Really disappointing this turned out the way it did, really hope she releases the full tape at some point. The brief bit of Deftest we have is sick and the archivist in me is bothered that we don't have the full thing online.

I haven't mentioned it yet, but now that you've brought it up, someone commented on my YouTube video of the fixed version of "Deftest" a couple weeks ago, saying this:

Quote

my cousin have the full song along with the 4 tracks EP and the a 2 track demo tapes and also 2 singles tracks cassettes
he have :
4 tracks EP
Rhinestone
Reading My Eyes
Fuse
Stick N Move
Dialate & Deftest (2 tracks cassette)
Unknown Song 1 and a Xero song with Mark and a bit of Mike that's sound like She Couldn't.
my cousin also told me that at his mom's house he have other stuff with in total more than 16 Xero songs.

I replied back to him if it's legit and if there's proof. He replied back with this:

Quote

i can't show you, i don't have any rigthts and i don't wanna have trouble with Linkin Park.

I replied back to that comment asking if he has a Discord and never responded back to me, so, unfortunately, I guess that's a dead end, as well, unless you guys can try to ask him about, somehow.

He could be lying, too, for all we know.

That feels a bit too convenient to me personally...

Also didn't Mike say that "She Couldn't" was written from scratch when Chester joined the band, or something to that effect? Aside from the scratch sample not existing prior to 1999, obviously.

I d k man sounds like cap to me, can't really believe it unless there's genuine proof of it, Xero stuff is really rare, for example Jeff Blue and the Band itself has all the stuff, like there's a few people that got some stuff thats either from auditioning for Xero back then or being with the records labels back then. So the odds are really low that someone has different cassettes or EPs etc.

Idk man, all that sounds waaaay too good to be true, if he provides no proof then he is more than likely lying.

hopefully we as a community can get something going. Both Dave Garrett and Jeff Blue have it too but they doesn't seem too keen on releasing it, so dead ends there. anything new come up in the past 26 days?

They could be talking about Pictureboard too

Last week, I liked a post by Jeff about Linkin Park and I said, "I hope someday you can share the demos you have." He liked it and replied, "I hope so too."

I think if he shares them, he could get in trouble with the Warner
From what everyone has noticed, Linkin Park is in such a good phase, I don't see any problem with giving permission to release this demo, or simply with the band/warner creating a web page like "Linkin Park Vault" where fans can buy these demos that weren't released on the HT20 and M20 box sets, as well as audio and video shows.

The band/Warner probably has all of this already digitized.

I've already mentioned this idea that I've always thought about here on the forum in some posts.
This idea could be taken to someone from the band/Warner for discussion.
This won't harm the band's new phase in any way. Everything that comes out of old Linkin Park is always a moment of joy, just like the release of Pinkpop 2007 (on YouTube), the demo of Deftest (which thousands of fans want to hear), among others...

The band will profit from this by selling these items online, and fans will finally be able to hear these demos we've never heard before and see great shows that weren't released on the two box set...I hope someone who works with the band reads this post and takes this idea forward...

As cool as that idea is, anything aside from the unreleased Hybrid Theory demos would need clearance from Mark, which almost definitely isn't happening.

But the demos that came out on HT20 didn't have Mark permission?

They did. But Mike mentioned Mark begrudgingly did so. Meaning he wasn’t too happy about it

I think everything is negotiable.
just like what happened in HT20.

I would say it's highly unlikely anything older than 1999 ever gets released officially. Mike said it himself in his own Discord server:Screenshot_20250525_014558_Discord.jpg?e

I had forgotten about this post of his 😕
Even so, we have more demos that could be made available/concerts, etc...
I'm wondering about HT30th, how will the band celebrate it?

Sucks that they released an incomplete tape i like Fuse.

very incomplete too, since Reading My Eyes is the only song that actually came straight off of that tape. Rhinestone is the New Music Sampler version and Stick N Move is the Hybrid Theory version.

I think they could release the rest of the demos for the 25th anniversary of Hybrid Theory, I have a feeling they'll do something this year

Never say never but never be too certain. He did say he *probably* won't be releasing more Xero demos so that doesn't completely rule it out, but it's so unlikely he will. I wouldn't count on it.

Hybrid Theory demos maybe, there's at least 2 more that haven't been released or leaked anywhere.

I can’t see the screenshot. Could you upload it elsewhere, perhaps?

Also, since it’s highly unlikely anything older than 1999 will ever get released officially, maybe the band wouldn’t really care if Dave Garrett and Jeff Blue share the Xero demos (at the very least).

I mean, Mike didn’t really care too much with the Xero A&R tape, from what I can remember. I remembered something about as long as it wasn’t under the Linkin Park name, it wasn’t a problem, or something like that. I could be misremembering that part.

I'm not up to the task of finding another image hosting site, but in the image, Discord user Kerophy asks Mike Shinoda on his official Discord server if the band will ever "release Deftest and Fuse outside of demo tapes" to which he responds that that he will "probably not release any more Xero demos"

As for your second point, the band probably wouldn't care. In the case of the LABEL however, Jeff Blue could definitely get in a lot of trouble if he lets any of them leak. Dave Garrett could probably either release them himself or give them to someone else with no repercussions, since he's not been connected with the music industry in decades. Probably wouldn't even bother Mike as long as he asks first, whenever they meet again. Mike actually does pop in the server every once in a while so maybe one of us can ask him about Dave and whether or not he can share the stuff he's got in his collection.

Here's a photo of them hanging out just last year:

I don't follow the discord much, but it would be great if someone could ask him about these demos and also if the band ever plans to create a collection to sell their old shows to fans.

Could someone please ask Mike?
