🤣

during the interviews in the studio they throw you paper reports, pens and USBs

 

PS: We all know that in a couple of months everyone we're going to make edits of the Sao Paulo streaming show with the official audio.

@Rasputin 93 came up with the idea after Unshatter was announced yesterday and we did it immediately haha. Easy as that.

That album cycle has always been particularly special to me because it was the first one I experienced from beginning to end as a fan. We know they created around 100 to 150 ideas, with around 30 reaching an advanced stage. Considering that songs like Not Alone, Pretend to Be and The Last Line came from those sessions, it's easy to imagine that some of those 30 were much closer to finished songs than we think.

 

But what makes me especially interested as well it's all the entire transitional period from 2003 to 2005 as well. The material they initially abandoned because it sounded too much like the old Linkin Park as well. That could be where some of the biggest surprises are hiding. Then songs like Grecian, the seventeenth song, Chester's No Roads Left, unreleased making-of footage, Summer Sonic 2006, Webster Hall, Rock am Ring 2007 and so on. I’ve been reading Linkinpedia nonstop, trying to learn everything they have so much unreleased material from that era

Did you guys also notice that the photo they posted for Chester's birthday this year was from the MTMera Do you remember?
I've always held out hope, and these little details keep me hopeful.
Beyond the demos we all know the band has, it would be amazing if the SS06 DVD finally got released, RAR 07, any PR08show with Chris Cornell singing "Crawling."
A show from the 2008 European tour where they played "Reading My Eyes" would be incredible, too.

Wow, that reminds me of HT20 when that trailer came out, and when all the M20 puzzles were released—I really appreciated those launches.

I really hope we get an MTM20 box set; it’s so close now. I hope the band treats us to another amazing box set.

As a guitarist, I like the mix of SIB here. For years and years, live recordings always mixed Brad as sort of a lead guitar and then Mike's chords were barely audible.

This is way closer to the album mix. Big, all-encompassing power chords that fill out the mix and then the octaves (Brad/Alex) make chord extensions on those power chords.

 

It does sound a little off in the bridge though, where Alex's guitar should have been mixed higher. But it is still preferable to a lot of mixes of SOB throughout their career.

 

Emily sounds amazing here. I love the grit and intensity. I think she scaled back on that and became more clean nowadays, maybe due to all the touring (still sounding great tho).

 

Excited for the movie too! I do get fans pointing out that Unshatter is not on the setlist, but the name itself is obvious. LP shattered in 2017 and this movie shows the process of them "unshattering".

Maybe some of the recording of the song will be shown in the movie too, because it seems like it was a pivotal moment in choosing Emily.

 So since the CD price in Germany (21,99€) seemed kinda high to me I did some digging and compared it to other releases of bigger artists this year. I've always looked at prices in the artist's own shop so it is a fair like-for-like comparison. The closest CD release I found price-wise was Dua Lipa's live album at 18,99€ which includes her whole set on 2 CDs. Any other regular CD release I looked at was cheaper.

Kinda sad to see a premium price tag on a release that I consider a compromise (i.e. not containing the whole show). I don't see any information on their product listing that would justify that higher price.

In general I think the sound of the mix is great though. Alex' guitar just needs to be louder and it would be a 10/10 in my opinion.
