LPLStaff Posted March 7 Posted March 7 As everyone knows by now, Linkin Park at the end of their latest 2025 LPTV tour episode teased a new song. Mike and Emily are seen in footage from Mike's home studio in Los Angeles as Emily enters the vocal booth and starts singing over an instrumental fans have not heard before. This episode came exactly six months to the day of Linkin Park's comeback and comes over 100 days after the release of From Zero. Mike has previously spoken about the length of From Zero, saying the band deliberately kept it short so fans would want to listen to it several times in a row. Of course this essentially confirms that more songs were recorded, at least partially, during the album sessions. On Instagram Live in September 2024, Colin said, "There’s also a couple of songs that we haven't released yet that may or may not come out next year, that we're still working on, they are really amazing." He added that these other songs have great lyrics. Within a month of these comments, in October 2024, the band was posting on social media that they were back in the studio recording more new music. So, at this point, more new music is not too surprising but what is surprising is the timing of it and that it could be coming soon. Mike already posted a link on his Instagram Story about the LPTV with a side eye emoji. So what could the song be for? Recent trends in music have had bands release "Deluxe Editions" or "Tour Editions" of albums during major touring years, after the release of the main album. This could be a possibility. With Linkin Park, anything could happen - a single, an EP, or more. Currently the only known thing on the horizon for fans in 2025 is the release of the Brazil 2024 show in theaters at some point, which is still unknown. This will mark the first standalone live release by LP from the new era of the band. Rumors from Brazilian fans at the shows say the band's crew mentioned a possible documentary about Linkin Park as well. As far as "known unknown" songs (songs we know exist because the band has mentioned them, but that we have not heard) from the From Zero era, Emily mentioned singing on two demos titled 'Unshatter' and 'Vertigo', but these are likely much older demos as Emily mentioned they are among some of the first songs she sang... with 'Vertigo' dating back to around 2019. She also mentioned that she was recording a song titled 'Breathing Underwater' with Linkin Park when Mike, Joe, and Dave brought her into a room to tell her they'd like her to sing with them at some upcoming concerts. Not a lot of song titles from the era are currently known, so it is likely this could be something completely unknown to fans. So, what do you think? What would you like to see them do? We will keep you updated on all news and information regarding this new song and its release as it happens. Quote
Sukotto Posted March 7 Posted March 7 There was the Meteora and MTM Tour Editions, so not unheard of from the band. Excited to see what happens. Quote
Rasputin 93 Posted March 7 Posted March 7 If there would be any new album title I'd wish for, it'd be And One. But realistically, it's likely just a Tour Edition or some kind of addendum release instead. Quote
Dan_LP Posted March 7 Posted March 7 There was only 4 months between Post Traumatic Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition.. Quote
leftshoe18 Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to it. I've absolutely loved this era of the band and I'm excited for more! Quote

bloodbath Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Too short to review anything. But the fact that they deliberately put the snippet as a "post credit" scene, definitely confirm us that there's more music coming, whether is a new EP or an expanded edition (I'd prefer the former). It's not like your classical Fiore tactic of release some b-side on the background of the video to fuck up with hardcore fans for something that might never see the light of day Quote
demoncarnotaur Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I could see a From Zero Extended Edition with a few new songs, plus some live tracks - hope we don't have to wait too long! With that tease at the end, I can't imagine it's gonna be long. Also, WTF, this made me learn about the acoustic version of The Emptiness Machine -- are there other performances like that from them? Not in this era, but you have the Mike & Chester promo tour back in 2017. They played Heavy and a couple of tracks acoustically a few times Quote

There's also a thousand suns +, living things Australian tour edition, living things +, etc... The only one where there's unreleased tracks and not just live tracks is MTM with No roads left. I have a feeling this is a stand alone single Quote

They already released a from zero digital expanded edition with 3 bonus live tracks. I feel like this song will be a new single outside of From Zero Quote

NimaLP Posted March 8 Posted March 8 They should name the second album "To Infinity" and name the third album "And Beyond" and hope they don't get sued. Quote

rd1994 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I honestly genuinely hope its not a From Zero deluxe edition. I really hate when bands pull that stunt. Although 90% of the time the record label is behind it. Quote
LPLStaff Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 How is it a "stunt"? Wouldn't we have literally loved that for every album? Meteora with Lost, Fighting Myself and More the Victim? Minutes to Midnight with No Roads Left, Across the Line, Blackbirds, What We Don't Know, etc? Quote

Wish we had those songs in the regular album, all of those are A+ songs they deserved to be played live. Quote

AceWav Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) It makes perfect sense to release a Deluxe FZ... It's simple marketing. Who wouldn't want to increase the longevity of their album's release and relevancy ESPECIALLY when it's already doing well to begin with? Sure, they could do a double album (a new complete record) but i think their genius for putting together FZ with that quick and snappy track list and make it a short fuse. And then extend the album to a more complete picture a little later on with extra singles that I bet are going to be bangers (assuming it will be more than one song). It feels like we're still in the middle of the album's release this way, and not something of the past anymore. I love that personally. Anyways, still don't know exactly what it actually is, but it's a safe guess at this point, and kind of obvious to. We might get more music videos this way! Maybe another video game collab, or a return to transformers a bit down the road with one of the new tracks. Edited March 10 by AceWav Quote

I think the band fit more with Transformers soundtrack compared to Arcane. All three soundtracks were back to back bangers. WID, ND, Iridescent. + game soundtrack, UIG. I wanna hear more of Emily's range what she can bring to the table for the Transformers + Colin's input on the production side. Quote
