He seemed more sensitive to the criticism this time, but I agree Chris' death surely affected him much more. And I'm just gonna repeat here that With You is easier to sing than New Divide, because I can and wanna say it.
Well, I like to sing, and I can safely say songs like New Divide and Burn it Down are much harder for me than most(if not all) of their earlier works. Even adding the drive, it's much easier to nail With You, Pushing Me Away, Lying From You, etc. Plus I don't think Chester would sing Rolling in the Deep that well in the past, he clearly evolved through the years.
I just think it's pointless to search for Youtube cover guys. If you think of how much of a family they were, that makes no sense. I guess they will either grieve and have Mike on lead or bring someone who is already a friend, which narrows down the options a lot.
I think it was just a raw away of expressing that "running away from anything that sounds like Linkin Park" thing that was going on at the time, plus we know the ATS process was very stressful at some moments. Can anyone remind me when he says this in the meeting of ATS?
This is a very important point. I think they can find a way to keep with only Mike singing, but if they bring someone it will probably be a guy they already are friends with.
Chester would never want them to stop, so how could it be a disrespect to his memory if they continue? Whether it's as a 5 piece band or with a new vocalist, I don't see it as a disrespect, it's not their fault that things happened this way and I'm sure they are shattered but it wouldn't bother me at all if they choose to keep under the Linkin Park name.
There's a fragile game we play With the ghosts of yesterday If we can't let go, we'll never say goodbye No trace of what remains No stones to mark the graves Only memories we thought we could deny There was so much more to lose Than the pain I put you through In my carelessness I left you in the dark And the blood may wash away But the scars will never fade At least I know somehow I made a mark
Some songs are particularly painful now, One More Light, Leave Out All The Rest, Nobody Can Save Me, The Messenger specially when you think he wrote it to his kids.
I think this would be kinda morbid, think of a song like Papercut where they always ran and jumped together on stage and hugged each other during the bridge or the outro. A lot of things just wouldn't work.
10 years ago he was clearly talking about the same bad neighbourhood that inspired Heavy: "stuck in my head again, feels like I'll never leave this place, there's no escape, I'm my own worst enemy". I assume he wrote Given Up based on how he felt before his big recovery. Maybe What I've Done was an optimistic view that he would erase that dark past and become a new man. I don't know, a lot of things seem to fit now, it's crazy.
I genuinely thought it would be a Talking to Myself video featuring a Mercedes car when I saw Mike was filming something with a car in his instagram stories
I'd love a new dvd. I wonder if they would correct Good Goodbye in the studio or just erase it from the release, really doubt it would be released that way.
Yeah that would both help and be very convenient for them. It's not a big deal, people age and it's ok. If I'm not wrong, Metallica records albums in standard and then play everything tuned down live.
I think the time is coming for them to tune down their instruments and play a step lower live or it will be really hard to keep Chester's voice healthy for long.
I think they could rotate Sharp Edges and Crawling, that way you have even more variety while keeping it acoustic. Or maybe find a way to keep Sharp Edges in the set and then rotate it with a live debut of Final Masquerade acoustic version.
