No, because if new music is coming he's gonna be pretty silent, because that's a big deal no matter what. And you could still have a new singer for a limited tour, so the idea of this being a "limited run" vs an indefinite comeback would still jive w the original leak being intentional as well
-
"Be a part of something" is interesting and also has me feeling a bit unsure about our assumptions. Like I'm beginning to think more along the lines of this being a one-time tour or festival run, maybe with a new song or EP on streaming to coincide, but not something that is indefinite. Like, I'm not getting my hopes up for it to be an indefinite comeback yet. I'm thinking it's gonna be a limited run/celebration, maybe with content from fans similar to Mike's Open Door campaign back in the day

I'm disappointed but having fun. That said, I think this is why it's important for the voices behind the LPL/LPA handles to not act like something is definitely coming, it gets people riled up. Unless they actually know something, the tone should be more speculative imo
-
He's not in LP, whatever LP decides is gonna be "for the fans", Chester and their songs will live on forever
-
I think it's just generically being used to signify "zero" or "blank slate" for the new beginning. Maybe the character will appear in a new song title
-
How is that one "known" any more or less than "Fire in the City", 2017 Friendly Fire? I'd say all of them sound like built-out songs, and since NRL is just an alternate of a final track, I'd count the alternate choruses of SIB and stuff in the same category Something I don't see on that big list: Sorry For Now with the demo verse Mike rapped during the PT tour. I really want to hear the studio version

I think we're getting our hopes up too high for tomorrow giving an answer, I think it'll just continue the puzzle w something vague, like the reveal of a puzzle image that will only be completed after a couple more songs get posts like this or something
-
I was thinking about them playing one or two songs but couldn't think of the venue, SNL would be perfect as you say! Or maybe one of the talk show hosts or something
-
A few random ideas I have for it having nothing to do with a new lead singer or LP playing live: 1. This is just for the Bleed It Out HD video (probably the most underwhelming outcome possible) 2. LP is gonna drop a bunch of live content on streaming platforms like Projekt Revolution, live in Berlin, all the DVD shows basically. I've felt like this was an obvious move by labels for years and LP has always been ahead of the curve on this sort of thing, so why not 3. New remix project of all the Papercuts tracks as an encore for that project 4. Return of the LPU with the flagship track being another BIO demo and more demos teased 5. Some kind of demo compilation on Spotify, maybe all the demo versions of Papercuts tracks again as a sort of encore to that release, with some of them being new to us (COG demo, alternate QWERTY version)
-
Now we're cooking with fire. One thing though is that if LP is gonna launch a new vocalist soon, I think they'd have less Chester in their socials for a bit. Like I'd expect a steady-stream of content where Mike or other continuing members are speaking/highlighted, with a few very vague teasers for whatever is new (Mike holding a guitar writing in a studio with Brad or whatever) and then an all-at-once drop of the new single/show announcement
-
Generic post today about the video upgrades makes me think it's just a BIO upgrade coming. If they mentioned Mike's AO rendition that might point to something bigger? But this just feels like social filler w it having taken longer than expected to get the BIO video remastered but now it's ready My outrageous fantasy guest is for them to take the stage somewhere w the new vocalist doing a new bleed it out rendition and their new song

Isn't that one of the things that gave us THP?
-
Yeah listening to that instrumental really made me reflect on how much raw energy that track carries every second
-
THP is nice, might grab it if I happen to see it in person or on sale since I don't have that one yet

Skylar Grey's "Numb" (Linkin Park Cover) Coming On May 10th
YRQRM0 replied to lpliveusername's topic in Newswire
I wasn't expecting much from what must be the 100th Numb cover I've heard, but it's actually really nicely put together. Nothing unexpected but a quality cover for sure -
Yeah I was thinking about this recently, I could see them choosing someone with a really unique tone that will bring something to new stuff and be instantly recognizable. The only "risk" is that her tone will feel "wrong" to a lot of people singing old songs. But yeah, having a front person with a truly special voice would be amazing for the fandom in the long run I think
-
I doubt it'll be looking for an answer, but I have to imagine they've written at least one song that pays some sort of tribute to Chester and their friendship, and I could see that being a track on a future album if they open the door to new studio releases. I think they might do something like have his flame tattoos on the screen for the initial tour or something, and then slowly de-emphasize the tribute aspect to him and try to form an original identity with the new singer
-
I agree, but I think the only risk is it being a female singer is gonna make it sound so different, some people might be a bit surprised to hear it when they show up. Using "+ X" probably mitigates that. But like you said, it's up to their vision. If they really feel comfortable with this person after one tour, maybe they'd drop the "+X" and go forward with them being firmly part of the band. I expect this person to show up in a studio recording beforehand, and I imagine that'll be presented as a song/EP a lot like STP did with Chester
-
I'm really looking forward to the chance to see them in any shape or form, even if there are no heavy songs or any kind of bias they lean into sonically, I'll just be happy to see it come to life in any form. What I wonder is if the name will just be Linkin Park, or Linkin Park + X, and whether this singer/lineup will have any studio releases before then. I would expect at least a really radio-friendly EP to try and get the singer more "integrated" with the potential set, rather than just being up there as a stand-in for Chester. Then she'd have her own songs, potentially with Mike, that would fully be theirs. With how much Mike writes, I feel like that's most likely, but we'll see.
-
that vinyl is pretty cool, but it needs a few more tracks to be worth it to me
-
Honestly a very measured and respectful response, of course it's a bit of an awkward topic, but some comments I've seen made it sound like he was going to bash them when this wasn't that

Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) Manufacturing Errors
YRQRM0 replied to lpliveusername's topic in Newswire
There are 100% power chords in UIG, not even debatable https://www.linkinparkguitar.com/uploads/1/4/6/6/146660116/07_-_until_its_gone.txt The difference is there's a riff going on top that wouldn't be characteristic of meteora, but that's only in the intro/outro too And I feel like the UIG lyrics are criminally underrated given the band's explanation that it's about their kids growing up, which does actually foreshadow OML-style writing a little bit, but in a good way. Agreed that it's better than the "anti-something" generic lyrics on a lot of THP
