It's that time of the season again... it's tour time! We're back and ready to go for the next leg of Linkin Park's From Zero World Tour! The band are heading to Europe for the first proper European Leg of the tour, after having played in arenas and stadiums in a few countries back in 2024. This will be the longest leg of the tour yet, and the second-longest in the slate overall for the tour with a sizable fifteen shows throughout the continent in the next 30 days, and it all kicks off with the band's triumphant return to the Nova Rock festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria on Thursday, June 12, 2025

The Nova Rock festival has always been a staple of Linkin Park European Festival tours, and it's truly been quite some time since the band has last graced its stage. The band last played the festival in 2017 on its first "warm-up" night (the Wednesday headline slot) in the middle of the One More Light European Tour. The iconic setlist from this time featured the thrilling 'Roads Untraveled' and 'Fallout' mashup intro, diving straight into 'Talking To Myself.' Other One More Light tracks like 'Good Goodbye' and 'Invisible' got taken for another run not long off of their live debuts, while treats like 'Somewhere I Belong' and a verse of 'A Place For My Head' during the newly remixed 'Castle Of GlassExperience Version made sure hardcore fans weren't left out of the mix. 'Wastelands' and 'Lost In The Echo' also made their Nova Rock debuts, with the band having not played the festival during The Hunting Party World Tour and their previous appearance being at the start of the Living Things World Tour in 2012, which featured only 'Burn It Down' and 'Lies Greed Misery' from the then-new record. This show was no easy feat to get going, however, as severe weather plagued the festival causing delays, and ultimately causing Linkin Park to cut five songs from the setlist. Despite it all, the band still played a great show to fans who stuck through rain, wind, and hail with a number of treats, including an unforgettable opening sequence with 'A Place For My Head' into 'Given Up,' also finding time to include 'From The Inside' and 'Points Of Authority' in the set for the old-school fans. The LPU Meet and Greet also braved the weather, with videos of the band meeting fans during the aforementioned hailstorm circulating on the internet - even in the LPTV episode.

An electrifying rendition of 'A Place For My Head' opened the band's performance at Nova Rock 2012, an opening statement that fans still talk about to this day.

Despite the stormy fate of Nova Rock 2012, festival attendees luckily a got a big dose of Linkin Park just a year before - the band headlined Nova Rock 2011 to kick off the second A Thousand Suns European Tour in June 2011. Opening again with a grand opening sequence, 'The Requiem,' 'The Radiance,' and 'Papercut' brought the show to an explosive start. A Thousand Suns tracks like 'Waiting For The End,' 'The Catalyst,' and 'When They Come For Me' filled the summer Austrian air with a sense of electronic urgency (though 'Jornada del Muerto' was dropped for an unknown reason before 'Waiting For The End'), while songs like 'Lying From You' and a 'One Step Closer' closer showed that Linkin Park still had the rock in their veins.

'One Step Closer' opened their setlist (an incredible shock at the time) at their inaugural performance at the festival in 2007, ending their first proper tour leg back after a break at the festival's third year. The very first Minutes To Midnight European Tour ended with a bang, including new tracks like 'No More Sorrow' and 'The Little Things Give You Away' to show a taste of the album's diversity. 'Leave Out All The Rest' and the piano version of 'Pushing Me Away' also got brought out, before 'What I've Done' and 'Faint' with its then-new extended outro brought a fiery finish to the show. While the weather wasn't notable the day of this show, Mother Nature had plans for Linkin Park this week that ultimately affected the band's performance to a degree. A huge storm and tornado ended up damaging the band's gear the night before at the Heineken Jammin' festival in Venezia, Italy which ultimately ended up being cancelled before Linkin Park could go onstage. The band borrowed gear from the festival and the festival headliners Pearl Jam, who played after them. The band opened for them on a number of nights on the European Tour prior to this, so it looks like the two bands had become fast (and fortunate) friends on the road!

A very old-school recording of Linkin Park performing 'Papercut'  and 'Points Of Authority' (partial) at Nova Rock 2007 on June 16, 2007, borrowing gear from headliners Pearl Jam due to a storm the night before damaging their gear.

With all the history recounted, it's tinfoil hat time. There are a number of reasons we'll be watching this tour very closely, with the most obvious that with the last leg in the United States, the band kept surprising us to unbelievable degrees on nearly every night. With a different setlist every night and all of the remaining From Zero base-album tracks (AND some bonus tracks from the Deluxe Edition) getting their live debuts from the beginning to the end of the tour: 'Up From The Bottom' (and the Linkin Park debut of 'Where'd You Go') at the tour's onset in Austin, Texas, 'Cut The Bridge' in Tulsa, Oklahoma, my baby 'Stained' in Baltimore, Maryland (the band knew I had to be there for her debut), 'IGYEIH' in Raleigh, North Carolina, and finally (and perhaps most shockingly) 'Let You Fade' just a day after its premiere during the encore of the band's headlining set at Welcome To Rockville in Florida. Each show also came with a unique verse from Mike's discography (Post Traumatic and Fort Minor included) during his solo medley during a new extended portion of it. Some of these verses included the demo verse of 'Lift Off' from Post Traumatic (the first Post Traumatic song to ever feature in any way in a Linkin Park set) and Mike's verse from the 'Skin To Bone' remix from Recharged. The band also brought out a very unique performance with a few new remixes/intros to songs at their brief-but-epic set at the Champions League Kick-Off Show in Munich, Germany at the end of May. It may seem like Linkin Park has shown their entire deck of cards already, but it's when they have you thinking that that they bring out the biggest surprises.

What could be in store for Europe? A live debut of 'Unshatter' would complete the From Zero portion of Linkin Park's discography, with it already being the first album to have all its songs performed live since A Thousand Suns (and the first album since Minutes To Midnight to have all its songs performed entirely, as well as during its own album cycle). It's not out of the question whatsoever that the song could be played live - it definitely has the energy and punch to be a great song in the setlist. If it does get a live debut, From Zero will be the first record since Hybrid Theory to have both it and its b-sides performed live! On the other side of the coin, perhaps we'll see more old songs get dusted off and revived in 2025. We've already stacked up quite a list of rotation songs, the rarest of which is surprisingly 'Lost In The Echo,' which was only played in 2024 four times and not once in 2025. The other older tracks being rotated around are 'Lying From You,' 'Points Of Authority,' 'A Place For My Head,' 'From The Inside,' 'Given Up,' and 'Keys To The Kingdom.' With a number of From Zero tracks being rotated around in this mix too every night, the band already has quite a good list of tracks ready to go already to keep things fresh from night-to-night. Though our favorite secret-spiller Colin has gone live a couple more times and has mentioned a couple more tracks he'd like to play live... his list now includes 'With You,' 'Runaway,' and 'QWERTY' amongst others, all of which would certainly set the community on fire if they were brought back into the set. Emily has also mentioned before that she'd like to perform 'Blackout' and 'Lies Greed Misery,' amongst others. The addition of 'Where'd You Go' was her request according to Mike onstage before they played it for the first time, so they definitely seem open to exploring new songs between legs at rehearsals. Things have been pretty tight-lipped and leading up to rehearsals for this tour, though they likely were mostly focussed on the Champions League performance. But who knows what else may get added to the set, even if its perhaps just the football remix intro to 'Numb.'

Linkin Park shocked both the crowd AND fans online with the live debut of 'Let You Fade' during their encore of their headlining set at Daytona Beach, Florida's Welcome To Rockville festival on May 17, 2025.

One more thing to note is that this will be the first tour of the leg where the band will be repeating markets they have played in already on this tour. The earlier U.S. leg this year only hit cities in parts of the country the band hadn't performed at last year (Austin included - Texas is huge). Starting with this leg and going forward with the rest of the year, the band will be visiting cities for a second time on the tour, perhaps giving more reason to start changing up the order and structure of the setlist. These repeat cities are also some of the biggest shows they've had... ever, really, including the likes of London's Wembley StadiumBerlin's Olympiastadion, and Paris' Stade de France. This European Tour is definitively Linkin Park's biggest ever, and we know the band loves delivering to their fans. We're almost a year into the tour and the band have stuck with generally the same setlist structure with the intros and interludes the whole time - we'd be sad to see them go (they truly are some of the coolest moments the band has had live), but we'd love to see what the band could cook up now. Perhaps not even the addition of new or old songs, but even just moving things around the setlist would add a whole new freshness and excitement to the upcoming tour legs. Something like the Inception Intro right into 'The Emptiness Machine' like at the launch show would be super cool, or even a restructuring of the acts would be interesting to see. All we can do is wait and find out - and we definitely are on the edge of our seats to see what happens next!

Who's heading to the show? Lots of great bands on the lineup to see before Linkin Park ultimately takes the stage at 11:30pm. They have a 90-minute set time, slated to end around 1:00am, so expect a slightly shorter set than what we'll see at the headlining shows. Rise Against and Iggy Pop perform before the band on the MainStage - will we see a Tim McIlrath guest appearance for the first time since 2015 when he joined the band for a few shows for 'Bleed It Out?' Other acts I'd like to highlight on the lineup are Poppy and Jinjer, and the lineup is rounded out with the likes of Jerry CantrellNothing MoreApocalypticaAWOLNATIONMotionless In White, and more. It'll be a night of massive proportions, no matter which way you slice it.

Tim McIIrath from Rise Against joining Linkin Park to perform 'Bleed It Out' at the Live 105 Not So Silent Night in Oakland, California on December 12, 2014.

While our earlier history lesson showed that the band, Nova Rock, and Mother Nature have a bit of a complicated relationship, Weatherman Rogue Soul is happy to report they've all sorted out their differences and that nothing but clear skies are a beautiful day are ahead for Nickelsdorf ahead of Linkin Park's performance, with temperatures ranging from 24°C in the day to 12°C at night (that's right, I can do Celsius too). The band continues their European Tour with another festival on Saturday with Czechia's Rock For People festival before their first massive headlining shows kick off. Following these festivals, the band bursts into their biggest market on the planet - Germany - next week with two headlining shows: the first at Hannover's Heinz-von-Heiden-Arena and the second to a sold-out Olympiastadion in Berlin. The band then heads to Switzerland for another headlining show before resuming their festival circuit at Hellfest in Clisson, France.

Things are about to get very busy for Linkin Park and for us at LPLive, so buckle your seatbelts and get ready for a ride of a summer! Alright let's get this thing going. Really looking forward to the tour - we've covered a million shows over the years...20 years this year with updating actual setlists after shows. Wow.

Nova Rock is as "LP' as it gets for a European Tour... it's right there with Rock am Ring in terms of consistency, etc for the band. There were rumors this year that the promoter paid an extra guarantee to the band to *not* play Rock am Ring & Rock im Park in 2025 so Nova Rock got an exclusive... have heard this several times since last fall. But the RaR/RiP promoter just says the band elected to play stadiums in Germany over festivals. It's good to see they can do a mixture on the world tour - maybe stadiums one year and just fewer stadiums + festivals the year after like they are doing with From Zero.

Think we don't get any of these set changes until the first headline show in Hannover. LP got 90 minutes at Welcome to Rockville and *played over* by a full 10 minutes, finishing a few minutes after midnight. The set end time was 11:50pm. That's a 21 song set. They get 90 minutes again at Nova Rock - I could see them going down a song or something slightly shorter for this. I am not sure how strict the European festivals are on the set end times/curfews, but just a note that they indeed went over significantly at Rockville.

The festival set is really good and the band should be coming in on quite a high for this tour. They hit a grand slam at Sonic Temple, really shocking the casual U.S. rock fans if you saw social media posts around the show/after the show. Rockville was also a good show. And then they had Munich's UEFA performance... they should really be ready for these stadiums and huge European festivals. These are the largest crowds they'll have played to with the new lineup. Rockville was the largest U.S. show they've ever played as a headliner (aka, like literally of any show but Live 8 in 2005).

It will be so cool to see the stadiums in Berlin, Paris, London, etc with LP in them. This is something we would have never guessed would be happening even just 1 year ago. Wild.

Also happy about the live guide updates we made - @Rasputin 93 is a legend. The tour will be quite fun to cover - let's do it.

For Austria and Czechia I'll take the same set they just did at Sonic Temple and Rockville - keep Lying From You there, rotate around Casualty/APFMH/Given Up in that spot, and keep Let You Fade since it's new. That's a cool song at a festival. But if they want to rotate something else there, that's cool too.

The beginning of a really interesting tour!

Although I’m not expecting major surprises at the festival shows, I’m curious to see what’s new for the stadium concerts.

I’m really looking forward to the shows at Wembley and the Stade de France.

Finally, I believe the chances of there being a livestream for any of these European festivals are pretty low, right?

Please make the newsletter shorter then this.

We need a TL:DR

Newsletter won't be show-by-show but will have highlights, yeah. It's like 3-4 sentences each for 3 topics.

But this is the one spot on the Internet to come to learn every single thing about every show lol. The LPA one is a bit shorter. https://www.lpassociation.com/forum/threads/june-12-2025-nickelsdorf-austria-nova-rock-2025.47233/

Agreed. Did not know the Berlin show was 75,000 either. That is going to be a massive show.

Rock Werchter was streamed in 2024 and 2023. That seems like a lock unless LP says no, which it doesn't make sense why they would say no since they are building the new era of the band. Seems like we can get that one.

2017 wasn't also streamed? I think the days of Warner overprotecting the LP brand are long gone.

We have a month ahead full of shows, how lucky we are.

Yes Werchter 2017 was webcasted. That's a great show, and the setlist is fantastic. Wanted that Heavy intro by Brad to keep evolving over time...

Just saw we have no setlist pic from that show? That seems odd - will check my phone gallery archives from that tour in 2017, I thought we had one for all those shows.

Not surprised at today's set with Rockville going over - they dropped the rotation spot. Let You Fade in there. Wouldn't surprise me if the exact set is used in Czechia. Overall a very solid show and glad they are playing Overflow, but especially Lying From You which needs to be in every show.

Posted (edited)

Looks like Emily forgot her guitar part during Let You Fade but actually I don't know if this really needs to be added to the show notes. Those things can happen since they play live :)

Lying From You sounds badass - especially that further back video. The guitar, specifically. Alex is really improving quickly; you can hear a pretty noticeable difference from the 2024 start of the touring. The band sounds great.

Surprised to see quite a bit of negativity on socials about the show. A lot of people didn't like it - said the band was not energetic enough, didn't engage the crowd much. That's interesting considering the energy is pretty similar to 2017, IMO.

That's a big difference after they won over the U.S. rock crowds recently, especially the grand slam Sonic Temple performance which surprised the casuals a lot.

At what festival you will go?

Anyone able to tell what song Mike is playing over the 'Overflow' intro at around 51:30? Sounds like something he hasn't done yet and am having trouble narrowing it down

Socials + clickbait, name a better duo.

Actually, I can, LP and selling out venues quickly.

People can wait to make comparisons with Chester to gain attention, I wouldnt wanna fall into that BS. Shows have proven to be great and with strong energy, Emily is much looser now than she was at the beginning, and even Alex is in prime shape.

Just the Overflow intro part and a little play added to it.

Agreed about Alex improving big time. Still wonder if the "had to learn all the songs in 3 days" thing he said is accurate - he's said it twice and that would really make a lot of sense for the sound, but regardless he's only getting better as well as the rest of the band. It's natural that there would be an adjustment period with essentially a brand new band on stage. Loving the shows lately.

There are a lot of social media negative comments about Nova Rock. That's odd. They say Emily isn't moving enough on stage. Yeah, she stays on the micstand for pretty much all of SIB and lets the crowd sing much of Crawling, but... almost an odd thing to complain about because she is sounding good.

Noticed she touches her ears on SIB at Nova Rock - wonder if they had the same type of in-ear monitor issues that they had at Welcome to Rockville recently. She doesn't sound overly sick or anything to me watching this show.

I have the feeling that they have quite some problems with their in-ear monitors. From the first show in September they are pretty much constantly touching their ears.
