RogueSoul Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 What was slated to be Linkin Park's first show in the United States next year has just been cancelled. The Sick New World festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 12, 2025 has been officially cancelled by the promoters. No official reason beyond "unforeseen circumstances" was given as to the cancellation, but the nearly $500 ticket prices for a bit-too-packed lineup for a one-day festival may have played a role. Linkin Park's first show of their U.S. leg will now be on April 26, 2025 in Austin, Texas. This gives the band a bit of an extended break, now with over two months off between the Asian Leg and U.S. Leg 1, which will be the longest break the band has pretty much all year. The band still have two more festival appearances planned for the United States (Florida's Welcome To Rockville and Ohio's Sonic Temple) that do not seem to be signaling for any cancellations. The first cancelled date of the From Zero and Emily/Colin era! Perhaps not a great milestone, but it's one we're at nonetheless. Certainly better circumstances than last time we had cancelled dates. No news on whether or not Linkin Park will plan to perform in Nevada or Las Vegas sometime in the next year, but if they do, we'll have the news for ya first. Quote
LeonardoMF93 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Incredible how a festival that grabbed worldwide attention because of its lineup managed to get canceled just weeks after its announcement. But considering the ticket prices, it's no surprise. With the price of a ticket, you could buy a PlayStation 5. 😅 Quote
bloodbath Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 No festival in the world is worth 500$. Not happy about its cancellation but I won't lose my sleep for it Quote

NimaLP Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 $500 is insane! Sad for the fans that were planning to see them. What's up with these Las Vegas festivals? I always see a lot of controversies surrounding them online. First the When We Were Young one (I don't remember what it actually was, but I remember there were a lot of unhappy talks about it online) and now the cancellation of Sick New World. Also if I'm not mistaken, this was gonna be LP's only show in Vegas next year, right? Do you guys think they would add a show to the tour (perhaps for summer) to make up for this one? Quote

Yucker Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Some media said that only 1/3 of the 60K tickets were sold when they decided to pull the plug. The lineup was insane, big names everywhere and that must cost pretty much (rumors says that LP and Metallica would get $5 million each for the show). Quote

Sounds like they spent way too much by booking huge bands, had to raise ticket prices as a result, and then didn't sell nearly enough to make any of it financially viable. Quote

This could be a good thing. They've been going really hard since September, and 2025 will obviously be huge and pretty much non-stop for the band once the tour gets going. The break might be a good chance for them to catch their breath, so to speak, and relax for a while. 18 hours ago, RogueSoul said: The first cancelled date of the From Zero and Emily/Colin era! Are you seriously this disconnected from reality? Just wow. As far as I can tell it was supposed to be a ONE day festival? One day for 500$ is absolute insanity. There is no festival in the whole of Europe that even comes close to this level of pricing for MULTIPLE DAYS (as far as I know). Glad they fell flat on their face with this. I paid around $200 for a 4-day-festival here in Spain, ROck Am Ring/Rock Im park is around $250-300 (w/ camping) for 3 days of shows. 500 for only ONE day is... I don't know what to say. Quote
Soeffingnaive92 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I saw Nothing but thieves, Blink 182, Sum 41 and LP for like 80 € back in 2017, lol. 500$ for a ticket is crazy Quote
Paigeinpark Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 how you have Metallica and Linkin Park - the two biggest metal bands ever and still have bad organization? $500 ticket for a day only festival isnt worth it even if you could watch all the bands live lol Quote

rd1994 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I would be liying if there weren't some REALLY AWESOME bands (other than LP) on that Lineup but yeah...it was pretty much too much at once. Quote
LPLStaff Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 $5 million guarantees to both Metallica and Linkin Park (each) is just insane. Quote
NimaLP Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 How much do big festivals usually pay the headliners? Quote

Back in 2017 I was told that headliners in Europe were around 1-2 million, but it depends very much of the band. Big tops like Metallica can easily go up to 3-4M. Quote
LPLStaff Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Yeah a million or two, but they can definitely be double that. $5m for LP with half the OG band seems pretty wild. Like, of course, LP is great, but holy cow if they are getting that for something then they have genius agents and business people on their team. Wouldn't put LP and Metallica remotely in the same boat for booking costs like Live Nation appears to have done in Las Vegas. Quote
KeysToTheLinkinPark Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I mean they definitely get paid more than in 2017. Not just because LP is back and their comeback is huge as hell but just based on the higher cost bands have for staff etc. We see that in those ticket prices for their headlining tour as well. Their revenue for shows are dumb high as well compared to other shows where we have exact information of. For their first 5 shows they had an average box office revenue of 1.8 million $. Quote
Yucker Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Everything is more expensive than then. Bands I've paid around $30 in 2015-2018, now are around 50-60. LP booked for 5M is crazy, but these days there's a bubble around this and is reasonable... In a certain point. Quote
Quintas Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Since this show is cancelled, is there a possibility for them to go to different countries they didn't include in their tour? Like Portugal, Spain, Australia, etc. Quote
