The Carnivores Tour is officially under way! Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds To Mars, and AFI are playing yet another show in Florida, this time in Tampa. This will be Linkin Park's 7th time performing in Tampa (previously in 2001, twice in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2011), and the band's first time playing this venue. The venue is primarily a sports venue, known for being the spring training home for the New York Yankees. The venue has an 11,000 capacity (to be exact, it's 11,026, but who's counting?). Another interesting piece of information is that this is the first time the venue is being used as a concert venue in 18 years (the last being in 1996)! Awesome!

The tour got off to a somewhat uneasy start yesterday. The band's set yesterday in West Palm Beach was delayed over 40 minutes, causing them to play a abbreviated setlist, sticking to the new songs, namely 'Rebellion' and 'Final Masquerade', and their biggest singles, such as 'One Step Closer' and 'Burn It Down'. The cause of the hefty delay is unknown, but Chester came out during the encore break to say it was for a good reason he couldn't share. It is also known that Chester had sustained a back injury by the end of the show. Hopefully this won't affect the performances on the tour! However, if he or any of the band members need a rest due to injury or exhaustion, I'm sure we'll all understand.

Regardless of the band's off night, they still packed a punch! Check out this performance of 'Rebellion' from the show!

On another good note, AFI's and Thirty Seconds To Mars' sets went well. AFI played hits such as 'Miss Murder' and 'The Leaving Song Pt. II', while Thirty Seconds To Mars brought back an old school intro (a recording of Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana: O Fortuna') and playing some fan favorites, such as 'This Is War' and 'End Of All Days', as well as some of their biggest singles, like 'The Kill (Bury Me)' and 'Do Or Die'. The crowd reacted extremely positively to all three bands, hopefully the crowds can maintain this excitement!

Assuming all goes right, the band is expected to play a full show tonight. While we can probably expect a set similar to that of the recent Private Production Rehearsal, can we look forward to different sets being rotated between shows, like we've seen on previous tours? It is known that both Mike and Chester have been said to say that the band has created a single, solid set for the tour. However, in a recent LPU Chat, Jim Digby, Linkin Park's production manager has said the band will perform three different setlists this tour. Time will tell who's right! Either way, Linkin Park already has a fairly solid setlist as is, and there's always a chance that they could change things around midtour!

Who's excited for the show? Anyone going? Stop by the Music For Relief booth to say hi to the LPLive Crew if you're heading to the show! Rakim is still nearby playing his own show later in the night, there's still a chance he'll pop on by and rap his verse on the bridge of 'Guilty All The Same', or even do his own thing during LP's set! Whatever happens, the show will be great!

Show Notes:

- On the transition outro of 'Runaway', Mike rapped verse one of 'Wastelands'. Chester continued singing during the bridge, singing "Never say goodbye!" instead of stopping.

- 'Castle Of Glass' (labeled the "Experience Version") was performed as a mashup of the album version with Mike's Recharged remix. Only the intro/first verse came from the album version before it went into the remix portion of the song.

- Joe's solo portion of the show featured parts of 'Wretches And Kings', the 'Victimized' M. Shinoda remix from Recharged, 'Session', 'Buy Myself' (Marilyn Manson Remix), 'Cure For the Itch', and 'Plc.4 Mie Haed' from Reanimation.

- Mike's solo portion of the show featured the first verse of 'Wretches And Kings', a sped up chorus of 'Remember The Name' (by Fort Minor), and verse 1 of 'When They Come For Me'. The instrumental of the medley incorporated part of 'Wretches And Kings', part of the 'Skin To Bone' remix, part of 'Remember The Name', and part of 'In My Remains'.

- On 'Numb', Mike changed a lyric in the 'Numb/Encore' intro from "Brooklyn boys" to "L.A. boys".

- 'Crawling' was performed at a faster tempo than the studio version.
- Mike rapped the first verse of 'With You' over an instrumental of 'Until It's Gone.

- During the bridge of 'Bleed It Out', Rob performed a drum solo before the band sang a refrain from 'The Catalyst'.

Other Notes:

- This was the first concert held at the venue in 18 years. The last time a musical event occurred there was when Sting & Natalie Merchant performed there in 1996.

- Doors were delayed half an hour so 30 Seconds To Mars could do a quick soundcheck.

- The band went over the curfew (11:00PM) to perform the encore. Thanks, guys!

One setlist I believe.

Still worried they might cancel tomorrow. Lots of fans are going to both Florida shows and are concerned. I certainly don't want an abbreviated set.

On one hand I think Chester is just physically hurt but on another hand I think he had something happen that is personal. He looked terrible tonight though.

Digby said they had 3 touring rigs. Not 3 setlists. I can't find evidence of 3 setlists anywhere.

Fuck it we will see how this show goes. I saw the show tonight and was not impressed at all.

I don't think the venue opened in 2007. And it is not the home of the Buccanneers. It is home to the Yankees in Spring Training.

Very underwhelming first show last night. Not impressed with much even though Chester definitely having personal/physical issues during show.

If LP cancels I wonder if they just cancel the entire Carnivores date? I guess 30STM and/or AFI could extend their set time but... Hopefully that won't happen. However, if Chester really needs to recover then cancel. They'll return to Florida 100%

Return to Florida 100%? After they canceled DeLuna 2011 weeks before it was announced as canceled? And never returned?

Well that was somewhat different circumstances. That was a one-off show. This tour has been really well-promoted, I'm sure any cancellation on it would be rescheduled. Pretty sure Floridians would sue if that shit happened again

I hope Chester is okay and that he will be alright tonight. We'll have to wait and see if they cancel any shows. If they do play a full set tonight, I think we can still expect something similar to the rehearsal set, with possible small changes. If those changes won't happen tonight, then definitely at some point during the tour.

We have no idea what happened or what is going on with Chester, so who really knows if they will cancel tonight or the tour. This sucks.

They haven't announced anything yet, so I don't think it will be cancelled. Is the show supposed to start at 9:20 PM, like WPB was supposed to?

Chester's back has been a recurring problem ever since he initially threw it out back in the fall of 2008. He's said a couple times that he often "tweaks" his back while out on tour and goes through a lot of pain. I've heard that Chester probably needs some major surgery to fix the problem, but it's the kind that would keep him out of action for several months, so he doesn't want to do it.

I appreciate Chester's resiliency and reluctance to cancel shows, but I don't want the guy to end up in a fucking wheelchair before he's 50. I think we can all agree that we like Chester better when he can, you know, WALK.

Still not sure if Chester's back was related to the reasoning for the show being delayed, though. It seems like Chester was fine physically at the start of the show (although there was definitely "something" going on), he didn't act like he was in pain until around the time of the encore.

I agree, it's admirable to want to carry on, but there's a limit to catering to paying customers in the short term and making sure he's able to do so in the long term.

Chester should really take a year or so off to just regain his health. I really don't want him to have to be out of the game when he still has so much promise.

Tampa Update: Doors were delayed 30 minutes for a 30STM Soundcheck.

Leto must be soundchecking the other half of the lyrics that he didn't sing last night. Maybe if you go to 2 shows in a row, you'll get to hear him sing everything. :P

No he's deciding what part of the lyrics he shouldn't sing tonight and what part of songs he should say sing it to the sky lol
