  1. Amen. I know I've said this before...but even if New Divide and Not Alone fit the vague description which the band has given us for the next album, I just have a feeling that the new album isn't going to sound like either of those songs. There's just no real way of knowing what it's going to sound like though until something leaks or we get a real detail. I don't need to remind myself of what happened with Qwerty. M2M sounded nothing like Qwerty. And I think there's a good chance the new album won't sound like Not Alone or New Divide.
  2. He said that the challenge this time was to make a record which no one else could make. A record which only they could make. In my opinion, they already did this with Hybrid Theory. I honestly believe that overall, there wasn't any record that sounded like Hybrid Theory before Hybrid Theory came out. Even with Meteora and M2M, I don't believe anyone else could have made a record like that but them. M2M was obviously different in a way and influenced by a couple bands but it was still their core sound to me. It had enough LP in it for me. Anyway, I agree that we've all heard so much information about this album and definitely some contradictions. This is the first Linkin Park record where I have absolutely no expectations. And to be honest, it might be a bad idea to have high expectations for this album. That doesn't mean that I don't have faith though that it will be good. It just means that if it does somehow turn out to be suck, I won't be devastated. They've put out 3 damn good albums and I can forgive them if the next one is mediocre. Somehow...I have a feeling it won't be though.
  3. I'm going to throw out a prediction here. I could be totally wrong and look retarded but I'll take the risk. I think the song for the mobile game is going to be heavy. And to be honest, I think it's going to totally destroy any preconceived ideas as to what the new album will sound like. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being much heavier than New Divide (which wasn't that heavy). I won't be surprised at all if it sounds nothing like how the band is describing the new album.
  4. I just realized...the very first couple seconds of the song are reminiscent of the Somewhere I Belong intro. I'm trying to remember what effect or instrument they used for that. I know they talked about altering guitar or something to achieve that effect.
  5. Pretty awesome song. Given the situation and the fact that it was for MFR, I expected it to be a very different song. It was probably even more different to me than New Divide was. I personally thought New Divide was different and more mainstream than anything they had done before. This song shocked me even more though. What I really love about this song is the instrumentals and what Hahn is doing. The vocals though do remind me a tiny bit of She Couldn't and Valentine's Day. Definitely not their best song but it doesn't matter. They weren't aiming to make the best song. It's a good song and it fits the current times perfectly. Just a sweet beautiful song to pay tribute to a tragic event and the people who were involved with it. In terms of what this song means for how the new album will sound, it means about as much to me as New Divide did. In other words, almost nothing. New Divide was a kick ass song for one of the biggest movies of the year. And this song is a song for one of the most tragic events of the new year. I really don't think this song or New Divide is an indication of what the new album might sound like. If the new album does follow this kind of trend though, I won't necessarily be disappointed. Anyway, my appreciation for Linkin Park is growing even more. To me, No one has the right to complain anymore about how long the new album is taking or how long it might take. This isn't the same as when we had to wait for Minutes to Midnight. We've now had Lockjaw, New Divide, the best LPU CD in the history of the LPU with Across The Line, Not Alone, and we are getting a new song from the game. And to be honest, I still believe that we are going to get the new album quicker than we got M2M. Probably in the next 6-8 months. We've now got two different songs because of natural disasters. I'm not hoping for more natural disasters or anything but new Linkin Park songs are definitely not a bad thing.
  6. I'll second this. He's one of the few people who I can honestly say without a doubt knows more about LP overall than 99% of the people I know. I know he might say I'm overstating how much he knows, but I seriously don't know a lot of people who know more than he does about LP and their music. And that's saying a lot when you consider all the fan sites like LPL, LPA, etc.
  7. Ok, I accept that starting after this post. I just want to apologize for bringing it up. I accept blame for starting it. I didn't think I was going to get all those responses. Just to make it clear though, I never said anything bad about her music. I actually think her songs are catchy. Her body, whatever is on it, has nothing to do with her music.
  8. Ok, I guess I could believe the possibility that she might be some sort of creature from outer space.
  9. I know that this is kind of off topic, but if you guys had to vote for the sexiest man of the decade and the only options were Chester Bennington and Lady Gaga, who would you choose? Btw, I'm not gay.
  10. I'll definitely vote for Hybrid Theory. I honestly believe it deserves it. I think it's the best album of this decade from the best band of this decade. I'm hopeful that the next LP album can end up being the best album of the next decade.
  11. I haven't heard the CD many times yet but I'll give my initial impressions based on what I've heard. The only track I've listened to more than 10 times is Across The Line. A-six- A really bad ass track. Takes me back to my Meteora days. I think it would be fun to try to create lyrics for this track. I guess I can see why it didn't develop into a full song but it still sounds awesome. Towards the end, sounds a tiny bit like By Myself. Faint demo- Really neat hearing completely different lyrics. It's a bit weird with the chorus missing but Mike's rapping is damn scippy. The one plus about certain vocal parts missing is you can hear how awesome the guitar is. Sad- When this first started off, it didn't sound like By Myself. The intro made it sound unique. Around the 36 second mark, it starts to blend in and sound more familiar. I do agree though it's a bit too short and thus repeats too much. Fear- Probably my 2nd favorite on the CD. Finally some real vocals (even though A LOT of them are donana's) throughout the entire track. I knew that Mike would be singing this one but I was still shocked. It was absolutely amazing hearing the octave he was singing in. I knew he had good vocal range from NRL but this was still amazing. The rapping part, even though it was mostly gibberish, was also epic. It almost sounded like it could have been from a Fort Minor song. The best part for me though was the chorus which he sings even higher on. I probably like the melody on the chorus better than LOATR. It's just incredible and that's the only way to describe it. And the donana's work well on the bridge and actually fit in with the song because of the tempo. I understand that it's not extremely polished and it's still missing a ton, but the bottom line is that you have to think in terms of what a demo is. And when you consider it's a demo and compare it to the other tracks on the CD, it's more complete and more polished in my opinion. I can appreciate it because of that. Figure .09- Kind of boring and repetitive at first but it sounds awesome when Chester comes in. Love the lyrics but kind of repetitive. Love when he starts whispering though and Mike's high falsetto oo's sound awesome. Stick And Move- I guess this is arguably the most pointless track on the CD. It's still cool just because it's Stick And Move and I love hearing the Egyptian style sound. A bit too short though. I prefer the version with Wakefield's vocals. Across The Line- The best track on the CD IMO. It's the most complete song on the CD and it's brand new. I couldn't wait any longer to hear the complete version of this after hearing Japan. It's just so unique both lyrically and musically. It really separates itself from the other M2M tracks. For some reason, the lyrics reminded me of Carousel the first time I heard it. Maybe it's because it goes back and forth talking about a story or perspective of two different people. I love the computer sounding intro and piano outro. With all that said, I can understand why it didn't make the album. And to be frank, I think it's an insult to M2M to say that the song is better than half of M2M (then again, if you didn't really appreciate M2M that much which some people didn't, I can understand). Anyway, certain things feel rushed about it and the chorus isn't too catchy. It's also not that melodic to me. However, because In Between and Valentine's Day DID make the album, I would agree that this should have made M2M along with NRL. The bottom line is that this song is probably better than In Between and Valentine's Day. It's also probably better than Wake and maybe SOTD for me. Besides those 4 songs, ATL doesn't beat anything else on M2M to me. Overall, it's a good track but not epic. It continues to grow on me though and I seriously hope it gets a live debut. Breaking The Habit- What I love about this is that you can hear the strings much more clearly and they are louder. This demo illustrates the true beauty of BTH and the kind of brilliance that went into making it. The mechanical sound effects are also really awesome although they get extremely odd and sporadic towards the end. It almost gets a tiny bit annoying and goes off beat at the end. It definitely sounds like they were experimenting with this a lot and I appreciate that. This might be my 4th favorite on the CD. Drum Song- Probably my 3rd favorite on the CD. I knew this would sound amazing from hearing a demo of him doing this on LPTV. The piano intro gave a whole new feeling to the song. Amazing. Danana's still work well on this track. When Mike goes into the chorus, this becomes one of the most epic moments ever. Just hearing him saying The Little Things Give You Away sends orgasmic waves through LP Land. The change in lyrics is interesting also. Hearing Mike attempt the high OO's on the outro was also incredible. He actually does this almost as good as Chester and in some ways, it sounds even cooler. Again, compared to the other demos on the CD, this is more polished, even with all the donana's. Overall, great CD. There's no doubt that it's the best LPU CD released to this date. Best tracks on the CD are the ones which are more polished and more complete with vocals. My favorite tracks are A-Six, Drum Song, Fear, Drawing, and Across The Line. I think the reason I was able to enjoy this CD thoroughly is because I had no expectations. I understood beforehand that these were demos which meant that we could have got anything ranging from absolute shit to absolute awesomeness. And that's actually what we got. We got a few tracks which were crap and a few tracks which were absolutely awesome. I do wish that we could have had more tracks with vocals but overall, I'm pleased when you consider what we got and how much less it could have been. In some ways, I'm actually glad we got less complete/polished tracks. One of the good things about this CD is that it shows the thought process and writing process of the band during M2M. For that reason, I think the danana's actually serve a purpose which is to show how the song writing process for M2M was different and how the band approached making songs. A demo is a demo and with a demo, you can get anything. So considering what we got for it being a demo CD, I'm happy.
  12. Yup, I sent him one lol. Not sure if he got mine before other people's though. I had to repay him for being the first one to send me the link for Out of Ashes after it leaked.
  13. Across The Line is continuing to grow on me. I'm just really glad that the complete version saw the light of day. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thought about this but I wonder if ATL will ever get a live debut. Now that the song has been released, I'm thinking there might be a chance it could be performed at an underground show in the future. I think it's a good enough song for them to play live. And damn, I just love the acronyms used by people on LPL everytime a new LP song (or DBS, etc) comes out. I'm always the last person to figure it out. When I saw someone say ATL earlier, I thought they were saying that they love the city Atlanta. My bad...lmao
  14. Wow, I agree that Across The Line sounds unique and different from most of M2M. I was reminded of Carousel while listening to it the first time, mostly just because of the lyrics I think.
  15. I would have been curious to hear Rob explain in more detail what they didn't like about the NRL rehearsal. I know it's easy to assume that the main factor is simply that Mike's voice is not up to the challenge. It still would have been interesting to hear him elaborate on it more though without putting Mike on the spot. Yes, it was obvious that the song would never be performed live in front of a big audience after Epicenter 09'. I've come to finally accept that fact. However, I still have hope that the song will be performed live at an LPU concert or other small event some day in the future.
  16. Man am I fucking excited about this. I remember when I said that there HAD to be more to Japan than what was on the making of M2M. Looks like I was right. And now, we're going to get to hear the rest of it.
  17. Yea, seriously, I'd hate to continue the eyeliner discussion but this is the second time now that I've seen Chester with the eye liner. He needs to drop it or at least cut back on it. It seems that he's been trying to fit in with the looks of the rest of the band. He doesn't need to do that. Just look like yourself Chesty! There's no point in trying to achieve the emo look. Elias is really the only one in the band who has that look.
  18. Well, this was the show that I would have gone to if I wasn't away at college. This venue is about 20 minutes from my house. I felt like crap when this show was first announced. At least it makes me feel a bit better that I won't be missing out on a M&G opportunity. Still wish I could be there to see them and meet some of you guys.
  19. That was hilarious. All three of those were full of lulz and "xD's". Hope they do more in the future.
  20. Yea, that was definitely the funniest love line for me in recent memory. Ryan made up for Mike not being there. He added on to the humor. It was cool hearing Talinda's voice. Man, I'm going to remember Ryan saying "what's your phone number and address" for a long time.
  21. This is just hilarious hearing Chester's input and reactions to some of this stuff.
  22. I truly hope and believe that there will be a guest appearance by Alex (Gigascythe). He's going to perform In Circles and A Thousand Pieces from Perfection In Tragedy. That would be awesome. It could be like an encore.
  23. No, and as far as I know, the only thing that is known about the song is that it wasn't completed. Just because it wasn't completed doesn't mean that there's not more to the song than what we've heard on the making of the album. I think its possible that the band probably has a demo which contains more than just "na na na na na na the pieces of the secrets, thats something that I'll never find." I think they wrote more lyrics to it. It just wasn't released.
  24. Even though there is almost no chance for Japan, it would still be awesome to hear an acapella version of it. Besides that, I am also hoping for the 6th strings song. I remember the first time I heard that on the DVD and I wondered if that was a completed song or just a snippet for something else that was a demo or not complete. Just the snippet though made it sound epic and I hope the song sees the light of day soon if not on LPU9. The snippet sounded too epic for the rest of it to never be heard.
