  1. I love MTM but I've always felt that it was a "best of" of tracks composed during that period rather than a full cohesive record. I mean, it's not a coincidence that LOATR is placed just after Given Up. Instead of MTM I would name it "The Houdini Sessions: 2005-2007"

I also get the feeling that Welcome being included on this is Mike's way of saying "that's a wrap" on Fort Minor, since that's the only other fully commercially released bit of music besides the album itself (discounting We Major and the Militia tracks). I don't know, maybe that's reading too much into it, or conversely, it's kind of been obvious for a long time that Mike's Fort Minor era is over and his solo work is only going to be under his own name like it has been since 2018

I don't know, a random vinyl release as a wrap would be like saying that the digital MTM 15th anniversary edition it's a proper celebration of the album. I rather wait until 2025 with a deluxe edition of TRT, you put all the songs of the record, the We Major and Militia tracks, Welcome, a DVD with some performances and call it a day. 2CDs, a DVD and everyone's happy.

  3. Like leftshoe18 said before, if that's what MS with friends means, I'm on board with this. We're never going to see some songs live ever again like BTH or Crawling since they were too close to Chester. But it would be such a waste that Mike by himself and a tiny band could only play a handful of LP tracks live. I'm pretty sure that he's gonna have plenty of musicians ready to play wherever he goes.

X5 isn't a real label, they only do digital distribution and it looks like they basically go to labels who have artists with potential for good digital sales and go "hey why don't you do this?" They probably have a working relationship with Warner and pointed at LP and Mike and gave some suggestions for streaming releases. The EP is literally just marketing because Mike is going back to making solo music, it's not indicative of anything else.

Yeah, they've done stuff like a best of compilation of Fear Factory, which basically is a random playlist. I suppose they give to the original label some of the streaming royalties and in exchange the label doesn't have the headache of curating new playlists/digital records. But in 99'9% of cases not even the band members are aware of this kind of releases

Sorry for being the goof in this situation, but what's a RSD? 🤔

Record Store Day. It's a special celebration created to support the traditional record stores. That's why many musicians release something special that can only be bought during that day on those kind of shops

  6. To be honest this movement, for me, wasn't off the cards. We've spoke here about how "relatively" cheap the box sets are for all they contain. I don't know the benefit margin for these boxsets, but I don't thing it would be that big. Enough to justify the production of it, I suppose. So I guess that's why, if you really want everything on vinyl (which seems the most desirable format nowadays), you REALLY have to pay for it. Which means buying the regular box set, the vinyl only edition, and now this. For me, that's the REAL price for having everything.

Overpriced? Maybe, but let's face it, manufacturing vinyls is way more expensive than CDs, so Warner has to scrap money everywhere to make profit. There's a lot of LP fans around the world, but hardcore fans like the ones who dwell in this forum? Perhaps 20% of the entire fanbase.

At last, I don't thing the band itself has anything to do with this release. They'll probably have the standard contract: Band retains the right to the songs, but Warner owns the master recordings. They'll receive royalties for this product, but its the label who has the last word when it comes to release something.

PS: I'm a CD guy, so my only "concern" is to have someday the Nottingham and the full LIT shows on that shiny little format.

That was much more along the lines of what I was expecting based on the imagery he's been providing us. Something along the lines of that and like Death Grips or Ghostemane style beats. Trying not to judge the song before I hear the whole thing but so far, it's probably another in a long line of things that just haven't been to my taste. Good for him for doing what he wants though, it's not all gonna land for everyone.

I would be gladly surprised if Mike did a song in the style of those artist. Again, too soon to say anything

Mike did an interview in Australia today and he said the future of Linkin Park is not in the cards right now but he wants to keep celebrating anniversaries and other things with the fans and that he still is in touch with the other guys in the band. But he said the new hair and new logo is a new era for Mike Shinoda music and he is excited. He also mentioned the whole Collision Course process and talked about it so I hope this means we will get Collision Course 20 next year.

    Is there a link anywhere?

  9. Why did the Projekt Revolution ended? The tour was immensely popular for the band, and specially the 04 and 07 were among the best yours the band has ever done. Was it because of money? Did the band got tired of having to organize that entire tour...?

I know is quite old, and probably some of you back then already shared this interview, but I just remembered it and I had to give my thoughts.

Since LP and Slayer are among my top bands, it's kinda curious see how that connection only exist in my head, how one of my favorite artist has never heard in its entirety one of my favorite albums ever.

It's funny to read some Mike's remarks, like how for him is strange to hear Angel of Death without being a Public Enemy sampler, and how he praises Slayer for being able to keep up intensity during the whole record, something that he doesn't do, he needs dynamics (which makes sense seeing the LP setlists composition, with that calmed middle part) or how's amazed by Slayer's lyrical obsession with death.

Whether you're a Slayer fan or not, it's a funny little interview

totally agree. I think Faint was the hardest one to cut because of how much they still jammed on it. LITE is actually one of my all-time favorite songs they do live, but more the version they did back in the early 2010s. The OML tour version skipped that dope Holding Company intro, the 1st chorus, and the 2nd verse so it was almost like a tease

I'm still thinking that LP themselves aren't the biggest fans of Living Things though

I’m genuinely not even mad at this response. The ones i cut are genuinely some of faves too. Maybe i went too hard on trying to make it “realistic” in terms of it being a tour for the OML album with time shared with 3 other long acts, and in trying to keep it to just 3 tracks each from the 1st 3 albums, and 2 or less each from the others. Ain’t nothing “realistic” about My December anyway. Phoenix probably sold his cello for some golf clubs like 20 years ago 😭

Nah, was just joking but I would have put some of the hardest songs at the end. I'm not a big fan of OML, although I get the selection of songs and makes sense, for me takes out the best points of that tour (which I loved, btw)

So i was actually supposed to go to the original 2017 Bowl show for my birthday and i’ve been thinking a lot about what my dream set would have been for it. I really love the 3 Pro-Shots available of all the OML Europe Tour and what made it onto the OML Live album because they’re so complete and balanced in terms of new songs and hits from the catalogue, so i used the Belgium and England (extended) setlists as bases.

From there i just wanted to add one thing new based on new stuff they hadn’t yet done, old stuff i’ve always wanted to see, and ways to best involve the other acts (which looked very likely to have been Snoop Dogg, Machine Gun Kelly, and One Ok Rock). Finally, i then had to do the hard part of cutting it down to the 21-24 song range because with that many acts, they probably would not have been able to do more than that.

I ended up cutting Lost in the Echo, Battle Symphony, From the Inside, Breaking the Habit, Faint, AND Papercut from the extended England setlist (which already had 27 songs!), and it all felt extremely sacrilegious, but i was still able to include 7 from OML (which seemed to be the magic number for their Europe setlists), 3 from HT, 3 from Meteora, 3 from MTM, 2 from ATS, 2 from LT, 1 from THP, and 2 non-album tracks. The stuff that i added is in bold:

    1. Roads Untraveled (with "Fallout") / Talking to Myself
    2. Burn it Down
    3. The Catalyst (Shortened; No Third Chorus/Breakdown)
    4. Wastelands (w/ 'War' Outro Sample)
    5. One Step Closer (2017 Intro; Ext. Outro)
    6. Castle of Glass (Experience Version; 2017 Ending w/ 'Petrified' v1)
    7. Good Goodbye (Ext. Sing-a-long Intro; Live Version)
    8. Step Up/Nobody's Listening/It's Goin' Down (w/ Snoop Dogg; Hip-Hop Medley; w/ ‘Gin & Juice’ Mashup)
    9. Sorry For Now
    10. New Divide
    11. Invisible (Ext. Intro)
    12. Waiting for the End ('Remember The Name' Intro; Wall of Noise Outro)
    13. My December (Acoustic Version #3 w/ Phoenix playing cello)
    14. One More Light (Ext. Intro)
    15. Crawling (Piano Version; Shortened; No First Chorus or Outro)
    16. Leave Out All the Rest (2017 Version)
    17. Somewhere I Belong (w/ Taka from One Ok Rock)
    18. What I’ve Done (2017 Intro; Ext. Guitar Solo Bridge)
    19. In The End (Pause Version)
    20. Sharp Edges (Stripped Down; Brad, Chester, & Rob; Ext. Intro)
    21. Numb ('Numb/Encore' Intro/Outro)
    22. Heavy (Ext. Intro)
    23. Bleed it Out (w/ Machine Gun Kelly; Direct Intro; Ext. Bridge w/ ‘What I Do’; Ext. Ending)

The Hip Hop Medley not only gives us the Holy Grail of the Gin & Juice/It’s Goin Down mashup, but also brings back a touch more turntablism, which was one small thing i wanted more of. I’m sure i would have loved whatever they would have come up with but we doing our dream setlists here and this is the best i got!

Dude! What's wrong with a 27 song setlist? Plus you even cut my favorites from the setlist. You have a new enemy 🤣
