these are the songs 80+% of the audience is there for I do wish they’d cut BID and ND in half tho to make room for something more interesting, I miss all the mashups
-
One thing I would love to see is the COG interludes replaced with melodies like Final Masquerade or Nobody Can Save Me, it would be the perfect way to sneak all the albums into the show Add in a bar of the Krwlng strings and change COG to have the remix outro and we’ve got all the albums represented Also I think it’s funny how many more times Mike has done the 2nd verse of UIB over the first, he must really like it Also There They Go feels like it’s shown up a lot, but maybe I’m just thinking that bc I really loved the 2008 intros for points
-
Where’d you go was such a nice surprise, the only thing I think I really missed was Leave Out All The Rest. I would trade OEO or Overflow for it, and I feel that BID doesn’t have a ton of energy and could be shortened I’m really glad to see GU cut, and was psyched to have APMH Casualty could probably rotate with a heavy song
-
Oh yeah, from the listening party I can confirm that the live versions of TEM, Two Faced, HITC are from the premieres of those songs. I think Casualty might be because I remember the bridge being extended, but those were playing as we walked in and people were talking and stuff so not sure, and I don't remember anything unique about OEO to know what show that was from
-
the “what’s next could be the last” and “how did we get here” stuff was from the rap. I could see it being about Chester and the band toying with paying tribute to him on LP8, and I could also see it just being about grief in general. The fact that Emily is on it makes me think Mike would say something like “it was about grief in general, something both Emily and I experienced and channeled in writing this”

My friend said it reminds him of Foo Fighters It starts with a piano that makes it seem like it will be slow like RU, but "drops" into guitars that remind me of something between Foo Fighters and No Roads Left Lots of Mike singing, then it transitions to Emily singing the chorus. Mike has a rap in verse 2, and the rap comes in on top of the last chorus in classic LP fashion (Easier to Run, WFTE). I don't remember all the lyrics, but they're basically along the lines of "I will always remember you, I won't let you fade" and "This next time could be the last" and "How did we get to where we are today". A common comment under this song will be something along the lines of "this is Mike letting us know he'll never let Chester's memory fade" Compared to UPFB and Unshatter, it's the biggest departure from FZ's sound. Not many electronic elements, reminds me of MTM and stuff like NRL, PTB, WWDK. Mike sings the bridge in a very raw and vulnerable way. Easily the most "raw" sounding thing from LP 2.0 besides Emily's vocals at the end of IGYEIH Emily doesn't go crazy with vocals at any point, but brings that "high octave" energy in the same way Chester does on stuff like Rebellion singing alongside Mike Feels like a solid song that the band consciously listened to but decided "let's not make this album feel too sentimental/stuck in the past"

Just heard let you fade at the listening party here in ATX, great stuff! I think the fans will like it a lot
-
There must be so many with how much time passed, and I'm sure a few gems like the Mike-only version of TEM or "the first thing Emily worked on with Mike" will be saved for years to come
-
I'll be there and get whatever there is to see on video, can't wait!
-
Numb, TEM and ITE seem likely, though maybe UFTB instead of TEM? As great as TEM is, I feel like it's kinda weak live. Mike is a great vocalist these days but his first verse doesn't have a ton of energy live. I kinda feel like they need a song from the new era that is built for a live setting, something super "sing-along" like Bleed It Out or ITE
-
“But the branch isn’t shiny as the arrow” made it to the final bridge Seeing the rap go back to 2013 is so cool. This is probably my least fav track on the album but still a banger and a treat to see how it came together, there must be so much demo material from this era I feel like there is not a lot here tho to say the demo is more interesting lol, recency bias fellas
-
I think it's "They will (or won't?) cut you open, just to watch you bleed They will chew you up and spit you out like they did me" I love the "spit you out" lyric on that melody
-
Man that would've been the icing on the cake and probably would've helped the movie's performance a touch, too. Probably wouldn't have been worth the leak risk even if they moved their comeback timeline up to make the movie though The demo sounds awesome and I really like the "spit you out" lyric, I hope the LPU demos return soon. There's clearly enough material for a couple of year's releases with just the demos and alternate lyrics, let alone the many beats that probably turned into nothing, from 2023 onward. And if they continued to sprinkle in stuff pre-FZ era, there's certainly more than enough

What was the full quote? I've been trying to understand what the callbacks to TEM and Two Faced mvs mean here
-
It's not something that I would use as a reference any time soon but it's strong IMO, I love the presence of the low-end on basically everything since Lost I would say that the Casualty and Two Faced mixes are still rocking my world and are definitely some of the most crisp mixes in LP's catalog now IMO. And all of FZ era is mixed better than LT hands down lol
-
So does anyone have an interpretation of the music video? What the two faced thing?
-
The tempo is what stands out to me as well, cool to hear them tackle that and it sets it apart from other FZ tracks and older material. I really wanna hear them do another 3/4 / 6/8 song like FTI again in the new era as well, there are a lot of little things like that they could latch onto to keep things feeling fresh I kinda don't get the music video, what is the Two Faced shot supposed to represent?
-
I'm not saying that I like all the versions or want them, but it's not too hard to see how we got here IMO. Back in the day, working with a vendor to make a custom store-exclusive package meant actually shipping materials. Now with digital storefronts, we can just make endless amounts of images promising any cover art we can create in seconds. Not to mention the creation of the album art itself and promotional images reap all the benefits of modern tools like Canva Plus vendors like this exist, it wouldn't surprise me if Warner's printing process is 10X more efficient and flexible than it was back in the day. They can probably just capture however many orders they have in a given week/month from each storefront and print accordingly: https://www.atozmedia.com/ Same, for me it's the only interesting song live from FZ along with Casualty for the different lyrics Mike does in the bridge and Emily's different screams she does sometimes. Over Each Other is kind cool for how much more organic it sounds live, but otherwise I'm not too interested in TEM, TF or HITC live until they get some cool intros/outros
-
Woah,. I don't think I have ever seen TWMI live in any form, that was a surprise
-
Well-said! I don’t get how anyone can imagine this being something like a cash grab or sacrificing the integrity of the short album experience. I mean GTG literally has the bookend outro and the album has been out for 5+ months. Anyone who would listen to the whole thing has likely done so and this is probably just the band and label taking the opportunity to stoke the fires of the comeback. Not to mention Mike's probably pretty excited about at least 10+ other tracks and sounds that he’s made over the last 7 years, and those who have listened to UFTB know this is not a track like Lost that feels redundant to anything on FZ. I expect all 3 tracks will be pretty fresh
-
yeah exactly, Casualty, Overflow and Two Faced alone are all so different, I don’t see how UFTB couldn’t fit in at all. Like yeah it’s fresh and not redundant with any tracks on the accompanying album, but almost every LP song on every album since ATS fits that description imo (incoming “all OML songs sound the same” rebuttal)
-
I personally can’t wait for the weird stuff lol, I kinda hope they do an official remix album or FZ bc that would give them some license to go for some interesting stuff short of an actual weird album Knowing how much Mike writes and some patterns from their discography, you know there’s gotta be at least one or two weird tracks, a Mike-led song, a 6/8 or swing track, acoustic track and things like that in the vault from the FZ era
-
Why is this post written like we don’t know that it’s the name of the song and haven’t listened to the leak all morning?
-
I agree with this, I'd just say though that just because it has potential and gets big marketing doesn't mean it's not a "B-side" in the sense that it was a discarded song from the final FZ tracklist. I feel like this could've still been written during FZ and not made the album the same way Lost was with Meteora. But we'll find out later I guess
-
Mike's bridge is awesome. Overall the song is great, I feel like I personally enjoy it more than CTB, but too early to compare to anything else on FZ. I can see that it doesn't really add anything to FZ that's not already there, which makes me think this will just a b-side on a deluxe album rather than a double album. If there's another 9ish tracks coming on a second album, I hope at least some get weirder and are on the longer side
