  1. I don't get why people would be pissed off about ANY collab. Especially if it's non-album. Literally...Chester could say tomorrow that he did a duet with Justin Bieber and I would probably hate it but I wouldn't go out of my way to bash it. I would just say "wow, this sucks" and not listen to it again. If it's non-album, I just chalk it up to the guys wanting to explore all areas of music without including it on studio albums. It would be different if LP announced their new album and said they were doing EDM collabs with Aoki on it. Just like "We Made It". LP isn't going to do a hip-hop song featuring Busta Rhymes on a studio album. So therefore it's like...if you hate it, it's easy to avoid. If you love it, it's out there. That's kinda how this is to me. I'm actually glad they're doing this, and taking this approach TO doing it.

  2. Honestly (at the risk of sounding weird!), when I first joined LPL, I wound up visiting the list of Astat's posts, and I legitimately learned a lot from him about LP and music in general just by reading his posts. I admire the amount of knowledge you have and the way that you explain what you know. Much respect.

  3. I was just thinking (I'm probably completely wrong) but I remember Mike saying that Catalyst is hard on both him and Chester vocally. I wonder if the fact that they're playing higher energy sets (overall) then during most of the ATS cycle has anything to do with with Catalyst's absence lately. I know they played it well into the LT era, I'm just thinking maybe that factored into the decision to leave it out?

  4. Amazing song. This track and We Made It are both great tracks. I love everything LP does mostly, so I trust them to always make awesome music for my ears. ^_^

I agree. I didn't realize We Made It was so hated lol. Can't wait to hear the studio version of this! It's another example of LP trying something new. Plus even if you don't like the song, it's a non album track.

  5. I believe management has a say, due to one of the Australian LPTVs where Mike and Brad swapped the ballad medley for OSC and asked management if it was fine. That might not be the reason, but I doubt management doesn't get any say, just like I doubt the band doesnt get a say.

I didn't see that... but I was just thinking. Then there was the comment by Joe about wanting to play W&K, but saying he doesn't control those things. I get that he meant he is only one opinion, but still. It just makes me wonder if maybe sometimes when we say things as a community like "same old sets" and "LP never does anything special", maybe they try. Maybe they wanted to play the FULL Reading My Eyes at SSMF, or something else, and management vetoed it. I don't know I was just thinking about that.

  6. I haven't, that's why I was still slightly disappointed with it.

Both of you are right....and I asked this once before and I don't think anyone really gave their opinion. Do you think the 6 members of LP alone sit down and decide what to play? Is it solely the bands decision or does management have a say in what songs are played as well? I mean if Mike for example said "hey guys, wanna drop LGM and resurrect Figure .09?" and the other 5 said yes. Is it like...well that's that and they're playing it?

  7. Check Aoki's Twitter, he's bot a HUGE surprise....

If it's a collab with LP....I just hope it's good and hopefully Mike raps. That's literally all I ask. Seems like this isn't an album track and will just be a standalone release.

EDIT: Just read his tweet. Seems more like this will be Aoki featuring LP, not the other way around.

  8. Hurry up LP album, I need my FM album.

Nice!!! Yeah dude I miss FM... speaking of collabs, hopefully he chooses to do some collaborations next album, and I don't mean have members of SOB on half the tracks. I get that he was trying to help get them exposure in the mainstream, but there are a lot of established artists that have come out after TRT I would like to hear on a track with Mike. We'll see..

  9. I'm not a fan of the ATS songs live, so I like how they dropped The Catalyst and now only play Waiting For The End. The set flows well. I think the LIVING THINGS sets are solid, and especially the 2013 sets. The SSMF set was good.

Agreed. Waiting for the End is one of my favorite songs from ATS, and The Catalyst is my least favorite. So personally I'm happy about that. My favorite song from ATS is Wretches and Kings, but not in a live setting. from the performances I've seen (I might be crazy) the guitar samples always sounded slightly off time and it really bugged me. I think the SSMF set was their strongest in a while.

  10. The Dedeicated verses weren't actually a freestyle, they're from a song they released since. I think the freestyles he's actually referring to are the "Haven't even begun to hit you yet" verse which hasn't been released on anything yet and the second time when Mike actually tried to go off the top of his head (and failed). He had 3 turns technically.

  11. If they will play it live at all.

Some hip-hip artist will be great.

I remember Mike being asked if there was an MC he would like to collaborate with and he mentioned Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky by name. That would be something. I think he probably meant a solo collab though, not with LP. Then again, something like We Made It would be great though. Personally I like both of those artists better than Busta Rhymes...just my opinion though.
