i don't think the single is doing very well at all, from what i can see it's doing pretty badly. But i also wonder, since this album is so different, if they maybe opened with the single most different, to get the shock out of everyone's system before bringing out the awesomeness. From what I understand, the Kerrang! crew are pretty meh on the single, but where pretty excited by the Six track sampler. It's not that the Catalyst is a bad song, it has an awesome opening and a great ending, it just has a very messy and basic synth in the middle.

Oh crap. Songs on DJ Hero? Does that mean more dance songs on the album!? =( Didn't DJ hero bomb anyways?

Trying so hard to like it, I keep playing it but argghh.... It would have been an epic song had you replaced the Fisher price My first Synth with some guitars. The synth is god damn awful. It ruins an epic song, this is not rock. This has all the makings off a classic LP song, the type of thing i was expecting from the band, until they decided to try and not sound like themselves, which is what they are good at. I think it would have been one of my favorite songs if the middle was full of guitars, how can you rock out to something that sounds like this!?

Trying very hard to like it. Keep listening to it and it's not unlistenable, waiting for it to grow on me. I think it starts off very well and it ends very well, but the middle right now seems a bit messy at the moment, too many different sounds overlaid and distracting and I feel the effects on the vocals are still a little to much. The song seems to have too much going on at once and the problem being they don't fit together too well, so it becomes overwhelming. The song when it is a bit more simple (The start and the end) seem quite nice. For me, if you take the start and the end, then replace the middle with something Guitar driven with a bigger focus on the vocals, you would have something amazing.

WTF is this!?!?! Sounds like Linkin Park have become Pendulum one of the bands I hate the most.

Hmm.. now what to do. I am not sure if it's a good idea to keep listening to all these little clips and possibly a link or just wait for the full version on Monday. It will be easy for me since i am away from Thursday, but I keep playing to clips, i can't help myself lol

Umm... I'm actually really starting to like this shizz! Excitement is boiling!! I'm going away to Sonisphere on Thursday, which is interesting, the song will be out on the Monday when i get back and the Festival marks a year since I last saw LP (At the same festival in 2009)

Liking the new clip a lot better, still rather different but liking it.

Innerpartysystem are dancey though. What am hoping for is lots of guitars with lots of electronic distortion and effects, something like New divide, but a bit more. Would be happy with that.

I think the problem is, that Linkin park songs are on the most part: 1) Songs you can rock out to 2) Songs you can sing along too at the same time. This is the killer combination that has served LP so well, built the fan base and sold the zillions of records. So far all that looks to be gone. The underlying track is just distracting and the vocals are not very clear, too distorted. To me, you can mess around and experiment with as much as you want, you don't need to recreate another Hybrid Theory, you can evolve and evolve hugely, but don't mess with this formula. Mike talked about wanting to create music with meaning, you are not going to create a meaning if the song fails to make an impact because it has too many over produced crazy sounds. I was hoping the more 'Electronic" sound would be something along the lines of New Divide and then some. Hoping for a bit more heavy than what this offers so far. Fingers crossed!

Hmm it is very troubling, the more i listen to this, this is not Rock, this is Dance music and I hate Dance music. Every person I have ever known and been friends with that liked LP liked them and saw them as a ROCK band, they where all fans of ROCK music. I understand that LP fans have a rather varried set of tastes compared to must rock bands but meh. If this album sucks, I think the fan base share a lot of the blame, when New Divide came out, people ripped into what is a fantastic song saying it sounded like What i Done when it in no way does. It seems (and is confirmed by the recent LPTV) that the band are purposely trying to not sound like Linkin Park. Well that's the reason people like them, because they are Linkin Park.

Yes =( and this is bad, very very bad. I don't want LP to become some kinda Dance band. We need Guitars, We need some Metalz!

You got to remember the people behind LPA are idiots. Meh. Why so much dissertation on the vocals. Hmmz. Hope am not looking for a new favourite band after this album.

Seems to me the video shoot has gone horribly wrong. Guess it all started when Joe emailed Mike, wanted him to paint an elephant. Mike got confused, got the rest of the band together and attacked an elephant with a load of paint, the elephant didn't think much of this idea, did some kung fu and the paint ended up all over Chester. Mike's misunderstanding lead to holding up the album and it's first video is already ruined.

To date everything LP has done has been better than the last but this time things are truly looking intreasting. I think it will be either Epic or Fail, but nothing inbetween.

Hmm appears my bad, what was playing was some snippets i downloaded earlier rather than the ones i just downloaded.

hmm the official release doesn't have Chester's Vocals? So maybe we did gain something from that crappy site!!!! At least the country list is more than just the US, it was for that reason I left the LPU earlier this year.

Well cool, but it's already pretty much into Friday no matter what time zone your in, so about time they released it if they said they would! Mike did say that you could use whatever recording software you want remember, so don't worry. Would be awesome if the snippets were somehow different. Or it might be cool to release just the snippets without any stupid web recording software, so that people that have no clue what they are doing don't just hit random buttons and submit. You would end up with thousands and thousands of entries and not possible to listen to them all, might miss so proper remixes in there. I'd love to enter, truely would love too. I am a very creative person. Trouble is, I can't play any instrument and I have only messed around with audio software very slightly in the past, so i don't think it's worth me submitting an entry.

Maybe that was left out so people can add there own instruments and guitar tracks and them not wanting to give too much away. To those who are complaining about mike's "singing", Mike is in no way singing in this track, it is edited and distroted rapping, it sounds like a chant. People that are complaining it sounds over produced, i thought that at first but am now liking it. But the important thing to remember, this is a copy of the excat vocal track meant to be over an instrumental backing track, it most likely takes on a completely different tone when done so.

When does the contest end? I will be purchasing a vuvuzela from ebay to record and learning some mixing software to create a mix.

Hmm the site is so so so crap. I can't even listen to any of the made mixes before going into the mixer, one played for like 3 seconds and cut off and then never again. At first i heard it, i was like OMG, this sounds completely horrible. Then I heard the LPA mix, hated that too. Was getting a little worried for the direction and yes i know this is only a small peak. But then I listened to the snippets posted here and i have to say, each one sounds amazing, I wonder how they are all going to mix together!! Really want to hear Chesters vocals!! And where is brad on his vuvuzela are LP doing a resting policy where one member takes a rest from each album? Joe on MTM... Brad on this? haha.

LP are already getting ripped into by anybody that likes iron maiden due to the fact the last album was minutes to midnight and now the album is a thousand suns, are they borrowing from Iron maiden song names or what?

Hmm I don't really like the idea of someone screwing around with the music and it getting on the album. I'm sure it's something that as it unfolds will turn out to be super awesome, but right now to me, it just seems like a cheap marketing trick. I'm also wondering how much to listen to the LP song + Snippets before the album. I'm thinking about just going down to the store and buying it on the day it comes out (plus not listening to any leaks that come out before hand). But very excited about this, glad we had some concrete info, wasn't expecting to come home from work and hear this news!
