LP - 04.07.2011 - London, ENG, Roundhouse
Rob_Wilson replied to SpikeMinoda's topic in Show Roll Call
If anyone missed LPU auction/isn't in LPU there is a new auction starting on Thursday that lasts until Monday - the link is here: http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/promo/rq6173 Not sure on how many pairs there are or what have you but I'm sure it will say on there when the auction goes live. -
It's nice to know that they just want input and we're not completely taking over their next album. Also I wonder if they didn't put the setlist photo up due to it being abbreviated 'cause of Foo Fighters?

Yeah it's ridiculous how late they let people know - glad I've bought tickets via LPU instead gotta say! -
This was guaranteed to happen haha Apple wouldn't let someone else sell their show that they also release ah well least I'm definitely going!
-
Fair dos - should be good for you and you seem to have been to practically every show I've been to lol mental!

I really don't mind what they write about if it's good stuff however this quote from Rubin could be interpreted as though they are revisiting older song ideas: 'Rubin says the group has "been in the studio writing" for a follow-up to 2010's "A Thousand Suns," which Rubin also produced. "Typically we'll have a once-a-week meeting to go listen to the songs that they're coming up with and talk about them. For so early in the project, they are much further along than they have been on the last two albums we did. On ('A Thousand Suns') there were still a lot of irons in the fire. We knew, 'OK, we can't do this forever. Let's leave this batch and we'll come back and address it when we start up again.' To me that says unfinished ideas :/

Anyone going to this - sounds like so far it's just me and Strandty would be cool to have a few more people there -
Yep it only went up yesterday - there were 15 pairs of tickets so I'm assuming one or two more people on here will pop up but I put £25 in expecting to be outbid and now I realise I could have got them £10 cheaper overall - ah well goes to a good cause did you go vip or just normal? Apparently there isn't a meet and greet which I only discovered after I'd bidded but I really wasn't interested in spending £120 just to meet them for 5 mins when I don't have the money kicking around to splash on it.

They said they'd had about 2 months on it so far then and they're a lot further on than ATS or MTM was at this stage as it sounds like they have lots of leftover material from ATS - will be interesting to see what they do with these. Obviously they say they want to evolve but this could turn into a second sort of double album like HT and Meteora. Not necessarily a bad thing long as they don't have another song like Robot Boy lol! And going by what they say I reckon next June at a push they may have it out. Though knowing LP because they're ahead of themselves they'll overthink it even more than usual :/
-
Have only watched it once, but I saw them in Manchester which was 2 days before and Birmingham which was 3 days after and on neither DSP does Chester sound as good as he does on here (or at least I don't think). However, remember that the DVD will have been mixed differently from how they mix DSPs. Maybe there's been slight altering but not that much as some songs sound pretty solid and the same as the DSPs. Anyone else think the same?
-
Cool that they've done this though I wish you could write your own comments than having to select stock answers on a drop down :/ I now look like an elitist prick that only likes HT and Meteora lol though I did point out the most recent show I went to was probably the best I've seen of them. 3 faves were PMA, ND and APFMH. At least there's 2 chances that a new song will be played in future haha
-
Maybe so - I don't listen to enough DSPs to know for sure but obviously MSG is a world-famous arena, though maybe one of the shows in australia could have been done as well maybe where they debuted Blackout and BITS?
-
I have to say I think it should have been from an arena show to showcase the new stage - as cool as puerto de alcala was I think an arena show gives the proper experience of their show especially the whole intro of the individual boards on the diagonal back screen turning round and that.

19.06.2011 - Oberursel, Germany

Slightly off-topic but why is Derek (LPA) allowing Joe to completely copy this site - it's actually painful to see how bad he copies Mark's pre-show posts and then gets them up earlier and earlier and now adds videos. LPA is a great site and there's no harm in them publicising shows and providing setlists - that's cool. But having a new tour section and basically ripping this site off is kind of getting on my nerves and I'm not even in the hierarchy of this site so god knows what Mark thinks :/ Apologies for swaying to the side a little but I thought it was a bit lame on the winter tour but it just seems to get closer and closer to LPL they may as well be merged and that's not fair to Derek or Mark 'cause a shit ton of work has been put into both sites but it's starting to grate on me... -
Right, I searched for the newswire post but couldn't find it so started a new topic Basically I got it this week as it is now released but nowhere seems to be publicising it at all does anyone else have it yet? There was a lot of discussion over whether this would be the official live DVD for the album or not when it was first announced and having now watched the DVD (which is really good but would be better in blu-ray) I can't see that they would release another DVD from this album cycle. This basically has all the tracks on the album minus BITS and Blackout that have been played live and to be fair if they released another live album it would just be the same songs that were on the last two live DVDs so I see it as unlikely that another live release will come from this cycle. A few notes about the DVD - the credits contain the instrumental of RB and have to say I don't know if it's just 'cause I watched it in surround sound but there seems there is a lot more to the track than when the vocals are layered over it - I actually liked it lol. Also a nice addition is that when you stick the DVD in your PC you get mp3s of all the tracks Anyone else have it? Like/dislike it?
-
I really appreciate him actually taking the time to come talk especially about setlists - that's super cool! I can understand where he's coming from, but they dropped papercut in 09 and a lot of people that aren't really hardcore fans that I've spoken to can't believe they don't play SIB. Don't get me wrong it's awesome that they are at least dropping some singles but the main song where his point fails is APFMH - everyone wants that song lol! As for the one old song a set this must be the 4th/5th time if not more that I've seen this brought up now and is an amazing idea even if its just 3 songs for 3 setlists that would be awesome - just something old that isn't a single/POA/LFY! Everyone would go mental for it - not every song has to be a single but when they release 5 per album I suppose that's where it gets tough :/ The only thing that bothers me is plenty other bands do headline sets at festivals and maybe half the set is singles and for LP it's basically the whole set and even though he mentions their own shows they aren't really any different! Oh snd they played RME in Asia and Europe festivals :/

I'll be able to add anything he misses currently sat in my tent cause it's pissing it down haha at the very least LP need to take an encore break going straight is even more lame than the current setlist :/ -

Have to say I'm a tad worried to how LP will be received after Disturbed then Bullet - I hope it goes well but I'm skeptical :/ they'd help themselves if they'd play a song or two extra from HT and Meteora that hasn't been played in a while and would be nice to see a new setlist and not the same ones from US tour. -
What a reasonable A Thousand Suns Tour setlist should be
Rob_Wilson replied to awesomekittyrawr's topic in Live Talk
To be honest you slated the current set then proceeded to design one that's got very little different from what they were playing :/ -
Haha no not LPU7 the songs would be in order in which they were played roughly not all over the shop and it would hopefully include rarer songs along with favourites not just run of the mill every night songs. I know how dull that would be!!
-
No I'm pretty sure someone said that ATS+ wasn't the official DVD for this album which is good because that show was immensely lame and didn't even have a full house of LP fans :/ they should definitely do a CD from all over the tour - maybe even a double CD if they decide to throw a bit of rotation in the set for once in about 3 years and then film every show and throw out the best one to accompany the live CD - though that should probably end up with a DVD of the two nights in sydney or something as they seemed to be back to their rotating ways
-
Ah good stuff cheers I thought it was but having never shown any incentive to really kick ass in a song I did wonder if it might have been joe instead. I really wish he could drop a real face melting solo in the next album so he gets a little more credit as a guitarist
-
I haven't listened to any DSPs from this year though I did download a few from the tour up to christmas including the Manchester show I attended - the question will more than likely end up being answered by astat but for any other guitar enthusiasts feel free to jump in Basically at the Manchester show and the Brisbane (Boondall) show during the second verse of Given up I think Brad is doing some insane tapping solo - may be wrong I'm no expert at guitar which is why I'm asking whether it is two tap doodles before the pick slide or is it something joe has programmed in setup 'cause I noticed it's not at all shows and in particular the brazil show it was something completely different - if anyone can give a helping hand that'd be great 'cause it sounds sick
-
I'm not whining as such - as I said in the intro it's not a topic to bitch about the lpu it's to discuss what's wrong and what may be done to improve it from its current dormant self. The summit in london fell over 2 days in which I had an exam and an essay due in. They also announced it extremely late so that planning it was a bit awkward in so far as travel arrangements, but I was lucky enough to get a meet and greet a few days before though that was from my lpu9 membership. The only thing I will say is the lack of consistency with the m&gs in manchester there were probably 35-40+ people, in australia there were max of about 10. Now obviously two sides to this argument - they don't visit australia as much so why are so few people let into the m&g, but in the same vein why in a country that they visit so much do they rush fans through to see as many people as possible. Don't get me wrong that is one of the days of my life that I will never forget, but the amount of times I've thought if I'd just had an extra 2 minutes I might not have frozen in front of one or two members of the band. In germany it seemed more like a q and a which was great and then when I got in there it couldn't have been further from it :/ but as I said it's a day I'll never forget. Basically lack of consistency in general from the lpu on all fronts and hopefully this big thing they're going to announce (that's been coming for ages!) is good :/
