So heavy that shit doesn't even need guitars. Can't wait to hear this.
-
Holy shit. Hybrid Theory 3 this is not. I said I wouldn't listen to any more previews, but I couldn't help it, and wow. This album's gonna be great. Am I the only one not completely feeling Castle of Glass, though? If that's the song it was. The fourth one. Not feeling it. Hm. Oh well.
-
I really like the entire song, not just LP's parts. Nice and humorous a lot of the time.
-
I don't know why this warranted its own topic? HBMS wanted Mike and Chester to guest on a track, they wrote two verses for it, probably end of story. It's like questioning why Mike and Joe guested on that X-Ecutioners track, or why they guest on any number of tracks, really.

LIVING THINGS streaming in full on 19th to 22th
gorast replied to Andros's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I'll take it. Tuesday to Friday, sounds about right. -
Perhaps I shouldn't've pointed out that "guitars are back" statement. Brought back the ridiculous ATS guitar debates. so how bout dem LIVING THINGS snippets eh? Personally, I think after this I'm going to wait for the whole album to show up somewhere. Done with snippets and all that crap.
-
There are guitars in BURN IT DOWN and LIES GREED MISERY. Stop with the "GUITARS ARE BACK" crap, please.
-
Yeah, wow, those sound pretty good. And Chester's at the end of the I'll Be Gone clip, so we know that at least that's real, makes a good case for the other two.
-
No, it doesn't seem like something Mike would do, so that probably means the "surprise" and the "greatest album" statements are separate. If there actually is a surprise, I'm curious as to what it'll be. As for the "greatest hits" statement, I think it's just Mike doing his usual new-album hype, referring to LIVING THINGS. They do have enough singles to put out a greatest hits album, though, even without Reanimation and the radio singles. Just pointing that out.

Nah man, Numb is a shit song too, I'm with you there. But it feels fresher than Crawling, especially with the piano outro from 2007-2011. Hope that returns at some point.
-
To count how many times LP has played each song in their catalogue live. Which I think is a ridiculously time-consuming thing that has zero payoff. That's essentially useless trivia. Hasn't Papercut been dropped several times before? Someone mentioned that it and Crawling have around the same amount of play counts, but I doubt that's true 'cause I remember people whining about wanting Papercut back in the set.
-
Reanimation intro with Hands Held High over it made the song tolerable, I suppose. Not the standard run of the mill album version, though.
-
I'm so sick of Crawling, man, I'm glad it's been dropped. I'm surprised that it was dropped twice in a row, though, considering how much of a setlist staple it is, what with the crowd interaction and all that. Bring something from Meteora in to fill in that spot, LP. It's time.
-
I pointed that out last page D: lperocker, you don't know that spraypaintninkpens is a member on LPL, do you? That's what makes it funny. Pretty sure Mike's dealt with him before.
-
Shit bro. I can't even follow that up. Thread over, man.

I still just can't figure out why you guys are so...honestly, some of you seem a little butthurt over a blog post saying "hey wait a bit before you listen to the album." It's not a demand. It's an idea, a marketing tool maybe, but an idea. Obviously we can all do what we want, we can wait until the 26th, we can wait until August, or we can listen the moment someone finds a download link. We can do whatever we want because Mike Shinoda is not the dictator of the universe. But if there are people who actually want to do a "listening party", be it with a group of people or a bottle of vodka, then don't shit on them for it. Don't accuse them of following Mike's word like it's law, saying people who like the idea are sheep feeding into Warner Bros. Chill out and let people do what they want.

LIES GREED MISERY - Official Lyric Video
gorast replied to HybridARG's topic in Everything Linkin Park
20 years from never. -
There's no way in hell LP could do what Radiohead did. They'd crash and burn, maybe not even hit the 100k mark. LP did the same thing with Lies Greed Misery. The NIN fanbase is a rabid bunch that makes us look like casual fans. Trust me, I know, I'm one of them. Trent can release an album of fart noises and it'd sell over 500 thousand copies as long as it has the NIN label on it. The point is that Linkin Park is a hugely commercial band, and always has been, and they always will be. They can do unconventional promo methods, but in the end it'll always be the traditional ones that have the most impact to the casual (read: more important for sales) fanbase. They don't need to win us over because we preordered the fucking thing the moment the site was up.
-
The thing is that LP is still a major label band that depends on revenue from sales of albums and live shows and merch and all that shit to keep going, just like any other artist. Yeah, Mike is pretty much promo'ing the album and wants us to buy it, what artist wouldn't? ...Well, ignoring certain acts that are a lot less commercial than LP that insist on breaking away from the record-label-model of the music business. But that's really not a discussion for here. Point is, Mike wants us to buy the album just like every other album. This time, he simply decided to wrap up that plea in a way that wouldn't be so obvious, and also provides the framework for increased fan interaction, which, remember, LP is all about usually. Basically I'm trying to see you guys's viewpoint, but I honestly can't wrap my head around it. It's not like they're throwing out their songs to minivan commercials.
-
Maybe the topic title should be edited to state that this is the ATS leak topic.
-
You guys are getting way too upset. Accusing people of thinking Mike's some sort of "authority figure" because he proposed an idea that some of us thought was pretty cool and intended to do? Please. Pull your heads out of your asses. Of course it's a marketing tool. That's the point. It's not a threat. Mike wasn't saying "if you don't do this then LP is over". He was saying "Hey the album's definitely going to leak because Warner Bros is a major label and we're a huge band but maybe see if you can wait until the arbitrary release date and make a day of it? Or just make a day of when it leaks, whatever." That's it. Jesus Christ this fanbase sometimes. Also, this hilarious exchange in the comments:
-
I'm thinking we'll get a leak probably around the 16th, if the release date of the 19th holds true. The new Rush album leaked about ten days before the official release date, and the new Bruce album leaked two full weeks before. Albums with huge hype around them leak way early.

LIES GREED MISERY - Official Lyric Video
gorast replied to HybridARG's topic in Everything Linkin Park
The Given Up single's lookin' right back. It's an accurate representation of the song, IMO. But no I like the art, the whole art style is great, but it just freaks me out. It's like a tiger or something, I can't even tell. -
I think we should all do what Geki intends to do.
-
...Was that even related to this topic? This is interesting, in any case. I had planned to listen to the album front to back the moment I got it, but instead I think I might set up a listening party over Skype or something where we all start the album around the same time and post our reactions as we go.
