After an 18-hour flight, I’m back in Brazil and have some thoughts about the concert I attended in Los Angeles that took place on Wednesday. 1) Obviously, the focus has shifted. Mike is drawing a lot of the audience's attention to himself, even putting Emily on a lower level. I find this move interesting at first to avoid the internet hate aimed at her. 2) Since Mike is appearing more, at times it felt like it was his own show. This opened up many opportunities to make the show more appealing and break away from the pattern the band had between 2012 and 2017, when their shows saw little innovation. 3) Emily was amazing in some songs, especially in Keys to the Kingdom. I think that’s when she won my approval. It's hard not to make comparisons, but given the current situation, I think she was indeed the best option. 4) The whole band was emotional and nervous. Emily messed up some lyrics, and Mike almost seemed to cry a couple of times, besides having trouble remembering the lyrics to "There They Go." In a way, this made the show even more genuine. 5) The fact that this new phase features a new vocalist and Mike getting more attention allowed the band to gift the fans with rare songs. It became clear to me that the intention was to reward the fans and gain their support for this new phase, but once the album is released, these songs will disappear from the setlist, just like what happened in the 2012 shows before the release of Living Things. 6) It’s hard to notice in the videos, but I’d like to know if anyone else who was at the show also noticed that Mike’s voice sounded different. I’m not sure if it was an effect or just a wrong impression, but it sounded relatively different. 7) I think the band lacked a bit of sensitivity regarding Chester. His name was only mentioned once, and very quickly. I know they want to move forward, but for the first official show in 7 years, a small tribute was necessary to truly move on. For this particular show, they should have played One More Light. 8 ) I think commercially, the show and the new phase are perfect. The band is attracting the most attention they’ve had since the release of Minutes to Midnight and pleasing fans by playing rare songs, while also investing in a visual spectacle and talking about a new chapter. 9) I think Joe also took on more of a lead role. In the past, he used to stay still at the back, especially during songs where his contribution wasn’t major. Now, he’s always interacting with the other members and the audience, making the new stage structure really count. 10) I think the 360° stage setup is incredible, and it’s a shame it won’t be in Bogotá, where I’ll be attending the next show. Mike started facing my side, and when he switched halfway through the show, we felt a bit “left out” because he stayed on the other side a lot, while Emily kept moving around non-stop. The show was extraordinary, and I think it can get even better. I see them gaining a lot of attention in the coming years with the new album and tours through festivals. I hope the lineup stays solid for a long time!

Linkin Park Sells Out Comeback Shows in Los Angeles and Brooklyn
LeonardoMF93 replied to LPLStaff's topic in Newswire
Guys, the LA show is scheduled for 7:30 PM. Does anyone know what time the gates open for the LPU and what time they open for the general public? -
I didn't see any limitation, but it must exist. I bought two tickets. I think you won’t have problems buying four, but I'm not sure. I think it also depends on who organized the show and may not be a specific rule of the LPU.

If it's the same as the pre-sale for the shows in the US, yes. The difference is that you will have priority 2, while those who were members before will have priority 1. I did exactly what you're planning to do and got two tickets for the closest sector to the stage, but they sold out very quickly right after. If you want to go to the show, joining the LPU is pretty much essential. -

I totally disagree. Okay, he doesn't need to explain his reasons, but I think it would be courteous of him to say goodbye, both to the fans and to the band. It's worth remembering that the fans are an important part of the success he has achieved

I really think that's what happened. I wrote this before, but I think Rob was in the right place at the right time when the band became famous, also because of his talent. I don’t know, I always had the impression that he and Joe (he proved me wrong) weren’t that enthusiastic about the career itself. When Chester passed away, Rob must have felt like his chapter was over too. Maybe it was a feeling he already had, but due to tours, albums, contracts, and respect for the other members, he couldn't act on it. The problem is that it’s all speculation because he just disappeared. It's not the other members' role to explain Rob's reasons, so he could have taken five minutes or asked someone from his team to write a farewell message, or at least record a video. Will we never know anything more about him?

100% correct. I bought my ticket for the floor and renewed my LPU just yesterday. -
Don't get me wrong, I completely understand Rob not wanting to participate in a new phase. It might be a mistaken perception, but I've always had the feeling that in recent years he wasn't that interested in this career and was there due to contractual obligations. Now, the least he could do is release a statement thanking the fans. Either way, I wish him the best. He was very kind when I met him.

Yeah, you're right!

I couldn't agree more with you. I think it's just a phase where some things are new and still need to be accepted by the subconscious. The day before yesterday, I was hesitant about a comeback. Now everything seems to be the best possible decision. As for Rob, he will be greatly missed. Still, I always felt that he never really cared much about being in the spotlight. I think it's a matter of personality, and when Chester passed away, he finally understood that the chapter was already over. This is completely my speculation, but maybe he wanted to leave earlier, but contracts and planning didn’t allow it. As for Brad, there's that feeling of being in between. He's there and not there. I’m really happy that he hasn’t disappeared like Rob, but he will be greatly missed on stage. I also think it’s a health issue, but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him showing up for one or two songs at a future show
-
Half of the band on stage will be different. I really liked what I saw, but it will take some time for my subconscious to accept and process that Linkin Park is on stage without Chester, Brad, and Rob.

Now it really feels like everything is getting back to normal! 😂

This is so sad! The feeling is like when a dear friend moves far away. Even though you know everything is fine and he's still "around," you won't see each other as often. I wish him the very best and hope he shows up at a concert now and then to play a song or two in the coming years.

What are the chances that the LPU pre-sales will sell out the tickets for the shows in the US? -
LPLive, where's the page dedicated to the 2024 shows? You need to create it! LOL Just kidding! 😄

I think it wasn’t like that in the past, but it makes sense at this moment. -

Guys, I have a question. I want to buy tickets for the Los Angeles show. I went to renew my LPU and it said that my membership needs to be active at the time of the tour announcement to have access to the pre-sale. Does this mean that if I sign up for the LPU now, I won’t have access to tomorrow’s pre-sale? -

Definitely, we should have more dates for South America and Asia. Now there is no more room between these dates for many other shows. -
