  9. Your username: VavourasLP Username of your nominee: jakolp Which prize they would receive: LPU CD's Reason for nomination: Well, as he said in his post he's the person I know the most in LPLive We started talking online as we were both trading linkin park shows back in the day, and I can assure you he's the most devoted fan I've ever met. He'd do anything to find any show and I was amazed by his collection of bootlegs. Then we met last summer in LP's concert here in Athens where I had told him I'd record the show and share the dvd with him, but unfortunately some random guy broke my camera as he mosh pited on me. I was amazingly pissed but he backed me up on this one telling me that I should forget about it and enjoy the show, and that's what I did. And he was right because LP were outstanding for a second year in a row, and I would have missed a lot if it wasn't for him. We've been good friends ever since, and I admire him a lot because he's an open minded fan,and truly loves Linkin Park. And not only that; I remember him saying how he feels he owes to Linkin Park because they got him to listen to all those kinds of music, learn so many other bands and in the end form his musical tastes. That's when I realized how much Linkin Park has affected my own tastes, and furthermore, my own life, perspective and personality, turning me into the person I am now. And I believe that's a lesson for everyone. So Jako, thank you man, and I really hope you win the prize.
  10. Amazing. waiting for the end is boring live though

  14. what the hell they rocked the shit out of it. way better than I expected!
  15. I would love to see Shinoda's face after this. But of course he didn't answer.....
  16. Empty Spaces
  17. well thank you about that. But the chicken remains
  18. It's pretty safe stuff for me. And easy to listen to. Most of them at least. For the flaws see what he wrote in his review and stop randomly making guesses. as for the standards, he's not talking about their musical direction standards, but their quality standards. And he's right. Compared to previous LP songs, most of the stuff on ATS lack quality. That is the memo you shouldn't miss. No matter what style it is, a record has to be quality to be appreciated.
  19. And because this hater - lover thing is annoying, just because I didnt like this album doesnt make me hate Linkin Park. To me now it's 3 good albums and one mediocre. I still love them and worship them as musicians. Go check my previous 499 posts (which makes this one my 500th and yet I waste it answering to that hater crap) and see if I'm hating on LP anywhere.I think you can't face the fact that some people might not like the album like you did. But just by calling them haters (which to you apparently means retarded and unable to listen to music?) you cant take away their arguments.
  20. You just had to call me a hater didnt you? Thumbs up for all the tags you the "lovers" put. Anyway no I didnt have any picture painted. I knew they were experimenting, and with that you dont know what is gonna come out, so I didnt have any picture painted. They failed to prove to me though, with the exception of 1 or 2 songs, that they're good at experimenting.
  21. Ok I think after 2-3 times i've listened to it I can be fair enough with it to say that for me, it fails to capture what Mike Shinoda had on his mind. He wanted something edgy, something that could not fall into a category due to its originality. The thing is, even though it's obvious with this record that they try to push the boundaries and surpass themselves, it seems that experimenting is not something that suits them very well. Most of the songs still sound pretty generic and radio-friendly,which isn't necessarily bad but there's nothing good about them also.Mellow songs, poppy sounding, that mostly remind me of U2 with hip hop beats (especially burning in the skies and Iridescent). And the ones that try to be weird and "cutting edge" , gave me the feeling that were created just by throwing random stuff on Pro Tools, just because they "had to" sound new and fresh. The Nintendo-like synths on Blackout is a major example. Truth is I didnt find anything new and fresh about it and it just gave me the feeling that they tried to make it sound deep and meaningful both musically and lyrically, but only in the latter they succeeded. I dont want to be harsh on this band that has given us some real music masterpieces in the past. But they should have been less self confident and consider that creating something new and fresh all over from the beggining in the year 2010 is almost impossible. Instead, taking what they had built with the past 3 albums and move it forward is what they should have done.
  22. I was thinking the same way. I mean, if they're up for something new on their next record, that seems like the only thing they havent done yet...some really really heavy music.
  23. lol only that part sounds like nin. the rest wont ever get to that..
