RogueSoul
The second show of the band's short excursion in Brazil is happening in Brasília! The band will be performing as part of Circuito Banco do Brasil, at the Estacionamento do Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília. This will be the band's first time performing in the city. The band performed the first of two dates in Brazil yesterday in Belo Horizonte, and it was... interesting, to say the least. Technical difficulties plagued the band onstage, and Brad was not present at any point in the show (which will likely remain to be true for this show). 'Castle Of Glass' was dropped completely due to Mike having keyboard issues and 'Final Masquerade' and 'Burn It Down' were butchered due to the same issues. Benjamin Chandler, Brad's guitar tech, while making a few mistakes here and there, proved to be a worthy replacement for Brad onstage. 'The Catalyst' refrain was also supposed to be sang over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out', but that was dropped, too. Otherwise, the band performed the regular version of Set B, without having any changes from the Carnivores Tour. Since the issue has arisen, let's take a moment to discuss it: band members missing shows. This isn't the first time it's happened: Phoenix missed a show in 2011 on their Asian Tour, in Bangkok, Thailand due to food poisoning. He was replaced by his tech, Ted. Brad has a history of missing shows: in 2008, the band cancelled two shows in Sweden and Switzerland due to him being ill, he skipped the two promotional shows in 2012 in Japan (Tokyo, Chiba) due to another illness, where he was replaced by his tech, Jeremy, and just skipping the extensive rehearsal in 2011 in Sunrise, Florida. Additionally, while he didn't miss the show, Mike's guitar tech, Kurt, played the 'Shadow Of The Day' solo for him when he broke his hand on the 2007 Australian Tour. A speculation has come up about Brad - has he been skipping the short international tours for a reason? In 2012, the band played two shows in Los Angeles only a few days after the shows in Asia, where he appeared perfectly fine. Coincidentally, the band will be playing two shows in Los Angeles and Las Vegas respectively once they return from Brazil. Is Brad skipping the short international tours because it'd be more convenient to stay at home? While we don't know the true reason that Brad didn't attend to show, we can sure take a few guesses. Check out this performance of 'With You' and 'One Step Closer' live from Belo Horizonte! Despite a few mistakes here and there, Brad's tech did a pretty good job! If you watched the stream, how did you think Ben did? The other bands on the bill also did a pretty great job of rocking the stage! Nação Zumbi and Titãs brought the Brazilian vibe to the stage, rocking out and getting the crowd pumped! Panic! At The Disco played a jamming setlist as well, performing hits like 'The Ballad Of Mona Lisa' and 'Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off', as well as some older tracks like 'Time To Dance' and 'The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage'. The band performed new songs from their recent release, Too Weird To Live, To Rare To Die!, such as 'This Is Gospel' and 'Miss Jackson'. The band ended their set with a bang, with their old jam, 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies'. They will surely continue to huge energy they displayed at tomorrow's last show of Circuito Banco do Brasil! The festival doesn't end there: At the beginning of November, the second leg of the festival will visit cities including São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with Kings Of Leon, Paramore, MGMT, Skank, and Pitty. Who's heading to the show? Our friends over at LinkinPark:BR will be there! They've recently scored an interview with Grey Daze members/associates, and want YOU to submit your questions! Post your question here and see if it gets answered! The band will likely perform Set A at this show, since Set B was performed at the previous show in Belo Horizonte. After this show, the band will return to the U.S. to perform at Guitar Center's 50th Anniversary in Los Angeles, California and at the 'Stars Of The Season' Gaia in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band recently released a new song, entitled 'WHITE NOISE' from the soundtrack of Joe's movie, MALL, and it's available for download for free! Check back here or follow us on Twitter for updates on the show! HyruleKing
Tonight i think we will have Set A. Who knows, maybe they have reharsed new songs for this tour, but since Brad is not going to play, Benjamin doesn't know how to play them, so the band decided to return to their standard setlists. I wish this is true But, anyway LP must bring another songs from THP to their setlist. If not in Brazil, maybe in short time on next European tour. hahninator
Definitely need to hear the Oppenheimer speech over Castle. Some friends are saying Benjamin fucking nailed the show on guitar. Do we have a new guitarist?? Ha. Can we get APFMH? HyruleKing
This should be the last show for Benjamin (hopefully, because this means Brad will get better the next week). Regarding what you said on Facebook: What I wonder is: is only Brad's "fault" that we don't have APFMH in the setlist? If yes it doesn't make much sense: I don't think that all the six members of LP are fan of all the singles in the set. I don't think for example Chester is a fan of playing Numb every single show. They play them because are singles and in their opinion the fanbase want to hear these songs. APFMH is so popular that it can be considered as a single, so how Chester does the ""sacrifice"" playing Numb for 38921th time and get the fanbase pleased, Brad should do the same and gets a little bored for only three minute and let the fanbase go absolutely crazy for that shit. In regards to APFMH: I don't know if it's ONLY Brad. Dmitry asked Mike in Holmdel this year about it and Mike said he knows fans want it but he was "outvoted" on it in the setlists. Chester wants to play it, he loves the song and it's no secret he blows the fuck up on it. Chester even got the song played in Melbourne last year, when it was audibly obviously that the fans wanted ITE over APFMH when it came to that fan vote and Chester said fuck it, let's do APFMH. I love it. I do know that in August, LP didn't show any interest when making the Carnivores setlists in keeping the rarer Hybrid Theory songs around. By that, I am referring to Forgotten, By Myself, and Pushing Me Away. Runaway was kept because the transition to Wastelands is good and even though Chester doesn't like the song, they seem to be ok with keeping part of it. I guess APFMH falls into this category. I can ASSUME that based on Brad's activity on the actual stage that he does not enjoy playing the heavier songs and he likes the different stuff. A good example of this that I can give you is OSC at San Diego in July. He goes behind the keyboard on the bridge and looks extremely uninterested. Fast forward to Carnivores and he blows UP on Castle Of Dance - dancing around and going wild on stage. He doesn't seem to jam at all on the heavier stuff. So I assume it's Brad there, but it could also be Rob and Phoenix. You can rule out Mike and Chester (and probably Joe since he doesn't do much on APFMH), so half of the band is remaining when it comes to APFMH. So based on the on stage antics, Brad is the most likely candidate to me to vote OUT APFMH in the setlists. It's no secret that APFMH is a fan favorite. I know everyone loves Papercut and Points so I don't know how popular APFMH is compared to THOSE songs, but I do know the crowd goes wild for APFMH and loves to see it live. I also agree that surely they get bored playing Numb for the millionth time. Mike this year in an interview (anyone know which one?) or something said that they sometimes make songs in the studio for certain purposes (likely referring to radio play, for a big single to push to radio) that they feel obligated to play live. Aaaaand that's Burn It Down to me, ha. So I bet they're tired of playing that one too. Just drop one of those two and add in APFMH and bam, people are ecstatic. thedamian58c
APFMH is so popular that it can be considered as a single, so how Chester does the ""sacrifice"" playing Numb for 38921th time and get the fanbase pleased Did you actually count it? I totally agree with you, I feel underrated as a real LP fan, because LP cares more about people that know only singles than those who are actually LP fans. In my opinion they should shorten most of the singles, and add songs for hardcore LP fans, another thing is that they should cut out instrumentals, and the last most important is that they should rotate songs in the setlist. GlassCastles
That better not be a one time thing. I want that shit to stay in the sets forever. Oppenheimer Outro 2.0 is fantastic, and that small sample of WJL is a really great touch. Geki
I know I'm going to piss off 99% of LPL when I say this, but why the hell should the band play stuff like Forgotten or By Myself now in 2014? Obviously they had to for Download because they were performing Hybrid Theory in full, but I don't see why they would keep stuff that was a non-single in the set now in 2014, it's been such a long time and they have a lot of music at this point. I'm sure they would rather play their bigger hits instead of stuff that people won't know. This is the same reason that I see no reason for them to play stuff like Hit The Floor, High Voltage, P5hng Me A*wy, No More Sorrow, Don't Stay, Figure.09, etc. I've never been one to bitch about how LP doesn't play their old stuff. I usually am the one to complain that they don't play enough of the NEW stuff. I really wanted them to play stuff like I'LL BE GONE, ROADS UNTRAVELED, SKIN TO BONE, UNTIL IT BREAKS and POWERLESS back in 2012/2013, but they never did. I also want them to play stuff like Keys To The Kingdom, All For Nothing, War, Mark The Graves and A Line In The Sand nowadays. Obviously the band is going to play stuff like Numb, In The End, What I've Done, BURN IT DOWN, etc. at every show, because they are the biggest hits, they aren't going to sacrifice that stuff for shitty songs like Forgotten or Figure.09, and why should they? Just to please the 5% of people at the show that can't let go of their nu-metal past? Also, I agree that Brad is not the best guitar player of our time, but he isn't THAT bad, and so what if he doesn't absolutely love the ''heavy shit''? Who cares? I also enjoy anything off of Minutes To Midnight, A Thousand Suns or LIVING THINGS way more than the old angsty nu-metal shit on Hybrid Theory and Meteora. The only song off of those two albums that I still love is Breaking The Habit, and occasionally Crawling. I also love The Hunting Party, but it's a totally different kind of heavy than LP's first two albums, for sure. What I'm saying is, LP has many different faces. Each album is drastically different from the next, except for Meteora coming after Hybrid Theory. Not everyone at the show wants to hear heavy shit. People also enjoy the slower stuff, like myself, actually. We're lucky that LP even play any of their old songs, that they even power through the songs they've played hundreds of times and know like the back of their bloody hand. A lot of artists just ignore their old albums, see: Smashing Pumpkins who refuse to play most of their discography with the exception of a few new albums. LP try to satisfy the old and the new - not many bands can say that.
