  1. I'll preface this by saying i'll always support what they decide to do.

My preferred choice would be that they continue with Mike handling all vocals. Mike and Brad are just to good of a musical powerhouse to hang it up. I'd also love to see the rest of the guys continue to make music with them as well.

I also wouldn't be opposed to them being a mostly studio band with a few special shows every once in a while. I could also see this happening. They're going to want to spend more time with their families. They've said that before this unthinkable tragedy so I would totally support this as well. Maybe continue to experiment with more outside artists and have some cool vocal features. Jeff Gutt being someone that springs to mind immediately.

Any other option besides the above would be a shame. I'd hate for LP to call it quits but at the same time, i'd also understand that decision as well. Chester is irreplaceable. I don't think anyone will argue that.

I'm just rambling now though. It's going to be a while before i'm emotionally ready for new LP if it ever comes. Truth be told, I may never be ready. It's going to be an emotional gut punch hearing LP without Chester.

  2. Damn, this sucks so bad. I was never one for idol worship but i'd be lying if I said Chester wasn't a hero for me. I'd always fantasize about what musical ideas he had floating in his head and no matter how many other bands I've gotten into since listening to LP, I would always would look forward to a new LP album cycle. It became a lifelong tradition for me. I'm actually tearing up a little typing this because I don't know if i'll ever feel this way about a band or a musician ever again. My connection with them was truly one of a kind. They've been with me through all the milestones of my life. I've grown up right along side of them and their music matured right along with me. It's almost as if they held my hand and walked with me along this road we call life.

I'm truly going to miss him.

  3. I just cant believe this is happening. I am shocked and devastated. Chester was THE voice for me. He was my Dylan, Lennon, Cobain. He represented everything about music that I loved. We'll never have another Chester and that hurts. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him and express my gratitude. I'll always hold those memories dear until the day I die. Thank you for everything Chester.

  4. I wonder if this would have hit number 1 had they not enticed ticket purchasers with a "free" copy. Tons of concert goers don't give a shit about new material and purchase tickets based on an artists past or most popular work. It's a pretty slick way of boosting your first week sales.

Well, we'll see if this ends up being the justification the band needs to continue on with this style. At the very least whenever they get criticism about this material they can now always pull the "but it hit number one on the charts!" card. Here's to hoping if they want to go the pop route for the rest of their career that they get a bit more creative. All I know is that if we keep getting more albums like this i'll officially have grown out of their music. Sucks to think about because they've been my favorite band since I started to seriously listen to music. Oh well, people change, tastes change.

  5. After Laughter is fucking awesome it's not groundbreaking but it still sounds original, fresh and it still has the Paramore spirit. If Hayley wanted Paramore could join the edm trend and sell millions of records i highly appreciate that she wanted to do something original. Taylor and Zac killed it too.

Hard times and Fake happy are such good songs.

  6. I'm annoyed that the free copies that came with my tickets counts as an album sale. I'd love to voice my opinion with my wallet but I guess I can't. If it wasn't for those free copies this would be the first LP album that I wouldn't own and that says a lot because I purchased the Recharged vinyl.

Meanwhile, the album I like the least is getting a good chunk of its tracks played live. Where was this attitude for the LT and THP cycles?

  7.

Just finished my third spin. Pretty underwhelming album. I think I've heard enough snaps, claps, and sorry-esque glitch vocals for the rest of the year. This might be one of the bigger annoyances I have with the album, I feel like a lot of the sounds become overused and when you hear them for the third or fourth time on an album, it loses that spark.

I really dig Good Goodbye, Talking to Myself, and to a lesser extent Sorry For Now. The other tracks I really can't see myself coming back to that often and I'm sure once the novelty of being new wears off, they won't be getting any rotation in my playlists at all.

  8. I think Soul covered the ticketmaster portion of this pretty well, so here's my piece on LPU having some level of responsibility.

First, this sucked all around. We were basically scammed into buying cds and LPU, considering it promised presale. While technically I did get in, if you try to log into LPU right now it pops with a disclaimer saying you needed to be part of LPU earlier to get into this presale. So it's fairly obvious that being in LPU implied we get presale before others. It's the only reason I renewed.

As it turned out you didn't need to spend a dime to be in group one to buy tickets. I absolutely feel cheated and manipulated. FYI I have a bunch of copies of OML now.

They didn't explain ticket limits which really screwed up my friends. They didn't explain city limits. They activated all the codes at once. And they removed legit people in line.

Cherry on top for me was being part of the Houston presale, which was through the Toyota Center instead of Ticketmaster. And here's where I'm pissed at LPU. Houston presale is May 16th at 10am. This was never conveyed until multiple fellow Houstonians called the venue. Credit to Toyota Center for responding, but this is something that should have been told up front. This should have been part of the tour announcement to begin with. No way they didn't know about this beforehand. I wasted an hour at work trying to figure out what happened.

So you can say this is all stobelight and ticketmaster, but LPUHQ should have been monitoring this. It's what I paid for. It's infuriating to me that they still have yet to say anything about this. You might contract someone to do a job, but you still have to manage it.

But even before this LPUHQ was fine pushing off FAQ's for fans to LPL, so I guess I'm not surprised.

This whole experience put me off LPU again and I'll wait till it's revamped again, and hope it's run better.

Honestly, unless you want a chance to meet the band or Reeeally want the merch there's not much benefit to being in LPU anymore compared to its early years. I'd say California (more specifically LA) gets the most benefit from a membership. Back in the day when I was too young to go to the events, I'd renew solely to interact with people I met on the forums. Now, with social media, there's no point.

  9. Never signed up for presale. Haven't spent a penny on the album. Didn't share or click on one link the entire campaign. Still got my presale tickets just after 10 am PST. Great job as always Ticketmaster!

  10. It's not bad but it's not amazing either. Like with Battle Symphony, I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to this. It's pretty forgettable to me. I've listened to it twice now and I'm already tired of it. There's nothing that really grabs me or stands out about this song. It's just there.

I hope there's more tracks like Talking to Myself on the album. That's far and away my favorite so far. That guitar melody is infectious.

As far as the live show goes, I'm concerned that too many songs with this pace will kill a lot of the energy.

  11. So they play 6 songs in one set from OML but never did that for THP?

I get the feeling that most of the band werent really as into THP as Mike and Chester were.

If nothing else I feel like theres no way Chester could keep up with more than a few songs off that album in one set. A song like mark the graves would really beat up his voice. Just look at rebellion, he had to tone down the screams a lot when playing that live.

It really is such a shame that Keys to the Kingdom, Mark the Graves, and War weren't played. I fucking love those songs so much.

  12. Seems like I am in the minority but I don't like this setlist at all. Catalyst is not a good opener in my opinion, Wastelands and OSC are position pretty randomly, Good Goodbye sounds like a college cover band (might improve though), Numb and Heavy are not songs you should play in an encore.

I agree with you. I didn't like the flow of this set at all. Sounded like someone hitting shuffle on the LP spotify page and that is what they got. Catalyst isn't a good opener. They need a song that explodes right out of the gate. Talking To Myself has energy to it so that was a good choice but besides that there were too many "mid level" energy songs. Seems like they're prepping the set for more OML style material with the addition of LOATR in full, piano Crawling, COG experience, LITE etc. I'm surprised we even have wastelands thrown in there.

  13. If anything we *might* get Invisible. LP has become very secretive with new material since LT. unlike other bands they don't like playing unreleased material before the album drops it seems.

I'm guessing heavy, good goodbye (only half the song/ 2 mike verses), battle symphony in a medley, possibly invisible, and maybe teases in intros/outros/transitions. I'd love to be wrong though.

Besides that it'll probably be a very by the numbers LP set since this is a festival. THP material would be perfect tonight considering there are some heavy hitter bands on the lineup.

  14. Of all the places in and around LA, why the Hollywood Bowl? Tickets are so overpriced and there's not even a pit. Saw Carnivores there and while the show was good, the venue left a lot to be desired for a rock show. Can they not sellout staples center or even the forum anymore?

  15. Is this going to work the same way as the depeche mode presale? If so, fuck that. I gotta work to go to these shows, I'm not trying to do more work and spam my friends just to get presale. Besides, I heard this system didn't do much to stop scalpers anyway.

Guess I'll just have a friend cop me a ticket if the blink rumors are true. At this point I'm just excited to finally see Blink. Trying to keep my expectations for a radically different lp set as low as possible.
