The base is the Billboard article, following Jay's comments, which Dave Brooks confirmed with sources close to the band. Warner and LP are the number one people to kill/wipe anything from the face of the Internet completely within minutes and they let this article run all year? It was surely a plant by the band or label to drum up interest for the upcoming tour dates. Billboard doesn't just post nonsense or lie about stuff, this writer is very well-connected. Either kill the hype in the very beginning, knowing very well sensitivity of the one of the best fanbases in the world, or give respective level of content for the level of hype they created themselves. If this is really it, it’s very poor timing on Mike’s part to make a post saying he’s been “in the lab” and that there’s exciting things coming. The sensitivity that exists, after years and years of nothing (on the front of new things in the band) is so low that it really makes me angry. Enough with the "and but we are the ones who created everything" story. No, wrong. They know very well the hunger that exists in this fanbase that has always supported and defended them. This period is hot: rumors, articles, references to official checks on the band's official website, Mike's posts (the last few days ago), words of hope during M20, multiple music press repost rumors of tour and so far. Damn, there's some stuff. And they never denied it. NEVER. So, from one point of view they are guilty. It's their band and they can do whatever they want. But we have always been here.
