Astat Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Most people probably don't know this, but there are a total of EIGHT versions of the song It's Goin' Down, which is a source of confusion for many people, wondering which version of the song they have. I've decided to post a thread to end all questions about this and point out the differences between the versions. Demo Version (3:33) - This version lacks the "Put it out for the world to see..." chorus found in the album version. It also has a short female voice clip at the beginning that says "I knew I was being threatened, do you think it's worth holding out? I mean, I've heard some pretty ugly things about those guys...ugly stories." This female voice clip is only present in the demo and promo versions. Promo Version (3:33) - This is essentially the same thing as the demo version, except during the breakdown (approximately 2:36) there is a voiceover saying "Yo, it's request only, X-Ecutioners Built From Scratch, album in stores soon." Radio Edit #1 (3:37) - This version is found on the Australian CD single of the song. It lacks the few seconds of guitar feedback at the beginning of the song and fades in abruptly on the first repetition of the guitar riff with the "watch them flee" sample. This version (and all following versions) has the "Put it out for the world to see..." chorus in it. Radio Edit #2 (3:45) - Essentially the same thing as the first radio edit, except it does have the guitar feedback at the beginning. Video Edit (3:49) - Similar to the second radio edit, except this version has one extra repeat of the main riff at the end of the song. Album Version (4:08) - The full-length version found on the Built From Scratch CD. Instrumental (4:08) - Instrumental version of the song, as performed on the album. Scratchapella (2:13) - Found on the It's Goin' Down promo vinyl along with the instrumental, this is a bit of an oddity. It's essentially all the scratching and various samples found in the song without any other music, and the long breaks of silence between them are removed for the most part. As most of these versions have been officially released in some manner, I won't offer download links here, but hopefully this will help clear up any questions about what version(s) of the song you have. Aiman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 ...and that doesn't even include the live versions Quote

DJStoll Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Anybody know the origin of the female voice clip? Something about it (probably the background humming) says "dubbed anime" to me... Quote
linkinpark11 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Anybody know the origin of the female voice clip? Something about it (probably the background humming) says "dubbed anime" to me... sounds kinda like the voice on the Xero song "fuse" and I read somewhere else that voice was Mr. Hahn's alter ego called Remy Quote
immortalsoul Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Oh cool, I always wanted to know what kind of versions I have from "It's Goin' Down" and just found out that I have the demo version and the album version! So thanks for that! Quote

SergSlim Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I do remember I saw this thread somewhere... It wasn't easy to find it, lol Anyway, today I got a hold of rips of some Promo CD, and there were few with It's Goin' Down. I have a rip of CD with Promo version - It is 3mn 32s Also I have a rip of this CD - It's Goin' Down RPROCD 4548 First song is most likely Radio Edit #1. It is 3mn 38s Second one is something that's not in Astat's list, I suppose. It is 4mn 4s. It has the "Watch them flee" at the beginning, which is not in the Album version, of the similar length. And I have my CD, which is an ordinary album version - 4mn 8s. Quote

SergSlim Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 are you sure about that? my album version have "watch them flee" at the beginning. your version sounds like shortest rip. Damn... You are right.. How the hell I thought that it doesn't, lol... In that case the only difference is that this 4:04 version does not have that intro before guitars come in. Rip was done with EAC, so I'm sure that it is correct. Here are the screenshots of spectral frequency of both versions. Quote
Geki Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I only have the album version and the demo. Haha. Quote
Skipees Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) no question: this is the Ninth version. it's probably from the Vinyl Pormo. Edit: "Feat. Linkin Park"? Edit 2: the Australian Single Includes the Tenth Version - 4:22 Edited April 5, 2013 by Skipees Quote
SergSlim Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Edit: "Feat. Linkin Park"? I had the whole CD ripped without tags, and when I was filling them in from this picture - I was also like WTF??? For years I've been telling people that they shouldn't say feat. Linkin Park in regards to this track, and now I found that it was written this way on the Promo CD, lol. Edit 2: the Australian Single Includes the Tenth Version - 4:22 Hmm. Can there be a mistake in timing?Info by that URL says that it is Label: Loud Records – SAMP 2433 Googling SAMP 2433 led me to eBay On the picture of the lot it is clearly seen that second track is 4:08. I suppose that there's a mistake on discogs. I've never heard of that longer version. Quote
