Released in the US on November 22, 2005, Fort Minor's sole studio album "The Rising Tied" will be turning 20 years old at the end of 2025. In the past few years we have seen Linkin Park's first two studio albums, "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora," turning 20 as well and, to celebrate, each album received a box set containing numerous previously unreleased songs, demos and live recordings along with newly edited documentaries. In celebration their 15th anniversary, the Linkin Park album "Minutes To Midnight" and the Dead By Sunrise album "Out Of Ashes" have also received special releases with additional content in recent years. This has led many fans to question whether The Rising Tied will be following this same pattern.

The last activity from the Fort Minor project dates from 2015 and all subsequent solo work from Mike Shinoda has been released under his own name, which suggests that Fort Minor is pretty much done at this point. Being the only studio album released under that name, The Rising Tied was reissued in 2023 with all the bonus tracks from the original special edition and tour edition of the album as well as the 2015 single 'Welcome,' which had never been a part of any album before.

The inclusion of 'Welcome' in this latest collection opens the possibility for more material recorded around that era to be included on a potential 20th anniversary edition of "The Rising Tied."

Although the project only materialized one studio album, many other recordings have been released in other formats under the Fort Minor name, like the long requested "We Major" mixtape, which is currently unavailable on digital platforms; the Fort Minor Militia (official fan club) exclusive tracks, which were never released anywhere outside the long gone FMM website; and the Sessions@AOL live EP, which is exclusively a digital release and doesn't include the full show. Also worth noting are collaborations and miscellaneous tracks released by Fort Minor collaborators such as:

  • Trades Of The Tools ("Tools Of The Trade" Parody) [From MySpace] - Space Invadas (DJ Cheapshot & Vin Skully)
  • The Battle (Extended Mix) [From The Gatalog] - Celph Titled feat. Mike Shinoda
  • Cover & Duck (Demo) [From The Gatalog] - Celph Titled feat. Styles Of Beyond & Mike Shinoda
  • Hey You (From Razor Tag) - Styles Of Beyond feat. Mike Shinoda
  • Hard (MS Remix) [From Razor Tag] - Styles Of Beyond
  • Second To None (From Razor Tag) - Styles Of Beyond feat. Mike Shinoda
  • Magic Doors (Portishead Remix) [From YouTube] - Mike Shinoda, SoB & Green Lantern
  • Remember The Name (Cheapshot Remix) [From Cheapshot's Poo Poo Platter] - Fort Minor feat. Styles Of Beyond
  • Remember The Name (Kaschke & Mauer Remix) [Remix Contest Winner]

Back when the Fort Minor Militia exclusive songs were being posted, the person in charge of uploading these songs commented in May 2006 that there were "several more songs," but after 'Move On' was released the following month, the releases stopped. Some of the known Fort Minor titles that remain unreleased are:

  • Watch Their Mouth [Seen in The Making of The Rising Tied]
  • Tampa Finals [From unreleased "Street Dreams" soundtrack]
  • Most Kings
  • Diamonds
  • Episodes
  • Player
  • Organized
  • Traffic
  • Zion
  • YO

This could also be the perfect opportunity to release some long requested hip-hop collaborations from Mike Shinoda recorded up to 2005 such as 'Whatever The Fuck' (Mike Shinoda & Ryu of S.O.B.), 'Unreleased' (Visionaries feat. Mike Shinoda & Mr. Hahn), 'Mike Shinoda Freestyle' (DJ Vice feat. Mike Shinoda) and collaborations with LMNO, Chali 2na and DJ Whoo Kid for which the titles are unknown. Back when 'Welcome' was released, Mike Shinoda also mentioned he would be using a verse recorded by Ryu on a remix of the song.

As for live recordings, there are plenty of options for a potential release as many shows were partially streamed online or partially broadcasted on TV. This would be the chance to finally release them in full. These are:

Another idea is a compilation of TV and web performances, many of which never surfaced in good quality or are currently considered to be lost:

It's also worth mentioning that Ethan Mates mixed the Fort Minor show at The Exchange on June 29, 2015 for a release that never happened. Note that this doesn't suggest there's a video recording of the show, but it does confirm an audio recording.

Other potential video content for a "The Rising Tied" box set would be The Rising Tied Limited Edition DVDFort Minor Militia DVDFort Minor Militia Exclusive Videos and Official Music Videos. More detailed information can be read here.

Do you think there will be a "The Rising Tied" 20th anniversary edition?

If so, will it be a box set or a smaller release?

What would you include in it?

As I mentioned earlier in another thread, I think these anniversary editions were only released because of the band's hiatus. I have my doubts if they would want to release something similar, considering they are focused on From Zero.

However, our chances might improve because when The Rising Tied turns 20, From Zero will already be over a year old, and the tour will have ended (based on the announced dates). So, I believe we have a small but real possibility.

What I find amazing about Fort Minor is that there’s so much material for a project that only had one album. Besides that, the songs left out of the album are just as good as the ones that made it in. Without a doubt, Fort Minor is my favorite side project, and could have a really cool box set.

Tbf other active bands have been releasing anniversary editions of their albums, like Green Day, Muse, Evanescence, etc.

The biggest question mark is if Warner is going to think that it's a marketable project. A boxset has a high target price and even if the rising tied is cult for many LP fans it doesn't have the attraction of a LP studio album. I hope the rising tied 20 happens but I doubt it will be on such a large scale as the one proposed above. I'm much more confident on MTM20 happening

I'm impressed I didn't knew that there was so much material, both released and unreleased. But again, I'm skeptical about this release and it has nothing to do with the "main" band.

Besides Remember the Name, I don't remember that the album was a HUGE success. By no means a failure, but not enough to justify a gargantuan boxset like we've seen in the past years. Besides the hardcore fans, not many people are gonna be interested in some parallel project from 20 years ago.

We would be lucky if we had some sort of 2CD edition or something like that.

Where'd you go was a big single in 2006, charting real high on billboard hot100. In the early days it was a bigger success than Remember the name, but remember the name staying power made the difference over the years. You are right tho imo. The rising tied is a success (certified platinum) but it's not huge as hybrid theory, Meteora or MTM. I hope that the 2023 vinyl reissue of the rising tied sold well so it can can entice warner to do the anniversary edition

The only reason The Rising Tied didn't achieve the same success as those three albums you mentioned is that it wasn't released as a Linkin Park album.

Imagine Chester singing some of the songs and it being marketed as a Linkin Park album. It might have ended up being the third most important album in the band's discography due to a potential massive commercial success.

That's why I find it very naive when people on social media say that Linkin Park should have come back under a different name. The Linkin Park brand is huge, and The Rising Tied is an example of that because it's one of the best albums we have, yet it's not as widely remembered outside of our fan community.

well, imo Rising Tied surely deserved a boxset, it had so many songs that didn't make the cut, scrapped, or that we don't even know about.

my favs FM songs are Feel Like Home and 100 Degrees, and it sucks that the only version available of the track is with a annoying ass DJ talking on top of it................

i was going to start the thread, as soon as @lpliveusername mentioned it on the shoutbox, but i didn't had the stuff that was originally planned for the thread.

but now i've managed to collect the stuff, big thanks to @Capacity for helping me out by removing some of Mike's dialogue (my UVR suddenly was uninstalled/corrupted) lol.

this is a collection of sounds from unreleased songs that we know the title so far... so here it goes.

following this order

  • FM 808 Most Kings
  • FM Clap Most Kinds
  • FM Crash Most Kings
  • FM Kick Organized
  • FM Loop Diamonds 100bpm
  • FM Loop Episodes 93bpm
  • FM Loop GUITAR Most Kings 95bpm
  • FM Loop Most Kings 95bpm
  • FM Loop Player 103bpm
  • FM Loop Tamb Player 103bpm
  • FM Ride Most Kings
  • FM Snare Most Kings
  • FM Snare Organized
  • FM Snare Traffic
  • FM Snare Zion
  • FM Tamb Organized
  • FM Yo HAt
  • FM Yo Snare

I would like a box set like this, so many materials can be released.

The show at Summer Sonic would be so amazing Chester goes on stage to sing.
Just like I think Linkin Park should continue releasing boxes like MTM20 and ATS20.

Absolutely, Lp were the biggest band in the world in 2004/2005, anything they touch became gold. Even a Enjoy the Silence Remix had an impressive amount of airplay! They could have done a Collision Course tour and make an stadium tour. So yeah, basically in 2005 they "lose momentum" by not touring. Even though they deserved a break, of course.

Knowing the huge backlash that every LP album since Meteora got, it's a great thing that the rising tied was released by Mike as Fort Minor. It could not have been a LP album as it is, there's not enough "room" for Chester. It would not have met "fans" expectations back in 2005. Maybe it could have been accepted as "linkin park" after OML.

No doubt the album would be completely different if the band, especially Chester, had been involved. It was just an exercise of imagination.

A tour with Jay-Z would have been a massive commercial success in 2005, indeed.

I disagree. The album had a good promo and good sales. Vinyl is available in several colors in different years.

I didn't say the album wasn't successful in sales. What I meant was that The Rising Tied was less popular than Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes to Midnight. I was comparing it to those three albums!

Where did you find these samples? They sound cool!

Edit: Also, I think I was able to figure out a loop idea for "Most Kings", using the samples you provided: https://voca.ro/197mxrEGwoTO

not sure about this

the LP fan base prefers rock oriented music, a full hip hop album would have been a flop.

thats why MTM was still a success it still had heavy songs, screaming and a bit of rapping.

it's the opposite for me. MTM was bashed heavily because the lacks of rapping. that's what fans noticed at the first place. it's huge contrast between Meteora & MTM. yes, rock loud music still there in MTM but rap verse it's like the missing ingredients. "the lack of Mike rapping what makes MTM boring, try to make solid rock record but failed attempt", i remember i read somewhere bout the music blogger back in the days commenting bout it.
