  1. Bleed It Out is awesome in my opinion. One of the best LP's ever put out souly based on the fact that its one of the most unique songs they've ever written. They can do anything to it live, and holds true to the fundamental aspects of the band while at the same time trying something new, like that entire album did. I would never hold Valentine's Day above Bleed It Out, but that is an amazing song. Out of their 3 albums, I would have to say In Between is their worst song. I give kudos to the band, and Mike, for experimenting with their music creativity, but that song pushed it. No Roads Left was a painfully obvious choice to replace that song on the record. I wish Mike would've preformed that live just once, even if it were just a studio or radio session. My reason for believing why they never played it is because I don't believe Mike's voice could handle that song live after rapping/singing for n entire show. Don't get me wrong, he's a great vocalist but he's not Chester. Even he's not perfect every time. I don't think we'll ever hear that song live. Lets hope we'll have more chances from Mike on this album, and I hope that one song Mike mentioned during the 1st batch of songs on his blog with him and Chester singing together surfaces on this new album. That would be pretty sweet. And Lying From You is LP's best track thus far. Papercut's a close 2nd
  2. I seriously doubt that Mike working on this mixtape is holding up the new album. We now how devoted that band is, especially at crunch time, and really especially Mike, so I'm sure Mike working on this is just him blowing off some steam and working on something fresh that doesn't have crazy fans and a record label up there asses about it. The album's already on its slow process of making its way to the world. I'm sure the guys are taking a breather before all of the promotion begins and especially the album release and touring.
  3. Yeah I know, but I figured with how off topic this thread got a times, and the fact that some high level people for this site and LP mentioned it I figured it wouldn't harm anyone.
  4. I hate to go off topic (which I haven't yet) but I heard people mention pre-ordering the new iPhone on iTunes. Now, I'm an ATT customer so do I need to order it directly from ATT? Or can I order it directly from Apple and so on? I don't know how the iPhone works so if anyone can fill me in I would really appreciate it
  5. EXACTLY!!! That is exactly what I said to my friend, which is why I didn't believe a word of it. Once again, I was just putting the news out there to see if anyone else heard anything remotely close to that news.
  6. Relax guys. I'm just stating what I heard. I'm not giving it any credibility, I was just putting it out there to get some feedback from all of you that's all.
  7. I'm actually hearing about some bad news that's gonna come with this big announcement. According to a friend, 2 radio stations here in Philadelphia (104.5, 94.1) announced that this will be LP's final album. I'm as big a skeptic as there is about radio stations announcing news like that before the bands do, but its still something worth noting. Anyone hear anything similar?
  8. I'm just grateful that they're nearly done, so in response to what Astat said a press release this week seems very possible. I can't see it being any later than the week after. I also like the fact that we haven't heard too many details about what the album's going to sound like. I remember hearing about MTM so much and how it was less rap and more rock and I was really caught off guard with the actual album. After they play What I've Done, No More Sorrow, Given Up, and then Bleed It Out before the album comes out I was expecting the entire album to sound like that. Wasn't expecting songs like Leave Out All The Rest and Shadow of the Day, not that I was disappointed or anything. I'm just thankful that I can go into the first listen of this album with no influences from early album talk.
  9. I've only ever seen LP 3 times, all of which were within the last 3 years. I won't pick any other moments from shows I did not attend cause I don't think that's fair. Regardless, my favorite LP concert moment had to be when Jay-Z came out during the 2nd Encore at Madison Square Garden in NYC on February 21, 2008. I remember me and my cousin were debating on whether or not Jay would make an appearance, because after all MSG is his home and after the success they've had together it would only be natural, especially since that was their first and only time they've played there. I was a little disappointed that they played only the first half of Numb/Encore granted that they already played Numb, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My favorite moment was when Jigga What/Faint kicked in. I went completely insane!!! I remember back when LP first introduced the extended outro for that song and I always thought of how awesome it would be if they could play that at the end of JW/F. That outro is ridiculously amazing and when that song started I knew right away that I would hear exactly what I've been dreaming about.
  10. Happy Birthday Mark!!! I'll always remember that you're one of the few guys (the only one I've come across on this site) that thinks Meteora is LP's best album. Couldn't agree more man. I hope your birthday kicks ass and paves way for many more.
  11. Lockjaw. I don't really consider Lockjaw a M2M era song. It came out well after the album did and it showed Mike and Rob recording it for the whole digi design thing. But I love the instrumental nonetheless. Definitely up there with A.06 and Wake. It had potential to be a very good LP track. New Divide I loved this song from the first listen. It did everything it was supposed to and so much more. It generated the perfect levels of intensity and angst for the movie, and most importantly it stuck to the boundaryless style of LP and created even more room for them to explore. I was amazed by how good the song sounded live, not that I'm never not amazed by their live work, but for being such an electronic driven song I was surprised with how well it kicked ass live. Definitely the best track they've released since M2M. Across The Line. I was really surprised with how much this song grew on me over time. The first half of the song took some time for me to truly appreciate, because the 2nd half kicked so much ass and made me wished the made the entire song that heavy. After a while I realized that was just a very creative approach to building up the intensity of the song so kudos to the guys for that. Chester's 10 second scream is what made me like that song from the get go. I remember growing up I wasn't too big of a fan of Chester's screaming, but after listening to them for 10 years I've grown to really and truly love it. Its amazing how he can create the perfect hybrid of melodic singing and intense screaming. This song's in a close contest for the number 2 spot. Not Alone. I have to admit, I was one of the many fans who thought since we were all getting another in between album track from LP that it was gonna kick ass like always. Not so much with this one. I understand why the song was dug out of their archives and worked the way it was so I give them mad props for creating such a beautiful song that fits it's cause perfectly. On that note, the song is definitely good, but not one of their bests, not by a long shot. What makes it so good is how well it fit for Haiti. Blackbirds. This song is definitely the most creative song they've released since M2M. I like how the song doesn't fit the stereotypical LP format that includes Mike's rapping. The Lo-Fi vocal intro caught me by surprise (and I actually thought it was because it was a shitty audip rip from the game lol) and it actually grew on me. Chester's vocals are stellar as always, and the heavy beat-driven bridge overdubbed with Mike's vocals is what made the song for me. Overall, it was a pretty good song. And deserving of my number 3 spot. No Roads Left. After hearing all the hype that there would be less Mike rapping and more Mike singing on M2M, this song really did that claim justice, and made me pissed that there weren't more songs on there like this, or at least this track didn't replace In Between. I can understand why this was released as a M2M B-Side because its the most deserving out of the post-M2M tracks to make the album. Mike's vocals blew me away with the first listen, which only fueled my opinion of this making the final album cut. This song really showed how good of a vocalist Mike is, and how creative, underrated and versatile of an artist he truly is. This track is fighting ATL for the number 2 spot. All in all, I'm more than satisfied with LP and the work they've put into keeping us occupied and happy in between albums. Not many bands do what they do, and it really shows how much they love their fans and how our love for them has shaped them as a band altogether. With that said, its been a great 3 years since M2M. I've learned to branch out into different genres of music, and it made me appreciate LP's music in general. Now its time for the new album! I'd love some serious album news sometime in the next month. That would be awesome!
  12. With all the versions out there on youtube and file sharing sites and such, is that "lo-fi" beginning supposed to be like that? The intro where Mike comes in with his verse?
  13. Leave Out All The Rest, Shadow Of The Day, Hands Held High, No Roads Left, and The Little Things Give You Away.
  14. I was wondering if somebody could clarify this for me... Was Blackbirds recorded during the Minutes To Midnight sessions or recorded sometime within the year of the development of 8-Bit Rebellion? Cause I know Blackbirds was one of those six string songs David Campbell came in and composed during those sessions, but maybe they recorded that song souly for the game? But that wouldn't make sense considering that was 3 years ago now and I don't think they've been developing the game for that long. If anyone could answer this I'd truly appreciate it.
  15. Did the album leak? Or was it just this particular track? Cause I downloaded a torrent for Rise Up and my itunes wouldn't add it so it there was either a problem with it or a fake. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
  16. This might be a dumb question, but does anyone think there's a chance the Blackbirds track will leak before the release of the game? I know its the the result of winning the game and the game's released through itunes but I just wanted to see if there was even a chance it could leak since its not out for another month and the anticipation for the new album is slowly getting a hold of me.
  17. I think LP would solve a lot of the fans' problems if they extended the setlist from 2010 on. The setlists have gradually increased in songs with each album release so I think they can pull it off. Like somewhere around 25 tracks each show. That's enough room for the 16 singles plus songs from the new album, fan favorites, and maybe some random surprises each show. I saw Pearl Jam at the Wachovia Spectrum when they closed it out. On friday they played 31 songs and on saturday they played 41. Now I'm not saying they should make the list that long or even could cause I'm sure that's pushing Chester's voice too far, but I think my 25 song limit is fair. I think Not Alone should be saved for special events cause that song is just too specific for one of their live shows. I honestly wouldn't want it to replace anything they've played over the years. I'd love to hear a lot of Hybrid Theory this year with its anniversary coming up, but that'll be on them. Basically all I want is more than a 3 setlist tour. I know they have to program a lot of their songs ahead of time for Joe and etc but with the success they had and will continue to have I'm sure they can afford to find a way to program all of their songs into their live equipment so they can surprise us with every show they have for now on. It might be a little much but hey I can dream lol
  18. I'm with Astat. Mines not giving me the new tracks either.
  19. Alright thanks man... ooh and will I have to download the whole thing again?
  20. Anybody know how we get the 4 new tracks? Do we have to re-download the entire album with those 4 included or there a way to download just those specifically?
  21. Happy Birthday Mike! You and Phoenix are February boys just like me. Go Aquarius!!! Haha!!!
  22. I keep hearing that No Doubt sings this but I don't think it is. Anybody else have any idea? Or more proof that it is in fact No Doubt?
  23. I was making my way through the snow covered streets in Philly today on my way to school, and I was listening to either WMMR 93.3 or 104.5 but one of the guys gave a shout out for Phoenix's birthday. Then he dedicated a song to him it was a cover of one step closer. Anybody know who sings that cover? Its a female vocalist
  24. I agree with 2 of these bands. You can't argue with the influences they've had over the decades but some of them are truly over blown and overrated. Nirvana and the Beatles. 2 of the most influential bands in the history of rock. However their music is too highly praised and held up way higher than they should be. The Beatles were a head of their time so that's why they were so big. Nirvana however, the only reason they got so big was because "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was beyond overplayed on MTV in the early '90s. Nirvana said it themselves that that song was "omnipresent." That song is great and I love Nirvana, but that song does not deserve to top all the charts and polls that's it been doing over the years. And Kurt Cobain is good, but in my opinion, he is the most overrated musician in the history of rock, especially with how much fame he's acclaimed after his death. Considered one of the top vocalists and guitarists in rock and roll, unbelievable. He's a creative artist when it came to writing music, but is way too overblown.
  25. That's some grade A bullshit! I understand the guys are from L.A. but come on that's not cool. At least do an online beta test for LPu members. And next week? So that means we have to wait even longer now
