Can LINKIN PARK still make huge singles post-Bennington era?  Not with the unreleased Chester vocal songs but with Shinoda-led LINKIN PARK new singles.

Highly unlikely. To 95% of the people even the ones who dislike them C was LP.

Mike has been trying to have a hit as the main vocalist and has failed every single time. (Waiting For Tomorrow, Aoki collabs, Invisible etc etc)

The last track that i remember that had success was It's Going Down that one was always on MTV.

But nothing it's impossible in my mind the only thing that could work for him is that if he createa tracks that sound like Papercut.

Fans would go crazy for that.

Hmm. Zero THP while putting 2 OML songs on, when there is room left in the tracklisting is a pretty odd move, especially if you are including QWERTY.

Mike's comments before were that he wasn't interested in Greatest Hits, so it will be interesting to hear what the band says in the press about this release.

They should have at least included one THP song. Could definitely understand zero THP and zero OML, but 2 OML and zero THP is odd.

What is the strangest omission for this? Catalyst was #1 globally in many charts, Shadow is huge, Given Up is pretty high on streams, Iridescent is big.

I don't think that the tracklist is about numbers exactly.

I've been around since the release of Crawling I don't really care about the tracklist but if you close your eyes and go back in time you'll remember that every song on this compilation was huge in the moment that was released.

This release is just a big excuse to release Friendly Fire.

Who is going to buy a OML boxset in 2037? Seems unlikely.

Personally, i see no issue with the title nor the album cover. ATS is pretty basic, but it worked. I think the band went with something simplistic because i's recognizable to all generations of LP. It makes sense, plus ''Papercuts'', if that really is the title, seems like the band knew Chester's favorite song was papercut, so maybe it's to honor him for that and if that is the case, that's pretty awesome. Chester freaking loved that song, i think he would have loved the title to.

It was his favorite for sure and its the bands presentation card.

Weird that it isn't the #1 track haha

This !!! It’s a OML song with LT vibes, I instantly thought about IMR/BID/IBG !

I don't know what are you listening haha

Chester's vocals on OML were very quiet, soft , delicate and mostly clean, there's not a single big chorus.

Those 3 songs that you mentioned atleast Chester tried to do a big chorus with aggressive powerful vocals .

Sorry but this sound like Thirty Second to Mars and this is not good thing. I mean, hearing Chester in something new is super cool, but I don't know. Waiting for the whole track, though.

I find hard to complain about something that was recorded in like 2016 or 2017.

That window is closed, this track sounds exactly what I expected a track from those sessions to sound like.

OML is my least favorite album by far so my expectations from any b side front hat album are always low.

At this point anything released or leaked is a blessing.

You know it could be strategic, maybe not intentionally, but for new fans…like they’ll listen to “the greatest hits” and then may want to dive deeper into the catalog and find those other gems like SOTD, The Catalyst, LIO, GATS, Heavy etc etc and then want to dive more

Or listen to the Spotify playlist

    "This is Linkin Park"

I have no clue why they cut healing foot. It's now one of my most favorite LP songs because it's somewhat reminiscent of in the end in the rap verses with how they mixed Mike's voice while his flow is so addictive and catchy, but then Chesters vocal melody and lyrics in the chorus sound so Meteora-esque and massive. That entire song also sounds so heavy while still remaining melodic and fragile to some degree, which is what they wanted to capture back then. Just the rob drum video we had for years was so repayable and stuck with us hardcore fans for so long, so when the full song released, it was like finally discovering a long-lost secret.

The demo is pretty fucking repetitive If someone could shorten the song I could enjoy it.

The chorus is massive and the piano is one of the best melodies ever in LPs catalog

The most likely case is it’s probably literally those 3, which is what I had originally been thinking. Step Up and And One versions that are the farthest along they got would be actually dope to hear.

Carousel, and one and part of me appeared on the very last demo CD from February of 2000, they were part of the very last part of the process.

I guess that they had a real good chance to appear on the album.

  9. 9 minutes ago, AceWav said:

I agree, i mean it's not terrible, but i believe he only got to a point in the mix and didn't finish it. That's what it sounds like because the rest of Meteora sounds amazing. It's like they decided to cut the track mid mix down because they started to really hear the album come together sonically and at this point they needed to cut some tracks.

There's a big gap between Meteora and Lost for sure for M20 they tried to keep every song as close as the original but in sure that Mike and Brad don't really like how Lost 2002 mix sounds.

They praised what Manny did w Lost.

Meteora sounds really good, probably Numb would sound better if Andy does something with it.

I kinda dislike the extremely loud guitars on a pop song.

  10. 6 minutes ago, IWillWalkAway said:

Yeah that’s what i said earlier, we all love the Andy Wallace mix. I mean if they are including Lost, having that version on there would be awesome and get it on streaming and stuff. But idk if that’d seem unnecessary, or interfere with it being exclusive to the CD version of Meteora 20 that’s still available

    All?

Andy's mix suck man, the guitars are insanely loud, the vocals are a little bit drowned, the synths are very low, the bass sounds muddy.

This would be a great LPU CD release one day, since it's a Mike demo without the full band at this point but there is a studio version that exists. Would love to hear it. Just title it "Looking for an Answer (Demo)" and put it out.

"...Plus I played the version for the guys and the guys were like, so uncomfortable. It was not a good vibe. So, yeah, it was just a... it gives us bad vibes."

Mike's version with a lot of electronic sounds really off.

It's one of those songs that need to stay minimal, piano, strings, acoustic guitar and thats it.

Maybe an epic guitar solo with tons of emotion.

They could do something, i need a full version of it.

Was hoping for Demos from 2005 or maybe even the 2008 demo sessions. Or 20 Eyes from the Out Of Ashes takes.

I guess it’s a cool release since people sell the Out Of Ashes vinyl for so much money online it’s ridiculous. Making Chester proud with that price. At least people will be able to get the album on vinyl now that didn’t get the original one in 2009 without having to pay half a grand.

Maybe if this sells well Warner will want to do a Out Of Ashes box set with demos and unreleased tracks, etc. That’s what I’m really hoping for. So much more demos then what was on that Chester Bennington Demo CD that leaked in 2018.

Not a fan of live DBS unfortunately unless we’re talking the 2005 Let Down performance or the 2008 Club Tattoo set. But I’m glad people are happy to be getting this show released. Chester was talking about putting out the show back in 2009 when he was referring to releasing acoustic tracks, he never meant acoustic studio recordings, he was talking about these but LPL didn’t understand at the time. That’s why we got Let Down and Morning After from it already back then. So I’m assuming that’s why it’s getting released here because it was already planned at one time.

We need a DBS boxset to close the circle.

  13. Today we have a huge announcement: OUT OF ASHES is being released in a limited special DELUXE DOUBLE Black Ice vinyl pack!! Specially mastered for vinyl!! OUT 4/20/24!!

    https://recordstoreday.com/

This vinyl will contain the much requested acoustic promotional performance we did in Las Vegas in conjunction with Club Tattoo at Linq Hotel Las Vegas! We had always intended to release these versions as we were shocked that the songs sounded so good acoustically! I remember watching the video footage of the performance with Chester - he turned to me and smiled and said “well, I guess we can book acoustic shows too!! This sounds amazing!!”.

We are super grateful to Talinda for pushing to make this happen as well as our friends @ Warner Bros records + Machine Shop! If it wasn’t for Talinda we would have never had the push we needed to get this material out. I have to tell you: it was wonderful to to have conversations about Dead By Sunrise again, and discuss material and release ideas… really felt good.

    We hope you enjoy it!!!
