What's funny is that this song would be just fine if it was Kiiara feat. Linkin Park. But that's not what it is. I wasn't really sure what to expect because I hadn't paid very much attention, but I certainly didn't expect a straightforward pop track. I don't know how I feel about it. I think, as a song, it's fine. Chester's vocal performance is interesting, but I don't think his voice is suited to the style he's trying out. I think he needs to have a harder edge to his vocals for them to sound good, and this performance is a little too airy. It's a catchy song, and I think it could gain traction on pop radio, if people get past the idea that it's a Linkin Park song and don't have an automatic "ew the nu-metal band" recoil. Who knows.

Maximum of ~44 minutes, then, probably under 40. Vinyl's a little on the pricey side for one record, but I think I might go with that. I'm still on the fence about it, though. I'm intrigued by the direction of the album, at the very least.

Very nice to see a new LP wiki being launched (remember the one LPA made like five years ago?), and I think it's a smart move to keep its editing limited to staff members. It already looks like a very well-crafted resource.

The race to grab QWERTY from somewhere was my introduction to the online LP fandom. I think I finally grabbed a horrible-quality bootleg from either lpfuse or pushmeaway.com. Those were wild times.

I wonder if, had Elizondo stayed with the band through Hybrid Theory, he would've ended up being their permanent bass player. Mike seems to respect him a lot more than Koziol or Christener. Probably not, though. Elizondo made the right choice with his career in the end.

I'm not entirely surprised and that's an awful feeling. I always hoped that he would get it together eventually, but it seems like he just couldn't. Very sad.

I always thought that Pretend to Be was a track that was close enough to be one of the last tracks, but it wasn't completely ready for MTM, so it was finished afterwards and marked as a 2008 track. I don't think Not Alone was the one - people talked about that when it came out, but Mike's quotes implied that it was far from done in 2007, since I think they had to write lyrics for the entire song. I could be remembering that wrong, though.

Man, this band's been a mess. I really think they need to just hang it up and form a new band if Chester really did leave. It may have been his dream job, but juggling two bands full time isn't easy, not to mention the constant legal bullshit with Weiland. I wouldn't blame him for saying he couldn't do it all.

You probably should've led with that, so that people didn't spend the rest of the thread hounding you about being cheap. This track is very, very 2000, and it sucks, but it's an interesting little bit of LP history to hear.

Did Phoenix not miss any shows in 2000? Or did he re-join the band before they started touring?

Good lord, the people here blew this shit way out of proportion. Miscommunications like this happen all the time, especially in industries like the music industry. Plans change. You can talk about what people "should have" done, but none of us know what actually went on. Yeesh.

Video was really, really cool. This whole project is just great. I hope we get more music relatively soon. Maybe he'll try a new song out at the show next week?

I will say that I was all about the black and white texture one or whatever it was called, the one with the vague design on it. I would definitely buy that if it was $20 or $25. The vinyl is still a price that's hard to swallow, but it makes more sense than the shirts. Song still sounds great, too. I really hope that Fort Minor comes back in a big way this year or next year. The way Mike has been about promoting and hyping it implies that this won't just be a one-and-done, single-track deal, but we'll probably find out for sure on Conan tomorrow.

Merch prices are psychotic. $35 for a t-shirt, Mike? Come on, man. Also, I bought the single through iTunes before I found out the site was live, so that's that. Oh well. (I also accidentally bought The Rising Tied when browsing through, so that'll be fun to refund.)

People tend to be excited to some degree when a band/artist that hasn't been active for a full decade suddenly puts out a song with no prior warning. I think that's a little easier to understand, and I also think you're oversimplifying the situation here. It's not like it's "just another Linkin Park song" or whatever. Did you see this sort of excitement when that Steve Aoki track dropped a few months ago? Was the hype too much for you then, too?

Okay, other people have noticed that Mike blacked out the Fort Minor Facebook and Twitter accounts, right? Though, I also don't remember that FM Twitter account ever existing, so maybe it's just someone trolling. That wouldn't explain the Facebook page, though.

I'm kind of surprised they showed the injury in full like that. Seems like something you wouldn't want to put out there. At least it wasn't gruesome.
