  1. Well Mike has some great verses

Don't forget about W&K (original and remix) his Recharged verses were also really good.

The STB verse is one of the best verses he's ever done in my opinion.

Take off the rose-colored glasses for 5 seconds, people. It's not hard.

Ha! Maybe that's one of the songs they were talking about that inspired them as teenagers. :P

  2. I got the t-shirt at the meet and greet in NYC a few months ago so I could meet Chester. I do like the design a lot, but it was really expensive. I'm sure the clothes he is releasing will look badass, but between $109-$1,950 is way out of my price range.

As I was reading the article I was thinking "I bet this shit is super expensive". lol I would have liked to buy something but yeah that's pretty steep..

  3. Not all the rappers reads from paper, Lil' Wayne is a good example for one who doesn't. I'm not even sure if he writes his verses on paper or just made them up.

(DEMO)'s question is a little exaggerated, but it comes from somewhere.

Yeah but I would match that verse from Rakim against Lil Wayne's whole discography. I hate that dude. That's my personal opinion though.

Like someone else said he may have done revisions, or just finished writing. Or maybe he just had the paper for backup I mean why is it a big deal that he didn't want to possibly forget a line? It's not like that takes away from a rapper's credibility. He wasn't freestyling. Drake has been known to blatantly read from his phone on camera while rapping and call it a "freestyle", and he's arguably one of the biggest "rap superstars" out today.

  4. Actually drums are of punjab (a region in India) folk music influenced , have nothing to do with Africa !!

This has been a popular misconception since ATS came out.

I have been listening to this kind of folk music drums ever since i was a kid . :)

Oh ok well I stand corrected! That's interesting :)

Well the reason of this thread is that I want you to help me to create a top 10 of the most diverse LP songs, I want to make a video with those songs on it to letsome people know what the band is capable of.

The 10 most diverse... hmmm... Here's my list:

    1. My December

    2. Lying From You

    3. Given Up

    4. When They Come For Me

    5. Robot Boy

    6. The Messenger

    7. UNTIL IT BREAKS

    8. Breaking the Habit

    9. With You

    10. No More Sorrow

I'm not really good at labeling genres... I try not to do that to be honest. I just tried to pick 10 songs that give a decent representation of the different ends of the musical spectrum LP can go.

  5. I only got GarageBand in the last 8 months... I did know about its existence in the past, just to clarify.

I do find it funny when artists use such stock samples, though obviously Believe Me does it very well. Wasn't that Soulja Boy song from a few years ago like, entirely stock samples?

From what I remember hearing, he used FL's steel drum sound

  6. Who is this Shinoda bloke? The band has a singer - they don't need him.

They told him to quit rapping, just play the keys.

Lol in all seriousness though, Howard Jones. I mean hey they keep saying it's a loud rock record... That dude is a force of nature. Clean vocals or screaming, a guest spot for Howard Jones I would be happy about.

  7. I heard there was this singer named Chester Bennington from Dead By Sunrise and Stone Temple Pilots, I would like to hear him as a guest on every song. I also heard of this MC/instrumentalist from Fort Minor as well named Mike Shinoda, I'd also like to hear him on every song.

Ok now you're just going too far. Please keep these realistic, ok? LOL

  8. Sung range: G♯2-G5 Total range: C2-C♯7 This website is a pretty good source for finding out ranges for different singers.

Thanks man, just had a look around. Still, not quite sure the difference between sung range, and total range. At first I thought total range maybe meant spoken, but nobody speaks over 5 octaves lol.

  9. Mike didn't do any actual singing vocals on Hybrid Theory or Meteora, they just credited him in the booklets the same way they credited the other 4 guys for backing vocals (despite none of them actually recording them).

I feel like I'm possibly a little out of my depth trying to correct you on an LP fact, but I'm like 97% sure Mike did in fact sing on the final chorus of Pushing Me Away. His background is basically inaudible in the final, mastered version of the song. They are there though.

    Vocals.MikeBacking-L.wav

    Vocals.MikeBacking-R.wav

    Vocals.MikeRap-L.wav

    Vocals.MikeRap-R.wav

The "rap" files are his rap vocals from the pre-chorus and bridge, and the "backing" files are only him singing in almost a falsetto voice under Chester's vocals in the last chorus.

  10. I'm hoping for a GATS demo w/ Mike rapping the bridge instead of Rakim. I'm like 90% sure it exists.

If that exists, it's gonna be Mike rapping a different verse. I'm gonna put myself out there and say I'm positive Mike didn't write Rakim's verse. Either way I would be curious to hear it.

  11. i like The Hunting Party as a album name. Sounds like an assertive, aggressive, etc

If you think about it, it makes sense with the whole "Carnivorous" theme Mike has been going on about for a while now. He considers LP to be carnivorous rock, and carnivores hunt. Idk, just a thought.

It's really not that long of a wait, honestly.

I agree. This time I'm going to ignore any and all leaks until the release. GATS is enough to hold me over for 3 months.

  12. Reanimation was about 50/50. VERY little of Collision Course was re-recorded. The first LP verses of Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You and Jigga What/Faint, the LP vocals in Big Pimpin'/Papercut and Izzo/In the End, and Mike taking the second verse on 99 Problems...I think that was it. A lot of the footage of them recording vocals on the Collision Course DVD was just staged for the sake of filming - Chester definitely didn't re-record any vocals on One Step Closer as shown on the DVD, and I don't think ANY of Jay-Z's vocals were redone.

None of Jay-Z's vocals? I always thought his second verse in Jigga What/Faint was redone at least. I seem to remember Mike in the DVD saying something about how they were rerecording some vocals to fit more with the vibes of the beats they were rapping on, rather than just adjusting the speed of their original vocal tracks. I guess Mike cared about that more than Jay-Z.

  13. He is overrated, especially here on LPL. Plus everyone voted for Mike in your favorite member thread so I felt like going against the current a bit.

I don't think Mike is overrated. Then again there are people who would say that Chester is overrated and I'm sure you would disagree with that.

    My vote goes to Joe.

  14. My least favorite member is definitely Joe.. I feel that he doesn't contributes a lot in the creative process of every album lol What's funny about him is that the ''Joe tracks'' CFTI & Session are actually more work from Mike.

I remember when Meteora came out, my friend told me Session was "the DJ's song". Then I did a little research and it's mostly Mike.. by the way my "honest" vote is Mike. lol

  15. So the "no links to copyrighted material" rule is now "no links to places where there incidentally happen to be links to copyrighted material that were posted by other people?" Well guess what? Here's a link where you can find links to just about every piece of copyrighted material that's ever been pirated on the Internet: http://www.google.com OH NOES BETTER DELETE THAT LINK TOO

I agree. If the youtube videos did not have a link in the description, it would have been allowed? I mean.. even if there are no download links it's still extremely easy to rip audio from youtube. Unless he had literally posted the links, or said "Check this out guys: download links in the description", then... I don't see how that's a violation of the rule.

  16. A surprising omission is the Joe Hahn remix, found in the "Making of ALTNC" LPTV video.

Would have been awesome, but I thought it was semi-established that it wasn't an actual "remix", and was just the slightly altered version of ALTNC that plays in the background of that video. Either way, this EP seems ok I guess. I'll most likely get one or two of these tracks.
