On June 1st, Linkin Park heads to Russia to perform the second show of their short seven show European Tour promoting The Hunting Party at St. Petersburg's Petrovsky Stadium. Since Linkin Park started performing in Russia in 2007, they have returned pretty regularly, performing there on the 2009 Summer Tour to promote New Divide, the A Thousand Suns World Tour, and the Living Things World Tour. Linkin Park's first Russian show ever was on their 2007 Minutes To Midnight European Tour in St. Petersburg for the Tuborg Greenfest at New Arena. This show was paired with a Moscow performance the next day, which is what is happening again this year - the band will perform in Moscow on June 2nd. The first appearance in Russia was confirmed in 2006 by Mike while on tour with Fort Minor, who said that the band would be heading to Russia for their next album. In 2009, Linkin Park returned to St. Petersburg for the Greenfest again, this time at Telebashnya Stadium. In terms of highlights, the 2009 show featured Mike rapping Hands Held High verse 1 acapella followed by verse 2 over the Krwlng intro to Crawling for the first time. Since St. Petersburg got a show in 2009, Moscow's turn was up next in 2011 (the next summer tour in Europe) and St. Petersburg was skipped on that tour. However, Linkin Park returned in 2012 to perform in Moscow and St. Petersburg both in 2012 with a Ukraine date sandwiched between them. St. Petersburg was the last show of the tour. Combining the three Moscow shows (2007, 2011, and 2012), this will be the seventh show in Russia for Linkin Park in the past eight years! Not bad! This is their fourth show in St. Petersburg at the fourth different venue in the city for the band. Opening both Russia shows will be Animal ДжаZ. Moving on, the short European Tour kicked off in Lisboa, Portugal at Rock In Rio on May 30th, which is ironically where the 2012 tour in Europe kicked off too. Linkin Park played the same set as Tucson, which was expected, and they will be carrying the same setlist through Europe until Download Festival closes the tour on June 14th - the show where Hybrid Theory will be performed in full. We will see the resurrection of By Myself, Forgotten, Pushing Me Away and Cure For The Itch at that show, and hopefully the other Hybrid Theory songs won't be shortened as they are now. We were able to see the new setlist in full for the first time due to the webcast (download links coming soon for it all, by the way) and we also got to see a new stage design for the band, which looks partially inspired by the Muse towers on their Resistance World Tour in 2010. Only a few small things changed for the band at this show - one being Mike throwing CDs into the crowd on the outro of Runaway containing Wastelands, and the second being Steve Aoki coming out on A Light That Never Comes, but not "performing". The next few shows will take the band through Russia, Poland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and England before the tour ends in two weeks. While the new setlist is drastically different than what we are used to, it seems that the band is still getting used to playing it as Rock In Rio had a few hiccups during the show (notably Brad and Joe). What do you all think of the new setlist so far? Do you like the shortened songs and the fact that LP is adding in a bunch of different songs to the setlist? Or would you rather see full songs? Do you like that they are playing three new songs off of the album instead of just two like they did for Living Things at first? And do you like the way the new songs come off live? What about the solo medleys for Mike and Joe? Another question is - will we see another flash mob at this show?! Russia is home to some of the best Linkin Park flashmobs, with the 2012 shows having quite a few at those shows. After this show, Linkin Park goes to Moscow the following day on June 2nd, before they have two off days before going to Poland. Find the full 2014 touring schedule here, including upcoming tour dates and past setlists played this year. We have updated both of the setlists for Tucson and Lisboa with the correct set notes (as complicated as they may be), so you can view those on the respective show pages. Remember to send in your ticket stubs, wristbands, posters, passes, etc if you're seeing a show this tour! We've heard that Rock am Ring MIGHT be webcasted - hopefully we will learn more about that soon (the show is on June 7th). Our opinion is that more webcasts will occur for the band now that the DSPs (Digital Souvenir Packages) are gone/not being sold anymore, but that's just speculation on our part. If you're headed to a show in Russia, have fun and let us know how it goes!

Wow. I'll do a full review later tonight, but they seriously need to take a day or two on this tour to rehearse the setlist. Damn. Brad - what a mess. I wonder if Sean watched this show via webcast. The shortened songs I'm not a fan of besides Blackout and Robot Boy - Shinoda really jams on those. Glad to have them in there. But Papercut without verse 2?? The one Chester screams on? Ouch. Until It's Gone sounded great. But Chester lives on the micstand. The encore medley is realllllly bad. Best part of the show was Papercut to me. -

First show for this new touring rig. 30 min changeover too. I'm sure the crew is fucking PANICKING right now. They barely got it all nailed for Tucson lol...I hope nothing bad happens tonight. I am surprised they do the biggest festival in the world and start so big on this touring cycle after they replaced so much gear. I would have done a low key headlining tour first or something. -

In a somewhat shocking announcement, the organizers of Rock am Ring have revealed that the festival will no longer be held at Nurburgring. Thomas from http://blackchester.de, a great friend from Germany, explains: "Marek Lieberberg is the promoter behind Rock am Ring. They need to rent the Nürburgring every year from the respective owner. This owner has changed pretty often in the last few years and it has always been uncertain that Rock am Ring will continue to be held at that racetrack. The new owner now cancelled the contract of Marek Lieberberg with them so Rock am Ring will no longer be held at Nürburgring, but that was a problem over the last few years already but they always found a way to work it out. But I already predicted this to be the last time at the racetrack this year since there were already some talks on a new venue for the festival" Obviously the timing is due to the festival about to occur and it also hasn't sold out yet this year. Linkin Park performed at the venue for Rock am Ring in 2001, 2004, 2007, 2012, and will perform there again shortly in June 2014. Rolling Stone Germany

I do think it is a bitch move to call out the headlining band at that show. Like wtf. I would be mad too but I guess it confirms the situation if the production manager called Sublime.

In one of the most interesting controversies the band has been involved with, the Sublime With Rome incident from Tucson has taken another turn in the story. This really wasn't something we were interested in posting at first due to how odd and unlikely it seemed for Linkin Park to do something like this, but here's an update... During the Tucson show, Rome Ramirez from Sublime With Rome tweeted "Linkin Park called the cops on us and said that they were allergic to pot. Cops came and took all our weed while we on stage. Bitch shit." Both Mike and Chester replied on Twitter, with Mike saying that it was "not his style" and that the band was in a M&G during the Sublime set and "wouldn't even know if there was smoke". After all, Linkin Park is the band that toured with both Cypress Hill and Snoop Dogg, and Chester and Mike partying back in the day out on tour is no secret. It all, of course, seemed like a bunch of nonsense until Cheez, the manager for Sublime, called into a Phoenix radio station and had this to offer: "It was Brad, the guitar player in the band, that had complained to their security people," Cheez told Vegan. "And then, since the incident, though, that's where really the fun part's begun because I got a call from their production manager on Sunday, asking me to squash the story, that they didn't want anymore press on it and that they were willing to buy us some more weed. This was coming from Mike Shinoda, which was cool. And trust me, I love Mike and Chester is one of my very good friends. But Brad is probably the most un-rock-and-roll dude I know. I mean, those headphones he wears on stage? He's not wearing those because they're monitors. They're like gun headphones so he can't hear anything. Who does that?" Cheez added, "They're a corporate machine that prints money and I understand they want to protect their image and stuff like that. But we're a rock band. We bought into the whole sex, drugs and rock and roll thing and we're trying not to let it go. I'm pretty sure the reason Chester joined Stone Temple Pilots is just so he could still tell people that he's in a rock band. I'm just guessing. Cause Chester is rock and roll. That dude is legit. And he's as good as it gets. So in no way do I want to slam Chester in any of this because he is the man... It's just such a bummer that he has to be in a band with dudes like that." Interesting! Is the Sublime manager lying, perhaps?

From linkinpark.com: "Pre-order the standard or exclusive deluxe version of The Hunting Party for a $5 deposit at your local Best Buy Store now, and walk away immediately with a 2 Song CD single featuring "Until It's Gone" and "Guilty All The Same" (feat Rakim). Find your local Best Buy store here. The Best Buy exclusive deluxe version of The Hunting Party features a bonus DVD of the 2012 MTV World Stage concert from Monterrey, Mexico and can also be pre-ordered online here." Originally, the only version of the DVD with The Hunting Party was going to be an international edition (which you could preorder from Amazon.de, etc), but it seems that the band has changed their mind and is releasing the Monterrey, Mexico 2012 show as a DVD bonus for Best Buy. This is good news for North American fans, even with a show that is already common in the community. This version is sure to be without the MTV logos and might even include different angles, etc. The release is SHORTER than the MTV World Stage broadcast, but it will still be a good release with the amazing crowd and the inclusion of 'A Place For My Head', 'Points Of Authority', etc. This show was Linkin Park's first performance in Mexico since March 2002. Monterrey 2012 - Best Buy Bonus DVD Tracklisting: 01. A Place For My Head (Long Intro; Ext. Outro) 02. Somewhere I Belong (2012 Intro) 03. Points Of Authority 04. Lies Greed Misery 05. Lost In The Echo (2012 Intro) 06. What I've Done 07. Burn It Down 08. In The End 09. Bleed It Out (Ext. Bridge w/ 'Sabotage'; Ext. Outro) 10. One Step Closer (Ext. Outro) Who's going to get the DVD? Or the 2 track disc?

The resident FOH and fan-favorite sound engineer for Linkin Park, Pooch, has posted a huge update on Linkin Park's recent rehearsals and their preparations for the upcoming world tour for The Hunting Party. After the Living Things World Tour, Pooch set off to work for Alter Bridge as they trekked across Australia, Asia and more before he left their North American Tour to come back to Linkin Park in April. He was asked to work for Alter Bridge after his previous work with Slash & Myles and he was instantly loved by that band and their fans as well. And he hasn't been without his successes too - Pooch was named Tourlink's "Top Dog" FOH engineer of the year in 2013! He is no stranger to the award though, because he won FOH engineer of the year by Tourlink and also by the famous Parnelli Awards in 2008, amongst other achievements. Pooch does a blog for SoundProLive and his latest update is titled "Never Enough Time When You Change Everything", referring to the Linkin Park rehearsals. "I flew straight from rehearsals with AB to setting up for Linkin Park. We were scheduled for three weeks of rehearsals, which sounds like a LOT, but you would be mistaken. We have taken Linkin Park to a new level, and with that process we upgraded and changed EVERYTHING." Everything at FOH and everything in the backline was changed out in preparation for the new world tour, which he details in the blog extensively. If you've watched the Tucson show videos, you'll also notice Mike and Joe are using some new gear on this tour too. "Much of the three weeks was spent just getting gear to talk to each other. The band was still able to rehearse their parts, but we (the crew) would spend hours and hours after the band rehearsal, just getting the gear to work on the section of the set that the band wanted to work on the next day. Sometimes we couldn't get anything to talk to each other until 4am for a 9am rehearsal. Not much sleep makes for a grumpy crew, and we were starting to reach the end of our patience by the last couple of days. On the LAST day of rehearsals, we managed to make it all the way thru the set, without any equipment crashes. Hooray!!!!" Along with the new gear, Linkin Park also has a few new crew members on this tour. Benjamin Chandler, who has worked with Deftones and Crosses, has taken over as the new guitar tech for Brad after Sean Paden (June 2003 - January 2014) recently left the band. After discussing the recent Tucson radio show, Pooch closes with, "Rock in Rio in Lisbon is our first big festival. All the gear that we set up in rehearsals is flying to Lisbon to meet us. I hope that the guys that are loading all our gear on to the plane, and then thru customs, and then on to a truck in Portugal, and then on to the gig, don't drop, or tip anything over. ALL that work for nothing...... HA. But this is the life we have chosen. Nobody said it was gonna be easy. Everyone would do it, if it were." Read the full blog post by Pooch here. Good luck to the crew and to Pooch on the European Tour!

Keep the links coming! We'll be able to confirm it all tomorrow when the opening bands take the stage. It shouldn't be difficult getting 2-3 links/streams as usual. Yeah APFMH really caught us off guard in 2012 - that was a great show. Those crowds in Portugal are always epic. -

Which theme are you using? I've used BBCode several times recently and it's worked fine for me.

Should have pulled a Jared Leto (can't believe I am saying this) and had Joe show it to fans on tour. Start with Lisboa and it's after every LP show in Europe and a few times on Carnivores. Seems like a good idea to me. Mike and the rest can join in randomly if they want. Or Joe doesn't have to be at it every time if he doesn't feel like it. Get a few hundred fans somewhere to watch it and that'd be a really fun event. /LPU

Got this one up a bit earlier than usual due to so many people wanting information on the webcast. SIC Radical confirmed it yesterday. Can't wait! I watched 2008 and 2012 live...forgot if I watched 2007? Nick? Let's jam.
