I actually dont get what does it mean by the term "technological innovations". like, new technologies in the recording systems? anyways to me, the catalyst has nothing commercialized on it. electro stuff,which is the main element of the song, were never that commercial.

I wanted to say this too. The Lift me up let me go part is as hard as No Roads left to sing. We'll see. But I liked the song. I think the guitar should not have been in the background though..and the second part is simply amazing.

They did what they've always done, which is being pretty edgy between different genres. The Catalyst is not pop music, is not rock, is not pure electronica. I don't fucking know what it is! It's awesome though! but what do I say to my friends that suggest that it's clubby and dance and sounds like house music? That's what someone would say on a few listens.

They'll have to put a lot of effort to make it sound good live though. Because it's not one singing and one just doing harmonies, it's both of them singing, and if one is out of tune it's gonna sound like crap.

I don't agree. Go listen to some NIN. When Trent swears, it's more original than anything. And he does it even in ballads like Something I can never have. It's just true emotion, at a highest level.
