  1. DJ Z-Trip was broadcasting on Twitch on July 2nd to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his debut studio album Shifting Gears.

He told stories about each track on the album, played demos, unreleased tracks and performed the songs. Among the demos was a vocal recording of Chester Bennington recorded in the tour bus as a draft when he was touring with Linkin Park.Chester rode with DJ Z-Trip from one show to the next and recorded the demo on the bus.

He also revealed Mike Shinoda helped a little with the arrangement and showed a couple of pictures. The first is from Coachella 2005 and the second is a review of Wantagh 2004. We extracted just the part about "Walking Dead" for you guys as well as the audio of Chester's vocal demo and the performance. He played the same version he did at the Hollywood Bowl show.

"The remaining band members – Dowdell, Mace Beyers (bass) and Cristin Davis (guitar)"

Didn't Cristin JUST come into Grey Daze only for this project? Jason Barnes was the guitarist in the band when Chester passed away, and was the one doing this remix album.

They got Cristin as a second guitarist for the show. They were rehearsing with him before Chester passed.

  4. Tonight, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, Inked Magazine will premiere “Shouting Out,” a Grey Daze roundtable album special hosted by Dave Navarro and featuring Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch, Bush's Chris Traynor and more. They discuss Chester Bennington’s musical roots and the story behind Grey Daze’s upcoming album ‘Amends,’ due June 26th.

Listen to the 'Amends' album in full on Kerrang!'s Facebook this Thursday, the day before it's released. Grey Daze will be joining and giving live commentaries.

Her last EP "angel with tattoo" is very good

Yes! I loved that EP. She said she kinda wanted to get back to her roots and do something influenced by the 70s music she loved. Her best work since the Holly Brook days.

  6. Translation of the intro:

“This was LP's 3rd time at SS. In 2013, Metallica and Muse had been decided as the headlining acts (on alternate days). LP actually requested to perform in 2013, even though they'd be 'under' Metallica, rather than perform in 2014 as had been planned. This was really surprising that the band was okay with it, but that's how we ended up with a 'double headliner'. Their performance was absolutely amazing and the audience was so into it. Actually, after this performance in 2013, they never ended up returning to perform in Japan... due to the passing of Chester in 2017. So that makes this video even more special and important. A particular memory I (Sascha) have is, by 2013 Chester had gotten married. At the end the performance, there were fireworks and Chester's wife came to the side of the stage to wait for the guys. While watching the fireworks, Chester and his wife kissed. The scene was like a beautiful picture! I think the band members were completely satisfied with their performance and that they were able to create great memories for their fans in Japan.”

Do we know if Pods is actually from 98? i know Mike say this "There are 3 songs that are all basically movements in one piece of music and it was called "Pods". In 1998, I was actually still in college at Art Center in Pasadena". But i was wondering since both Blue and Slip are labeled as being from 1998 and we know that is incorrect

Blue, Slip and, I assume, So Far Away came from a CD Mike found in his closet and, according to him, were the first recordings with Chester. The reason Mike thinks Chester joined the band in 1998 seems to be the fact he was still in college at the time (1, 2), but if I recall correctly Mike finished college in 1999 right after Chester joined.

    Edit:

    Nope, he graduated in 1998:

Wasn't it that the label didn't really support her anymore? And she felt betrayed by them and somehow by Brad?

Linkin Park signed a bunch of artists to their label Machine Shop Recordings which was owned by Warner. Warner decided to fuck Machine Shop and this fucked the artists signed to the label. The artists blamed Mike.

  12. Questions for Mike's live streams:

    1. When you first started your band, why did you decide to name it Xero?
    2. What can you tell us about Brad's highschool band The Pricks?
    3. Can you give us some background information on the Linkin Park remix of Butterfly Caught that James Lavelle premiered a couple years ago on his radio show?
    4. Who played bass on the Hybrid Theory demos when Phoenix was away?
    5. What songs did you remix for U2 and Kings Of Leon?
    6. Linkin Park kept working on Part of Me and Carousel after the Hybrid Theory EP along with the batch of Hybrid Theory songs. Why did those two end up not making it?
    7. Brad once mentioned the title "Spark Marker." Was it a real Xero song or just a joke?
    8. Is it true you were involved on One Ok Rock's Eye Of The Storm album?
    9. Were any of the Xero tracks from Rapology (Closing, Drop and Fiends) ever played live?
    10. A few years ago Taka announced he was working on a song with you and Steve Aoki. What happened to it? Did it become Last One To Know?

    Feel free to add others.

Anyone have info on the 38 minute source from PR04 show in Hartford, CT? Just stumbled upon this searching through the live guide. I’ve seen interviews from this show, but certainly no “MTV2 PROSHOT” I would think this would get much attention amongst other shows if it was ever released..

The special includes music videos which were removed from the video you linked. It was filmed in Hartford, but there isn't anything from the actual show.

    DBS related...

Do we know for sure if there are other DBS unreleased demos/songs?

We've seen unreleased titles titles in song boards before:

    http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=List_Of_Unreleased_Songs#Dead_By_Sunrise

But it's really impossible for us to tell how much they worked on those songs before they were abandoned. Amir told us they might all be songs that were never finished. Some of them could be short instrumentals or complete instrumentals without vocals. Who knows?

After Chester died, Ryan said on the Dead By Sunrise Facebook page he wanted to release some material, but then the "leak" of Dead By Sunrise demos happened. We don't know how much unheard material they still have or if they are really worth releasing.

  15. Steve Aoki will be releasing tomorrow, May 22nd, a collection of remixes from his latest album, Neon Future IV. As you all know, the album features a collaboration with Mike Shinoda and Lights titled 'Last One To Know.' Two remixes of the track will be included in Neon Future IV (Remixes): 'Curbi Remix' and 'TV Noise Remix.' You can preview the tracks on iTunes.

  16. Mailing list subscribers can now grab a high quality download of Grey Daze's new single, 'Soul Song', featuring guest vocals by Jaime Bennington, Chester's son. A music video was also directed and starred by Jaime. Watch it below. Amends comes out on June 26th.

"This music video is about my spiritual connection to the other side and my literal experiences with the elusive and, at times, incomprehensible presence of my father after death. ’Soul Song’ is about the many ways in which we come to enlightenment, into knowledge, and the many ways we fall away from it. This is my personal experience with that.” - Jaime Bennington
