Mike could even just kind of sing those parts, like a more aggressive kind of singing, like he has done many times in the past. It would be fine.

Like he did on the Rebellion bridge. He sounded a bit like a singing Serj from SOAD and I would accept that. We have to give him respect for trying to sing (or whatever you wanna call it) the Papercut or Rebellion bridge. And let's be, we should be greatful for anything they present at future shows (of course, only if they do continue) and not be mad if certain parts/songs don't sound the same as they did before.

  2. Mike did great, the whole band did great. Hats off to them.

Before the show I was fairly certain the band would continue in some form, but after the show I do not have that feeling. I feel like the comments Mike made during the show were not that positive. It was as if he wanted to continue, but not all band member were ready... Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the vibe I got. And lets be honest, if this was a last show, it was a hell of good one.

Still I hope they continue. Mike proved worthy in my eyes. And in the end, it should matter.

    (sorry for the pun :P)

We probably have to give them more time. In the Karreng magazine where Mike talked about Chester and the band, he pointed out that some of the band members couldn't listen to their own songs with Chester on it (So almost every single one) for weeks. This show was harder than we think. I believe that they tried to hide their emotions as much as possible, even though we saw Phoenix, Brad and Mike being very emotional during certain songs. Especially during songs like In The End.

  3. Nicely written! Wasn't there in person, but I really enjoyed the show watching the livestream. I think this night not only helped the band move on, it helped the fans move on as well.

It was going to, I believe Rob said it in the intro clip, be really healing for them and us fans to see them perform and them seeing us being happy to see them on stage again after Chester's passing.

They realized, but certainly know, that they need us as much as we need them to perform.

  4. True... but at the same time it did feel like he was there. It was such a weird feeling.

A thing I've noticed is that the band tried out a bunch of different things on stage... They did songs with guests, let the fans sing, showed Chester on a screen with his voice in the background, Mike sang a few songs... And everything was working out. So I guess they still could do concerts with all the old songs if they mix it up a bit like this. I think they got a great feedback from the fans at the venue and at home and I hope it motivates them to keep going.

I think they needed this concert as much as we did.

That's actually a good point. They know that they need us as much as we need them to continue performing. And if they mix their future concerts up like you mentioned, nobody will be mad. I don't think that even one dude would go there after a concert and would complain about certain things.

And as I mentioned earlier, Mike tried a bit of screamsinging here and there. He tried Rebellion, Papercut and some of the In The End Chorus and it wasn't bad. And the first 4 songs until Numb really showed us how a future LP could look like.

    • Saddest moment of the show? It was not OML or the new song. It was not Numb or In The End.

This one I agree. Especially In The End was tough. Seeing the 3, Brad, Phoenix and Mike, being in the front standing together and the crowd singing the chorus. This for me was the moment where Chester's missing was huge.

Something about this moment was so emotional. Joe and Rob at their typical position of course, but you have the other 3 standing together looking at each other and you could almost read their minds, what's going through their heads.

Really emotional and by their facial expression you can see how hard it was for them.

  6. True. All of them looked shocked, painful and quiet abstracted from the show, because of the difficulty to play this night, As I wrote earlier, especially in famous songs with great parts from Chester, the 3 (Brad, Mike and Phoenix --- Joe and Rob stay where they are) feel lost in the front.

Chester had such a stage presence, which the other 3 in the front cannot equalize.

But I agree, they didn't look comfortable yesterday.

  7.

After last night, I can almost guarantee that if the band continues, it will be as a 5 piece, with Mike being the sole vocalist, obviously. Which I am OK with if they decide to carry on in the future. It's never going to be the same as when Chester was alive, they aren't going to do crazy world tours every year all year long, and we can't expect that. We as fans need to take it slow and give them as much time and support as they need.

I already thought about how they'll approach a new tour. I guess that they would start with small Shows (O2 Academy Brixton) across the US.

  8. After the show yesterday, I wanted to revive this thread to discuss further ideas, now that we have an idea how a 5 piece LP could look like.

Personally I don't know. It felt like they needed the show yesterday, but you could also see that they are still in pain. Especially in certain parts (ITE, Papercut etc.) everybody looks stunned, shockend and full of pain.

I guess that if we want them to continue, we have to continue showin massiv support.

  9. The live stream was a little messy with the vocal mixing all night so I'm not really surprised something like that happened. At least it got cleared up.

Amazing show, truly amazing. What a wonderful experience it must have been for everyone in attendance.

It got cleared up but general music listeners are still salty and hate Oli even more. Of course, people are salty in beforehand and have prejudices about him and now that the Stream failed - people are even more salty about him.

It's sad cause they don't inform themselves about what happend and spread this throughout the social media and brings even more bad light above Oli.

  10.

My favourite part was probably the first couple of songs, because I was so excited and uplifted by basically seeing the future of LP unfold in front of my eyes. Mike CAN be the sole frontman, and I hope that's the direction they take.

Totally agree. Especially when the camera was in the position of the crowd and looked up to the stage and you saw the 5 playing. I was like "If they contiune as 5 then we have the future right in front of us - this is how it will look like when they play shows"

Of course there were notes he missed but seriously, this dude has been through so much shit that he goes there and plays for 3 hours is truly special.

  11. what makes you think that they will debut NRL?

As of right now we don't know whether they will play only with guest or have a section where LP plays alone to show us fans how they might go forward in the future. And NRL is one song, which is 1. sung by Mike and 2. There aren't any screams in it so Mike can handle it pretty well

I don't think that they will play it on Friday, but I do believe that they will play it in future shows (We know that they will continue)

  12. Good news but I never cared much about Grammys, I mean Kanye West won 21 of them while Muse won like 2... they are a joke

It'd be a great way to honor Chester and the band. At the same time, I don't care for the Grammys anyway

I can only agree. Grammys are almost like the MTV Music Awards or AMA's. As much as I'd love LP to get nominated and win something, it's most likey that they don't get any nomination in these catagories, because they are "old" or whatever

  13. They probably will not get any nominations out of that but if they do get nominated then for Song of The Year. Even though it does not fit to the rest of the mainstream bullshit(My Opinion), it really sends a message and OML has such a depth, probably no other song in this list has.

Best Record and Album is way too much in my opinion.

  14. This. I'll admit, Oli was pretty meh at singing when they first started touring for That's The Spirit, and even the melodic stuff for Sempiternal, but he's gotten way better since then.

If Oli can perform something like Doomed or Drown

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGc9W-_C9u0

then he can definitely handle something from most of LP's discography.

He can handle it with backing tracks.. I saw them last year and it was full of it. I mean LP used it on TTM and maybe Heavy but thats it.
  15. I think Chester was a much much busier person than we would think, even as fans on a fansite. He recorded all of that material, was doing N.A. Tour press, had met with Black Eyed Peas in the studio (which we didn't even know about)... who knows what else he was up to. Then running his entire family, on the school board for his local school that he and Robert DeLeo's kids went to... damn Chester was really busy when he wasn't on tour. It's almost like tour was the vacation even though that's his "work."

Doing all this stuff prevented him from suicide for a long time. As he said, he has to do something or be around someone else otherwise he is not the guys he normally is.
