  1. There's a lot on the new album (Fast in My Car, Grow Up, Still Into You) that reminds me a lot of No Doubt, admittedly more in the vocals than the music itself.

Nonetheless, I don't really think Paramore are doing anything groundbreaking in the grand scheme of things. They write some good tunes, yes, but they're not the sound of the future.

Never liked Paramore too much after their first album. Don't know why really.. I hear Aaron Gillespie is playing drums with them on tour now though, which is cool. (off-topic interjection, don't mind me)

  2. I was one year old when STP released their debut, and personally I'm not into them. I like Interstate Love Song a lot, but that's pretty much it. I never disliked them but I never liked them either. They were just a band I knew existed. lol. The thing with Chester is awesome but it's more because I'm more happy for him, then I am excited to hear the new music. I'll listen because it's Chester, but no, personally I'm not "excited" about it. Kinda like DBS. I listened and supported Chester, but that wasn't really my taste either.

I've posted some pics from Wednesday's show in Bethlehem to Flickr if anybody's interested: STP in Bethlehem, PA

    AMAZING quality!

"LP just hasn't been the same since that rapper guy quit!"

I've heard that so many times... but you don't know musical ignorance until someone you know says "who is Linkin Park?" Just saying..it's happened.

  3. One more important point, I saw you and a few more people "blaming" Mike for taking LP to electrinic direction, when we all know Chester is ten times more electronic music fan than Mike.

Ok well I might be wrong but I feel like I'm included there, so let me set the record straight. I love all of LP's albums. There is no album that I feel they started to go downhill, or that I don't listen to, or anything like that. Also, I feel like while Mike isn't the "grand leader" of LP, I do know he is the most present member on EVERY album even if it's not vocally. Contrary to what Geki said, Brad even said himself in the making of Meteora that Mike is the only one involved in every part of every song beginning to end because "Mike is like the glue" of Linkin Park.

Now about the electronic stuff. I like ALTNC, and I listen to SOME EDM music (not LP related), and I don't hate it. If any music sounds good I will listen to it. The way I feel is that I'm just not a fan of LP going down that road. The way I said it came across wrong because it seemed like I was just assuming "well...that's it. LP will become an EDM 6-piece now". Truthfully though, even if their whole new album DID sound like ALTNC (that genre) I would be disappointed, but I would still love it, even if it had to grow on me. I can't see myself ever saying "I'm done with LP." and meaning it. Whatever they make WILL sound good. LP won't put their name on something that sucks. It's just I would think (at least at first) this is some damn good music...I miss the way LP used to sound though. And before you say it, I'm NOT one of "those" fans, who refuse to grow with LP, I have and always will accept their stylistic changes and their right to explore new territory.

Last thing, when you say "blaming Mike" it seems like you're saying that it was a complete negative. I like Mike. Mike is my favorite musician in the world, not just Linkin Park. He inspired me to get into music, the dude changed my life. So no, I'm not "blaming" Mike for anything.

Mike is to me as Chester is to Geki lol!

  4. Again, these three are not just singles, they're also mega-hits. People who never listened to even one of the LP album, can recite the lyrics word by word.

But let's get in to your question a lil' bit. Where are ATS singles? The band played ⅓ of Iridescent, ½ of WFTE, and The Catalyst from time to time. The same thing gonna happen to "most" of LT singles probably. They dropped Crawling and I think this song is number 4 of the number of people who knows it, after the three you mentioned.

The ATS singles for some reason like you said are barely present, which sucks because it seems almost like the band doesn't like that album anymore or something. Anyway my point, which I guess I failed to make, was that LP seems to have the list of songs that they play live that they don't like to deviate from too much, and I'm wondering is that because they genuinely enjoy playing those songs or because (like you said) some of them are mega-hits that they feel they can't drop no matter how long they play it. I mean ITE was dropped for one show in 13 years or something crazy like that.

Idk, I feel like I'm not saying this right. I just wish they would have more variation in their sets, at least regularly rotate the non-singles. Maybe liberate some songs from that Waiting to be Liberated thread. Something like that. Do I sound like a bratty fan right now?

  5. I think this "we have to" it's because COG is a NEW single, not just a single. This "we have to" is because people come to see that song because they listen to it on the radio/TV and maybe don't know the rest of the album.

I understand, but do you think if say...Chester met with the band and said he wants to drop either Numb, ITE, or WID in one of the setlists for the next tour, do you think the rest of the band would actually give that some serious consideration? Or do you think Mike or one of the guys would say "dude we can't just not play that."

I'm not saying that would ever happen. This is purely an example.

  6. If STEVE HISMELF has so little to do during the live performance of ALTNC that he can spend 80% of the song running/jumping/dancing around the stage, how the hell do they expect a performance with the full band to work?

The rest of the band will know how Joe feels during songs like Given Up. lol just kidding :P

  7. Oh, I love the 'on a valentine's day' part, such a great song. Much better than the insanely overly hugely electronic shit LP is doing nowadays.

I agree, I love that song. My favorite part is towards the end when he's singing "On a Valentine's day" with the "I used to be my own protection.." part in the background.

No, they're just afraid to play non-singles, or songs that are a bit harder to pull off. Incredibly boring. Basically, LP would rather choose In The End or Numb, every single show, rather than try a older song or a non-single even ONCE.

Unfortunately I agree. Every time I think about why they play almost all singles now I remember the LPTV with Brad pointing at the setlist (specifically at COG) and telling Mike "Well that's the single so we HAVE to play that one". That actually really aggravated me. Obviously I'm not in a position to tell LP what they should play, and I like COG, but I disagree with that logic. For a band who now claims to do "whatever they want" it's like....really? You do whatever you want but you HAVE to play the singles? If they drop Numb for a tour, sure there would be casual fans saying "aww they didn't play the song I came to hear!" but so what? It's like they would rather appeal to the casual audience then the hardcore fans. The only reason I could see a band doing that is because the casual fans have the numbers, which translate to ticket sales. I'm not trying to insult them, it just disappointing to me as a fan that they always play it safe, when I KNOW if they started over from scratch with their setlists and didn't once say "well we HAVE to play this one and that one", and just played what they WANT to play without considering how many casual OR hardcore fans/members of management/WHOEVER would be let down, they could make an amazing show...

  8. I highly doubt Chester would get a solo song during the STP set. STP will be performing older material as well as their new stuff, and Chester wrote the new material with them, so that technically is partially "his" music. No way in hell they do an LP song, lol

I agree, and I wouldn't want them to, honestly. Imagine STP playing One Step Closer or something.... It just wouldn't be right. Lol

  9. 5370 days exactly.

    LOL no imagining required

What songs would you like to see on this list played live next tour?

In contrast, what songs would you NOT like to see brought back?

Do you think the band will ever bring anything near the top of the list back?

I would love to see them all, but if I had to choose a few: High Voltage (amazing live song), And One, Figure .09, It's Goin' Down, P5hng, and Don't Stay.

I'm glad In Between, Messenger, No More Sorrow (feels like I'm the only one who doesn't like it), Wretches (love the song but it never sounded great live to me..) and SOTD are all gone (medley needs to go too).

I doubt they will bring anything back. They had a few special occasions where dusting off an oldie would have been appropriate and they just... didn't. It's possible they may drop the Ballad Medley and play one or two of those as full songs again, but beyond that I wouldn't get my hopes up.

  10. Ok, so I only have a 8GB iPhone. I have a LOT of music on my phone, my GB is almost all used up from all the music I have on it. However, I have tons of LP stuff that I don't listen to on my phone. I also have tons of other artists and bands that I'd rather not delete off of it. The question here is, what do you guys (people who use iTunes + iPhone/iPod) put on for LP? I was going to do the main 5 albums and the other official releases, but I ended up putting on tons of demos, singles, shows, etc. I feel like some kind of n00b or something when I have hardly any LP on my phone besides their main stuff. What do you guys do to manage it?

    I have a 16GB iPhone.

Under the Linkin Park artist name, I have 139 songs. I have the 5 main albums, Reanimation, Collision Course, Iridescent (Transformers edit), the HT instrumentals, the LT acapella and instrumentals, instrumentals from the songs that came out on Rock Band. and a couple other songs like We Made It, Not Alone, the 3 versions of New Divide, and a few from the iTunes fest EP. I had RTR, LiT, and Moscow but I deleted them when I was trying to free up memory on my phone :(

Certain things though, like now if I wanted to hear Step Up for example, I just use youtube from my phone.
