I used VHS up until 2009, VHS was very useful for recording live TV and more reliable than the DVD recorder I had. Besides that it was a shitty format It was also really compact, which i think makes it pretty convenient. Honestly though all three formats are good in their own way. Cassettes are compact and can be taken on trips easily with a small Walkman. Vinyl has the massive artwork, cool physical feel, and *some* well mastered records I came across sound incredibly good.
