  1. A Thousand Suns without interludes is a great album. We lose two political speeches, three refrains of vocals from the album, and one set of crickets and bombs. We didn't lose much at all, now did we? If they had three new full songs, and maybe kept The Requiem, this album would be gold. The interludes fooled me, but they don't anymore. I was like "zomg this is progressive muzik lp is different nowe". Now I am like "why am I so intrested in crickets, and Oppenheimer?". They are wastes of space and time, they simply are nothing. Also, Legend thought Across The Line was better than everything on LPUX. :/
  2. I just listened to the whole album without interludes. The album didn't flow as weird as I thought it would. In fact, besides some of the odd transitions I really liked it without the interludes. My thought was, interludes are cool the first few times, but are they really neccessary to have unless you want to give the whole album a spin? I never can see myself walking outside jamming to Oppenheimer speaking over digital noises, or crickets. In fact, those tracks make me want to sleep. I can listen to Jornada Del Muerto though but the other 5 interludes, I can do without. I just took the interludes off my ipod. No losses there. That's the first time I ever took 6 tracks off ipod that probably added up to 6 minutes in length. What about you all?
  3. 10. Wisdom, Justice, And Love 11. Iridescent 12. Numb 13. The Radiance (Live Version) 14. Leave Out All The Rest 15. Fallout 16. The Catalyst 17. Shadow Of The Day Never expected such a soft block of music. The Catalyst isn't a ballad, but damn. This is shocking.
  4. Now this is my favorite Linkin Park album tied with Minutes To Midnight, so don't look at me as trolling or bashing. These are things I just missed in A Thousand Suns. - Live strings. Listen to "Opening". Fucking beautiful introduction to an album. Even listen to "Leave Out All The Rest" or "Breaking The Habit". Strings work well in a song, and they build this huge sonic landscape within a track. So much energy, emotion, and power can come from strings in a song. Sadly, there was none in this album. - That one instrumental track that is on every album. They always had one instrumental track on an album, and they way they have been working synths on ATS, they could've made me shit my pants with a 2 minute instrumental. - Rob Bourdon. The electonic drum overdose on this album takes away from the quality of the music. Most of Burning In The Skies sounds like it has a looped club beat from Garageband. Wretches And Kings sounds like Mike made a drum beat in 5 minutes, and looped it. The Catalyst opening drums are so boring it's not even funny, although I like the second set of electro drums. These are three things I just miss from their previous albums, that never showed up this time around. What about you all?
  5. For me, several reasons. Foreword was placed at the top of Meteora, meaning you get it over with. Plus, it blends well in Don't Stay. Empty Spaces was the JUST THE FOURTH TRACK on the album, and already THE THIRD INTERLUDE. It seems like it took over three minutes just to hear a full song, and you had to get back to the interludes. The transition from BITS is smooth, but WTCFM ruins all of the "build-up". No matter what you say, it is useless. Serves no purpose at all. "oh but liek d00d you can hear it underneath wtcfm". Exactly. We don't need two copies, making it even more useless.
  6. I don't like when LP's lyrics look like they came out of someone's chemistry notebook. Looking for a place we can call home, looking for a way not to be alone - Fear (LOATR Demo) Remember you're loved, and you always will be, this melody will bring you right back home - The Messenger
  7. Many people don't like The Messenger. The funny thing is, it's my favorite Linkin Park song to date, and i'm not a big fan of ballads. This track is very uplifting and emotional. There isn't monotone singing, tracks drowning in effects/plugins, and crazy synth solos. It's just basic and to the point. Whenever you are down, and having trouble moving into the real world, don't lose hope. There is always someone there to love you. Always something there to keep you going. And how is this a weird ending? The Catalyst reminds me of a fight scene. Why would a movie/album end with the fight? You need the aftermath. You need the final chapter of the story. This track brings peace to "story" of A Thousand Suns.
  8. What is with the 18 track albums? Haha it seems unrealistic. Here is my re-do 01. Pale (only 3:01-5:01 as the intro to the album) 02. Blackbirds 03. Given Up 04. Bleed It Out 05. Behind Your Lies 06. Leave Out All The Rest 07. What I've Done 08. Hands Held High 09. No More Sorrow 10. What We Don't Know 11. Shadow Of The Day 12. In Pieces 13. The Little Things Give You Away This looks pretty realistic. I love this set-up now that I give it two looks. It opens up very beautifully and sets an epic tone to the album. You then go into a soft track which opens you to a new style of LP, yet it still has rap in it to keep you intrested. Then you have some heavy tracks, before you get a group of softer ones. The album picks up in power again, only to slowly fade out to the epicness of TLTGYA. This set up takes away the boring "Valentine's Day" and "In Between" and added a few heavier tracks, and tracks with rapping. This album now looks like it is the perfect mix of new and old, giving fans more to enjoy, and more to look forward to.
  9. What if this was a demo title for Empty Spaces? That could still work haha. Empty Spaces - shows the atmospheric build up, progressive characteristics, and emotion of their latest work.
  10. This is my favorite one besides my own.
  11. Phoenix. I would say Mike, because without him this band wouldn't be anywhere, plus I love him as an artist, but Phoenix knows what he is doing. He always finds ways to make the band think twice about what they want to do. He also opened up two of the in-the-makings. He wanted to continue making progressive music, and keep things intresting, while other members wanted to shit out songs (The Catalyst). Look how much better it turned out, from the demo we heard on the DVD. The whole "lift me up let me go" segment makes this song unique. Take that out, you have a normal song that steadily builds.
  12. Fear. Mike sounds amazing in this track. The verse is really nice, the rap part would be sick, and the chorus was beautiful. The bridge, eh, it was okay but it was fresh. I would love to hear an extended/finished version of this. Mike sounded great on this.
  13. I love their latest two albums. I voted for Minutes To Midnight because it was the biggest game changer yet.
  14. There is a weird violin/synth that randomly comes in during the beat of this track. Can anybody identify what it may be?
  15. Wretches And Kings is easily a single. Sounds very similar to their old style.
  16. The problem is, I don't think the band really has a heavy side. You can consider some of the work on Minutes to Midnight, but they always incoporated screaming into tracks with rap in them, making the track itself balanced with different styles.
  17. INTERLUDES EXCLUDED. THAT'S CHEATING. My least favorite Linkin Park song is 'Hit The Floor'. It is so boring. It's supposed to be the heavy hitter on the album, but my CD player almost hit the floor back in 2003 when I first heard this garbage. The electronics are weak, and ugh the vocals are so horrible. Another song that comes close is 'Across The Line'. It sounds like an indie-band with a heavy vocal approach. The bridge almost made me piss myself of laughter. The song broke into a heavy screaming section. It was more inappropriate than having "Foreword" on Meteora. Such an awful, stale track. The last track I am going to go with is 'Numb'. It sounds like a polished up Pushing Me Away. It's good at first listen, but it remains ignored on my ipod these days.
  18. In The End. I chose this song for several reasons. Sonically, because it shows their perfect balance of electronica, rock, and hip-hop. It uses glitched vocals at some points which sheds light on their remix projects. I also chose it lyrically, because in the first three albums (mainly the first two), the lyrics were based off of everyday human struggles.
  19. Haha. Some people had no clue. Some people knew it was coming.
  20. 25. Bleed It Out ('Burning In The Skies' over bridge) I don't even want to listen. Looking at that is like looking at: 25. In Between (Given Up over the bridge)
  21. I like that most people are picking real songs like us, and others. Why do people pick interludes? We all know Empty Spaces or The Radiance would lose. Burning In The Skies. Such a beautiful song, but boring execution.
  22. Not to be rude, because I love A Thousand Suns, but do you think the other eight full tracks are original or unlike anything else? "Burning In The Skies" can be compared to an 80's mellow dance pop/new wave song, "When They Come For Me" sounds like something off of the Discovery Channel, "Waiting For The End" sounds like 311, The Beatles, and an underground reggae artist blended, "Blackout" sounds like an 80's dance track with a dissonant backdrop, turns into Reanimation, and turns into an indie-electro track. "Wretches and Kings" sounds like a mash-up between NIN and Public Enemy, "Iridescent" sounds like Marchin...I could go on. The argument of certain tracks on this album being unoriginal should be invalid. They all sound inspired by other artists or genres. That's why nothing is consistent on this album. Which isn't a bad thing, but still.
  23. Across The Line again. I know I won't get it knocked off now. But it doesn't deserve room to breathe. It needs to have some panic.
