2024.09.22 - Hamburg, Germany (Barclays Arena)

A show at Wembley would be insane! How about a show at Maracanã Stadium in November? That would be amazing too... For sure! It’s easy for me to say they should have thought about stadiums after seeing that the demand for tickets was high. It would be amazing, but definitely a big risk. I just don’t know if that demand will still be there in 2025. -

I agree that this tour is a warm-up, but at the same time, it's the biggest chance to do huge shows. While I understand the reason for not doing stadium shows right now, it ends up being a missed opportunity. Maybe they’ll end up doing them to close the tour with those possible new dates in South America. I agree with you. For the next tour, it's better to have medium-sized shows in more places than one giant show in a single location. -

Once again, a show in a small arena, just like in Los Angeles and New York. No arena for more than 20,000 people... They probably didn’t even know the demand for tickets would be so high. Clearly, they have a demand that no one imagined. They could easily play for 40,000 people now. Still, I wonder if Emily and Colin have ever performed for crowds that size. Either way, it’s amazing! I think the demand for tickets is the highest since the end of the Meteora tour. -
There are a few things that ended up not being mentioned in the post. 1) For example, Mike and Colin liked fan posts talking about possible shows in Brazil. 2) After the show on the 5th, Phoenix talked to a friend of mine and his wife. He was asked about a show in Brazil, and he said he believes they are going. There’s a video of this conversation that has even been published in the Brazilian media. 3) It doesn’t make much sense for there to be a standalone show in Colombia. Traditionally, no international artist does just one show in Colombia. Brazil is always the main destination, and other dates in the region are scheduled as a consequence. Now, one thing that makes me a bit doubtful about whether these shows will really happen is the fact that all the band's promotional material mentions only these six shows. Isn’t it strange for the band to sell shirts in LA and NY with tour dates and then add one or two more dates afterward?

2024.09.16 - Brooklyn, New York (Barclays Center)

No need to apologize! That's awesome! I don't have a good memory, so I rely on people like you to remember the details of the shows I attend. I've never liked recording much because I felt like it was limiting my experience. It's great to see someone with a completely different perspective from mine. -

Did you record the entire show with your phone? Can I ask you something? I've always been curious, don't take it the wrong way... but did you hold your phone up for the whole show? Didn't that affect your experience? I'm just curious, that's all... -
Exactly! Moreover, the chance of a rarer song making it into the setlist was practically impossible. I don't know what will happen after the release of From Zero, but between 2012 and 2017 it was practically impossible to have a setlist like today's with My December and Lying From You, along with the debut of songs from previous albums such as Keys to the Kingdom, Lost, and Friendly Fire.

I think LPLive has already answered your question. 😅 The structure of starting with heavy songs, followed by slower songs, and finishing with heavier songs remained the standard for a long time. Also, we had pretty much the same setlist since 2012, always with the addition of a few songs from the latest album. Now, the show is completely different, and it has much more energy from start to finish, with a very quick break for the slower songs. Furthermore, we have the more obvious changes, such as the fact that the show is much bigger than before and the band is more communicative with the audience. Besides, as I mentioned, I felt that Mike ended up being the center of attention in this first show. Even though he shares the spotlight with Emily, he gained more space compared to previous performances. It was a hyperbole when I said that sometimes it feels like his show. The fact that they needed to change the setlist to make use of songs that better suit Mike and Emily as a duo ended up resulting in a show with more songs featuring Mike. That’s just an impression I had, and I’m not sure if everyone agrees. I really enjoyed the show, mainly because it broke the previous structure, which sometimes got a bit tiresome.

Here’s my honest opinion: I really liked it. I still think they're learning how to act on stage, but the show in Los Angeles was really cool. They split the band into two groups, one led by Mike and the other by Emily. Each group stays on their side of the stage, and they switch halfway through the show. When Mike was on my side, it was really great. But when Emily was on my side, I felt a bit left out because she runs all over the stage without stopping. 🤣 Now, with the 360º stage, you end up closer to the action. I was in the section closest to the stage, and the audience has more space to get near it, making it much more comfortable to watch. It's a shame that the show in Bogotá, which I'm going to in November, won’t have the 360º stage. I keep wondering if it’ll be the only one on this year’s tour without it. -
Yes, for sure! It's amazing that nothing leaked about the tour that would start the following week, an album that will be released in a few months, and a song that would be released immediately on streaming platforms. That's why I mentioned that so many professionals were involved, and the only information that leaked came because a friend said too much in an interview.

It might be a wrong impression (especially since I'm not an expert), but I saw a lot more cameras than usual at the Los Angeles show. I got the slight impression that it wasn’t just for the big screen... I'm probably mistaken. Now, if you think about it rationally, it doesn't make sense to release these shows in professional quality, since the band knows their performance is still evolving. They would probably prefer to wait until they're more polished before making any new official releases, ensuring that what goes out represents them at their best. -

Yes, we also have to remember that these songs were made for Chester's voice. She is taking on someone else's work while the band is trying to adapt these songs to fit her vocal range. For example, her performance in Emptiness Machine is flawless. It's not just her who is 'learning,' the band is too. Moreover, half of the band that had chemistry is off the stage, and this makes her job harder. I haven't seen videos of the New York show yet, but the performance I saw of her in Los Angeles left me extremely satisfied. -

You may not like Emily, but you can't say she can't sing after what we saw her do in Keys to the Kingdom, Given Up, and A Place For My Head in those two shows. Now, it's a pity that the setlist changes will be very small. Although it's an almost perfect setlist, it would be interesting to have more changes. They could do like Avenged Sevenfold, who create the setlist based on Spotify streams from the place where they're performing... -

Man, I think you haven't seen her singing Keys to the Kingdom. 😅 It's different from what we're used to, but she knows how to scream really well. -
Everyone deals with grief in their own way, but for example, Avenged Sevenfold uses the vocals of their late drummer at every show. I don’t think it should be at every performance, but we’re talking about their first official show in seven years. Even with the message of moving forward without erasing the past, I think a tribute was important. I think this might have been the most unexpected thing about the show. Of course, since it's something personal, I can't demand a stance from them and say they're wrong. I think there was a lack of sensitivity, but it wasn't a mistake... It was just a detail that could have been avoided. I think having a tribute at every show could actually make it seem like they are profiting from a tragedy, which we know is not the band's style. Now, I just think that the first official show in seven years should have had more mentions of Chester. That's all... but I respect your opinion. I think the difference is that they are using the band's name for the first time in seven years. I think it's different, especially because of the attempt to move forward with the band's legacy. TO WRAP UP THE SUBJECT: I may not have expressed myself in the best way. I think there could have been a tribute moment since it was the first show in 7 years, but that doesn't mean they acted wrongly by not doing so. Everyone deals with grief and tries to move on with their life in different ways. I loved the show, and it was the most emotional one I've ever attended. It's just a detail that caught me off guard, as I thought Chester would be more 'present.' It might have been an expectation that wasn’t fulfilled. I loved the show, and it was one of the most special days of my life! I didn’t want this to come across as criticism.

After an 18-hour flight, I’m back in Brazil and have some thoughts about the concert I attended in Los Angeles that took place on Wednesday. 1) Obviously, the focus has shifted. Mike is drawing a lot of the audience's attention to himself, even putting Emily on a lower level. I find this move interesting at first to avoid the internet hate aimed at her. 2) Since Mike is appearing more, at times it felt like it was his own show. This opened up many opportunities to make the show more appealing and break away from the pattern the band had between 2012 and 2017, when their shows saw little innovation. 3) Emily was amazing in some songs, especially in Keys to the Kingdom. I think that’s when she won my approval. It's hard not to make comparisons, but given the current situation, I think she was indeed the best option. 4) The whole band was emotional and nervous. Emily messed up some lyrics, and Mike almost seemed to cry a couple of times, besides having trouble remembering the lyrics to "There They Go." In a way, this made the show even more genuine. 5) The fact that this new phase features a new vocalist and Mike getting more attention allowed the band to gift the fans with rare songs. It became clear to me that the intention was to reward the fans and gain their support for this new phase, but once the album is released, these songs will disappear from the setlist, just like what happened in the 2012 shows before the release of Living Things. 6) It’s hard to notice in the videos, but I’d like to know if anyone else who was at the show also noticed that Mike’s voice sounded different. I’m not sure if it was an effect or just a wrong impression, but it sounded relatively different. 7) I think the band lacked a bit of sensitivity regarding Chester. His name was only mentioned once, and very quickly. I know they want to move forward, but for the first official show in 7 years, a small tribute was necessary to truly move on. For this particular show, they should have played One More Light. 8 ) I think commercially, the show and the new phase are perfect. The band is attracting the most attention they’ve had since the release of Minutes to Midnight and pleasing fans by playing rare songs, while also investing in a visual spectacle and talking about a new chapter. 9) I think Joe also took on more of a lead role. In the past, he used to stay still at the back, especially during songs where his contribution wasn’t major. Now, he’s always interacting with the other members and the audience, making the new stage structure really count. 10) I think the 360° stage setup is incredible, and it’s a shame it won’t be in Bogotá, where I’ll be attending the next show. Mike started facing my side, and when he switched halfway through the show, we felt a bit “left out” because he stayed on the other side a lot, while Emily kept moving around non-stop. The show was extraordinary, and I think it can get even better. I see them gaining a lot of attention in the coming years with the new album and tours through festivals. I hope the lineup stays solid for a long time!

Linkin Park Sells Out Comeback Shows in Los Angeles and Brooklyn
LeonardoMF93 replied to LPLStaff's topic in Newswire
Guys, the LA show is scheduled for 7:30 PM. Does anyone know what time the gates open for the LPU and what time they open for the general public? -
I didn't see any limitation, but it must exist. I bought two tickets. I think you won’t have problems buying four, but I'm not sure. I think it also depends on who organized the show and may not be a specific rule of the LPU.

If it's the same as the pre-sale for the shows in the US, yes. The difference is that you will have priority 2, while those who were members before will have priority 1. I did exactly what you're planning to do and got two tickets for the closest sector to the stage, but they sold out very quickly right after. If you want to go to the show, joining the LPU is pretty much essential. -

I totally disagree. Okay, he doesn't need to explain his reasons, but I think it would be courteous of him to say goodbye, both to the fans and to the band. It's worth remembering that the fans are an important part of the success he has achieved
