martinez
iTunes has fucked up release dates before. They have the LT Instrumental/Acapellas as a day before LT even came out. It's not only in iTunes, a few stores also have this "problem" and it's not only this album but all different versions of the same album. Basically it's looks like this - when the different version of the same album is released it has the same release date as a standard version, or the date really close to standard version. Example: The Hunting Party: Acapelas + Instrumentals was officially released on August 12, after a couple days the release date was changed to Jun 16. Another examples: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/meteora-collection-digital/id207921131 https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/hybrid-theory-digital-video/id207952645 this two albums was released in 2010! Never heard of this Technics Tracks service before, no idea if it's legitimate or if they're just re-encoding the CD audio and trying to pass it off as "HD." However, all 8 of those same releases (minus the GATS single) are also on HDTracks, which I'd highly recommend, it's much more reputable. They're all in 24-bit quality at at least 44.1k. Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Minutes to Midnight, and A Thousand Suns are in 48k, while The Hunting Party is available at 96k (!!!). http://www.hdtracks.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=linkin+park You don't necessarily need a high-end audio system to hear the difference, as long as you've got audio drivers on your computer that don't screw with the EQ of tracks when you play them back (like Beats Audio) and a good pair of studio-quality headphones with an authentic frequency response, you can still hear the difference. Thanks for the answer. All 8 releases have now links to hdtracks. Yes 96k quality of THP album is available only on hdtracks.com. The 24-bit quality is also available on qobuz and 7digital. Astat
I have to say, I'm really impressed with how low-key Screaming Giant has been about the Snax/Linkin Park connection over the years. They could very easily hype the hell out of it and try to boost sales, but they've always treated their two albums the same as anything else in their back catalog. Very modest and respectful of them. It would be great to have the source link to each release. Here's the information that I discovered. After I checked this source deeper I came to the conclusion that it's actually nothing special, but anyway - it's about "Global Sound Recording Database", where you can find information about almost all Linkin Park digital & phisical releases. For example, let's take one of the release from the list: • Minutes To Midnight // {-12tr- + MTM audio commentary, Behind The Scenes (Video), What I've Done (Video), Digital Booklet, cat. 075993999907} [D] [L] If you copy and paste catalog numbeher there, you will see full tracklist (usually it doesn't have the right order) and release date of it with UPC/ISRC codes. Not everything is there. I was try to get imformation about ISRC code which I have from Burning In The Skies promo CD, but I didn't find anything. The same with the codes from LPU 15 B-monthly tracks. There are also releases about which we don't know anything, like for example this one: My thoughts on that are: - it was prepared for release but didn't appear in the sales (like it was for example with "Blackbirds" single) or: - the release was available but only for really short time and it was removed for no reason (something like this happened with 3-track version of the Lost In The Echo digital single, which was released on October 10 and it was available for one week only and then removed from the stores) I think this can be a good source If we looking for a correct release date. EDIT: very often there is no correct release date at all or for the very first release. Edited November 8, 2018 by martinez
Skipees
What a great find. A few things I've found out: - Leave Out All The Rest from Twilight soundtrack is 3:20 and listed separately from the single version (3:19) even noted as "Twilight Soundtrack Version" (USWB10807374 | 075678970115). - There's an instrumental version of Walking Dead by Z-Trip listed there (USHR10521562 | 720616252166). - 16 out of 19 songs from Stone Temple Pilots with Chester's Biloxi show are listed there (Big Bang Baby, Silvergun Superman and Hollywood Bitch aren't). There's a release date "2013-12-27" but not an actual release name. - We Major: "Green Lantern Intro" is listed there as "Introduce" and "Outro" as "We Major". Digital streaming gets the ISRC codes, but I don't think they "need" EAN or UPC codes since these are barcode methods for stuff on sale. In your question you've used the word "available" and I think this is the tricky part because I guess you're getting these codes before the actual release, meaning that if the release was canceled the tracks still has the EAN/UPC codes even if one unit haven't sold yet. So this release from your example wasn't available for purchase but meant to be one.
