2026.06.05 - Rock am Ring 2026 (+ Livestream)

Emily's general tone is to die for, the way she delivers those choruses is just so full of tone, rasp and distortion in the right ways.

I know LP loved her screaming for exactly not being the typical metalcore, generic, YouTube-lesson screaming. More of a hardcore yell, like some old 90's hardcore records. I respect that choice a lot.

At the same time, nerdy as it is, I hope for LP that they do get her a screaming vocal coach. She sometimes falls into a very healthy, sustained way of screaming, that is not gonna damage her general tone. It's kind of frustrating, becuase it's clearly right there for her.

 

She has the ability to do these things, she just needs to hone it. If she doesn't do this, and kind of just hopes for the best, I could see it damage her chords long term and thin out her general tone on the rest of the singing. That would be really sad.

 

Anyway, of course I am just an arm chair expert here, but I've just seen it happen to a lot of my favorite vocalists over the years.

I feel like there were a ton of technical issues in the opening. They had mic-issues as well here and there. At least it looked like it on the stream.

The concert isn't available in the Magenta TV library yet either. Maybe it will be edited and then posted online. Let's hope so.

Let me tell, being there, in section A.

I grew up watching LP at Rock Am Ring so it was a matter of time to resolve it. The timing was perfect.

Usually, you may be lucky to get into section A at Rock Am Ring after each performer, but after Papa Roach it seemed that the crowd got even tighter, it seemed that nobody got out. It was jam packed. You don't get this packed on stadium concerts. If you get panic attacks easily, this is not for you. I saw some people crying. 

 

Let's get to the serious stuff: I was hoping to open with With You for the 25th RAR LP Anniversary, but we never saw it played in, like, a decade.

 

When I first heard that intro from RAR 2001, my mind went crazy. I yelled at the people around me: "Fuck! With You..." I tried to open up the pit but I had no experience in doing so - being so fully jammed, you literally had to push people to get the pits going. But we managed to control the pit by the end of With You and after that we flied. 

And then A Place for My Head was absolutely magical... Let's not forget Two Faced... What an awesome experience it was. It was just as I hoped it would be, but better because at the end of Faint I managed to do my very first crowd surfing.

 

Side note: the audio on the Ring seemed off, but I saw today that the wind influences the sound of the speakers a lot. The speakers are not secured to the ground, so every movement of them resulted in some bad audio levels. 

 

P.s. I'll be in the LPU Pit in Vienna with Early Entry (it will be my first EE ever - do people usually run to the stage, or they walk respectfully ?)

This is actually an interesting aspect to consider on why the fans seemed so static at times. Wind levels at Rock am Ring can influence the sound in a really bad way. It can throw you off because it sounds disjointed on an ever-changing level.

There were better singers like bobby amaru he has similar sound he could have been chosen one rather emily and mike has also worked with him but he has voice still different enough to be not like Impersonation and could be well suited to perform all of songs in live shows emily sounds way poorly I have to raise the volume of sound of my loudspeaker but still can't listen her voice

I think you keep skiping the part where Mike said numerous times that the most important thing about a singer, every singer, was to be able to get along. 

I saw The Pretty Reckless yesterday at Rock Am Ring, and Taylor Momsen sounded fucking amazing, but it looks like she clearly have some problems. It looked to me like she was like Chester in pre-2007 era... It will be a shame for music if she relapses and dies ahead of time.

Rewatched the Papa Roach set from this show.

 

Love the Nu Metal Time Machine part they do - really cool and then it goes into Last Resort. They are a great live band and would be much better than a lot of the bands LP took out this cycle, besides PVRIS.

Oh, man, that Nu Metal Time Machine was so dope. I'm still hurting from those A section mosh-pits. 

 

I was alone from Romania but I have made at least 7 great german friends. 

Everyone was super nice.

She does have a song called "25", where she thinks she wouldn't have lived past that age, so...

Let's hope she gets all the help she needs
