I honestly don't care what song we get. We should be more than grateful for everything we've gotten from LP over the past year. Not many artists do that, and I don't think any other band compares to LP when it comes to the love they have and the support they give to their fans, and vice versa. The fact that we get anything in between albums is good enough. 3 new songs, unreleased demos, upcoming game and DSP's... Way more than most bands give, not to mention all the updates they give us and the fact that we'll have another album in a few months or so.

Anybody have any idea what song we'll be getting from 8BR? I was just watching the MTM DVD and when David Campbell was scoring the few songs there's that song that Chester's singing that I know I've never heard before. Maybe we'll be getting that?

I think Alice In Chains is gonna walk away with the Grammy this year. That was one of the most heavily played rock songs of '09 and the comeback those guys made hasn't gone unnoticed. The fact that LP was nominated for this award surprised me, especially since it was a live video of a song that came out in '07. I hope Nickelback doesn't win, but it wouldn't surprise me for some reason.

Let's hope for something good. I want that new LP song bad, especially since I don't have an iPhone lol. Hopefully its not a MTM demo but rather the "QWERTY" of their next album. I'd like to hear some progress on the new batch of songs they're working on too. I'm sure the guys were distracted with the whole Haiti situation but I'd really like to hear how the songs sound.

Linkin Park 'Challenge' Themselves On New Album

Haha I'm glad someone shares my opinion down to a T like that. Meteora really did a number on me. I know it did cause I didn't mind hearing them all the time on the radio. Meteora owned the charts for a good year+. I don't know what my deal was with Hybrid Theory but I hated hearing Crawling or In The End on the radio, especially Crawling. I think that's the most classic song on that album, besides my favorite Papercut lol. I still love listening to those albums through and through. I got a playlist with every song they've recorded in a studio and just chill for a few hours and play it. Meteora seems like it flies by but it still hits me the same as the first listen but each time I feel like I hear something new, whether it be a lyric's meaning or the instruments. And I'm blabbering, I do that when it comes to LP lol. I love having discussions about them, and I especially love listening/reading haters talk trash on them, more notably the ones who say they suck with no clear reasons other than bias taste. They're the most successful rock band of the decade, and they're shaping a new age of rock. I think their status alone blocks all the hating lol I agree. I mean I love the album, but what disappointed me was letting my expectations getting the best of me. When you hear songs like What I've Done, Given Up, No More Sorrow, And Bleed It Out before the albums release you'd think the whole album would sound like that. If it did I would have a very different opinion of the album. Don't get me wrong, I love Leave Out All The Rest, Shadow Of The Day, Valentine's Day, Little Things Give You Away, but the album as a whole just doesn't generate the same feel as the others. In Between should've been replaced with No Roads Left, and In Pieces I just don't favor as a great LP song. -

I agree. Before LP broke grown in 2000 I really didn't have any love for a specific type of music. There was no sound around that just grabbed me and made me love it. When Hybrid Theory came out I was 10 years old and I was instantly hooked. I was listening to them non stop, reading the lyrics in the album booklet as I went along, LP changed my whole perspective on music with that album. Then Meteora came out and I was blown away. People say it was just a "copy & paste" album but in my opinion it was better. They proved that they could truly own that sound and not have a sophomore slump of an album. Hybrid Theory's a classic and I'll always love that album, but Meteora has so much more growth and maturity than HT did. With the lyrics and music you could really see how much they grew and how they were here to stay. I didn't get that with Minutes To Midnight. I love the album, but it took more time to grow on me, while the 1st 2 albums had be from the 1st listen. I hope they in some way go back to their roots on this next album. Weather it be less songs like the latter tracks on MTM, or more verses from Mike, I'd just like some old LP back. And I know they're good enough to bring some part of their old material back while at the same time delivering a kick ass album complete with something new. Like Mike and Chester singing back and forth together. That's something new. I have really high hopes for this album and I think if they deliver it right it could be up there with their best -
Are there actual mp3's for the scores Mike did for the VMA's? Or are they just ripped from video? Cause I'd love to get my hands on them.

Anybody know if we'll be able to download Lupe's track individually? Cause I downloaded the album already and I'm just curious if I'll have to download the whole thing again
-
Anybody not able to get the download to start? I keep clicking on the download button but nothing happens

I'd say the album will be out in or around the time Minutes To Midnight came out in '07. They'll probably finish up the 2nd batch of songs this month, put any last finishing touches on the group they see as the album tracks, then put it all together. They'll probably announce a release date sometime in March like they did with MTM. Then the first single will probably be out in April.

I was gonna say the same. I'm sure Chester's work tha went into DBS' album and all the touring has slowed down LP's 4th album process enough, so I wouldn't want a US tour taking away any more time (unless Mike's writing all the music, which I doubt) I just hope all this touring doesn't get Chester sick and delay the vocal tracking. I want this new album badly. 4 albums in 10 years, that wouldn't be too bad if they were working on a 5th one now. That 4 year gap between Meteora and Minutes To Midnight really consumed them. Although that was a result of a kickass sophomore album, a collaboration with Jay-Z, and Mike unleashing his underground hip-hop skills so I guess I really can't complain lol

I couldn't agree more. I saw them at the Tweeter Center in Camden in '07 and '08, and I was really disappointed with the lack of change of their shows. The bands played with them in my opinion were worse in '08 than '07, the first 5 songs were the same in both years, and in '08 it got to the point where I knew what song was next, and I didn't even know the Projekt Rev '08 set lists yet. I understand what Mike meant with the average concert goer wanting more hits, but they really need to expand their set lists, both in number of songs and in album diversity. There are bands that can pull off 30 songs a night. I don't see why LP can't play all of their singles, some new material, and old material all in the same night.

Not surprised at all. I remember hearing a while back that Eminem was the highest selling artist of this decade and Linkin Park was in 2nd. And considering that LP came out in 2000 while the rest of the artists on this list had more years of exposure is saying a lot. And the fact that they're the only rock band in the top 10 says a lot too. They came into the scene at a very odd time for music. Pirating and music downloading programs really hurt record sales as the the decade progressed and LP established themselves early on so that as the decade continued they were liked and appreciate enough that people went out and bought their CD's. Not to mention that this decade was a dead age in rock in terms of of establishing new household bands. When you look back at previous decades you see the greatest of the greats. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, U2, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc... Each decade had its best, and when you look at the 2000 era I think Linkin Park's at the top of this list. No other band that came about in 2000 or later comes even close. Its things like these that lets the world know how much of an impact LP's had on the music industry. We've seen them grow creatively over this past decade and I think they're only going to get better, if they can cut back on the time they spend in the studio lol

Anybody not able to get the AIM icons to work? Yeah I know its the not the biggest thing on LPU 9 right now but I always change mine each year and it keeps saying the pics are too big or soemthing
-
Can anyone tell me how to redeem my code? I bought my package at Best Buy and whenever I click on it it says I'm already logged into the site
-
Do we have to renew our account before LPU9 kicks in? Like with the code I got from the package I got at best buy? Or should I wait until the website actually becomes LPU9?
-
To be honest that intro sounded similar to With You. At first I thought it was the Reanimation version but as the instrumental progressed I knew it wasn't it, not the 2 versions we know of anyway. Any ideas? Possible new album demo? Scratch that nevermind

I just picked the CD up at a Best Buy in Philly, and there really isn't anything bad about this LPU except the really short and vocal lacking hybrid theory demos. Everything else pretty much kicks ass. A-Six isn't a copy paste version of A.06 and has a kick ass chorus. Mike sounds like his old young self on Faint's demo, and I liked how they used the power-chords that they showed Brad playing in the making of Meteora. Fear really took me by surprise. Its a completely different song and yet it still fits really well. Figure.09 was pretty cool, but I would've liked to have heard the original rap verses that Mike had on there. Across The Line is growing on me with each listen. LP was definitely right in keeping it off of MTM cause the feel I got from that song isn't the same vibe that track list gives as a whole, and I like how you can still hear the old Japan demo melody. Drawing was pretty sweet. I love when LP uses live strings and hearing them along with the crazy beats and samples really hit home. Plus I liked how Brad's guitar riff had some effects thrown on it. Drum song, in my opinion, is the best song on this CD next to ATL. I like the absence of all the guitars and the added keyboard through out. Plus I just think Mike really did great with the vocals and harmonies. Overall, great LPU CD. Most likely the best, and a definite improvement over last years disappointment.

I couldn't agree more. Bashing a band because they don't appeal to you is completely pointless and makes you look like a naive idiot. Both LP and Paramore love their fans and go out of their way to give them what they want so picking out Paramore fans for this stupid ass Fuse vote is ridiculous. LP fans and other fans endure this so its just an endless cycle. If somebody wants to fuck with the voting system let them. Fuse is obviously not important enough for it to check their votes so who gives a shit. In my opinion New Divide deserves to win. Its a more creative video that incorporates more than just one band's style but a movie as well. Plus the visual effects just kick so much ass.

DBS / LP to offer "exclusive" live songs via Google
Erockk2121 replied to LESTAT's topic in Newswire
Anybody have a good rip of this version of New Divide [Live]? Or does anyone know where it can be downloaded for free? PM me if anyone knows. Thanks -
Hey guys does anyone know what time the guys will be on KROQ? Eastern time please lol

It could've been. My cousin was at work and he told me all about it. He fallows them as much as I do so I trust him. He didn't say the station, he just told me the info the guy mentioned after Shadow of the Day was finished
-
I heard today on the radio after Shadow of the Day was played that LP is releasing a 2 disc greatest hits CD with unreleased tracks to be included on June 16th. I didn't know the station but it was one in Philadelphia. Anyone hear anything similar? Got more info?

I only saw one show over this summer and it was the Projekt Rev show at the Camden Waterfront at the Susquehanna Bank Center. The energy the band gave off was unreal, and Chester saying "I fuckin' love this city man. You guys always show up to kick some ass" really got the crowd going. And I searched around live CDs of the other shows on that tour and not one of them compared to the quality of the Camden show. Everything rung out together. Brad's and Mike's guitars always popped, and Chester's and Mike's vocals were top notch. The CD didn't pick up the crowd that well with the exception of bleed it out but I can honestly say the entire crowd was singing along to every song. That's what got the guys so revved up, the crowd was pushing along with just as much energy as they were. "Man you guys really know how to sing out there." Chester said in between songs. Overall great concert, and the definitely the best live CD of that entire summer tour. Can't wait til next year.

Chill with the smartass comments everyone...I was referring to them being available before anyone could even register for their LPU membership online but then I read some stores released them before they should have.
