  1. Mike will participate in a #TodayAtApple event at Apple Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday, June 21st. "Exclusive: Inside the Creative Process with Mike Shinoda Thursday, June 21 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Apple Williamsburg Join us for an intimate look into the creative process and journey of Linkin Park’s founder, Mike Shinoda. He’ll join music journalist Rob Markman in conversation about the loss of his bandmate and his journey to his current solo career. We’ll celebrate the release of his first solo album, Post Traumatic, with a performance and video by Shinoda." Limited spots are available - sign up here. Aaaand this isn't his first show in an Apple Store, or even at an Apple Store in New York. In 2008, Linkin Park performed at Apple SoHo the night before their Madison Square Garden show to a private crowd. This will be a small crowd - sign up ASAP if you'd like to attend.
  2. I dont think anyone said they would lol
  3. Yeah definitely. You know how The Roots jam random stuff when Fallon comes back from commercial? Give them something, have Mike up there with them and drop a verse off Post Traumatic haha
  4. Agreed 100%. Where'd You Go studio version perhaps and either Hold It Together or IOU would be cool. I bet he debuts those live on the world tour at some point.
  5. I also really hope he keeps Kenji in there. Yeah Castle of Glass, I agree, I can add that. The new piano-style version is fantastic. If he sticks with a set like this (Identity + the new songs from Amoeba), it's better than what Fort Minor was performing in 2005/2006 and in 2015. It is also longer. Yeah, I know we miss Cigarettes and High Voltage, but the new Post Traumatic songs are fantastic. He once again is faced with having too many "great live songs" to fit into one set. We will see how the world tour goes.
  6. We wanted to run down a short list of highlights in Mike's current set in case any of you have missed his performances to this point. To recap, in support of Post Traumatic, he has performed at the KROQ Weenie Roast and Identity LA in May, as well as intimate Amoeba Records and KROQ Sound Space performances in June. These are some of the best moments of his show so far in our opinion - see if you agree with these or disagree and have other highlights! 1. Kenji In what many of you could easily argue is Mike's best solo song ever, Kenji was shockingly never performed live in Fort Minor's The Rising Tied era (2005-2006). In 2015, Mike implemented the verses over Castle Of Glass live, but the studio version never saw a real performance... until this year. When Identity LA was announced as a celebration of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we knew the chances for Kenji were high. Mike delivered a exceptional version of the track live. What is shocking is that in recent Post Traumatic interviews, he was hesitant to say that if it would remain in the live show. Here's to hoping he keeps it around, as it is a true highlight of his solo career and is a fantastic live track. The song is mentioned in every single review of The Rising Tied as a highlight of the album and we hope to see it performed again. 2. Running From My Shadow As one of the "heavier" songs on Post Traumatic, Mike decided to add this to close the live show after Remember The Name - a great idea as this one will become a staple for fans. It reminds us of Petrified being a hard-hitting closer on the very first Fort Minor tour in August 2005... with fans coming back saying, "woah... that last song!" Mike also goes into the crowd on this song, which is fun for everyone in attendance. As Remember The Name is significantly shortened live, it's good to have a full song close the live show - RFMS accomplishes that well. 3. About You / Over Again / Papercut Mike flips this mashup up with a nice vocoder intro to About You and after the second verse goes right into Over Again. He appeared to drop a verse of Over Again for the Amoeba performance... probably because the song is a very difficult one to perform live so we don't blame him. But the mashup takes About You and Over Again before going into a crowd-favorite and longtime live monster Papercut. As Mike figures out how to handle Linkin Park songs in a live setting, we give a thumbs up to this one as it combines some of his very best rap verses. The whole mashup reminds us of Chester every step of the way, in a good way. 4. Sorry For Now New circumstances require new solutions. As Linkin Park was unfortunately not able to debut Sorry For Now yet on the One More Light Tour as of July 2017, Mike took matters into his own hands and debuted the song at Identity LA himself. Being one of two songs on One More Light where he sings lead, we thought it was only a matter of time before it snuck into a live set... but Mike went ahead and brought it in immediately. It's a highlight of the album and will continue to sound better and better live. 5. Ghosts Ghosts could have honestly been the first single on Post Traumatic. This one will instantly become a crowd favorite due to its catchy chorus and fun instrumental. Any song that gets Mike out from behind the keyboard to fine-tune his "frontman" skills and show off his voice is great. Some of you have already pointed out his live "singing voice" sounding improved already just from May. Look for it to get even better as the Post Traumatic Tour continues across the world. 6. Roads Untraveled In one of the most shocking moments of the Living Things World Tour (to us), this song, Powerless, and I'll Be Gone never received live debuts on stage. That tour was pretty short and perhaps the band just didn't have the time to get around the world enough to keep adding more songs into the sets. The same thing happened to The Hunting Party but Linkin Park rectified this problem with the One More Light World Tour, rehearsing at least eight songs for immediate setlist inclusion before the touring cycle even began. Roads Untraveled was brought out in an incredible live debut at the Hollywood Bowl in October. Everyone, especially Rob Bourdon, sounded great on the track. It is another Linkin Park song where Mike can easily sing lead on the entire track, like Iridescent, Burning In The Skies, etc. In Mike's solo shows, the guitar part mid-song is removed, but the song clocks in almost the full version and sounds great in a live setting. 7. Castle Of Glass Closing out our list is Castle Of Glass. Mike recently tweaked this song to perform piano on it and the new version has an excellent live sound. He is easily able to tackle the vocals on the full song here. In a shocking move, he didn't elect to go with a remix live as he did in 2015 but that's better for us as we get to see what is essentially a studio version of it after Linkin Park rarely performed the studio version in 2012-2013. What do you think about the list of tracks? Are you excited to see any of these songs in a live setting? Mike's full touring schedule for Post Traumatic can be found here.
  7. On the 19th, Mike will make a very special appearance in New York City... to perform at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Linkin Park has made many TV appearances over the years, and Fort Minor has performed on TV a handful of times. The last performance is of course Conan from 2015, where he debuted 'Welcome' by Fort Minor live. Arguably the most notable thing about The Tonight Show is that the house band is of course.. The Roots! Mike has a great history with these guys and honestly, we might see something cool happen here for fun (not specifically talking about Mike's performance). Many of you know Black Thought for his performance with Mike on The Rising Tied's 'Right Now' with undoubtedly one of the best verses on the album. Three~ years prior, he also dropped a great verse on 'X-Ecutioner Style' on Reanimation. Mike also guested at The Roots Jam Session in January 2010 at the intimate Key Club in Los Angeles. He joined at 2:30am for '75 Bars' and rapped a (then unknown) verse over the track... which turned out to be the demo 'I Have Not Begun' released on LPUX later that year! Due to Mike not being the type of rapper to freestyle on the spot, it is doubtful that they would jam 'Right Now' or anything they have collaborated on before... but you never know what can happen with The Roots! These guys can cover almost any song at any time in any style. Don't believe me? Just watch their segments of 'Wheel of Music' on the show, which is entertaining just to see The Roots cover all of the songs so well. Have Mike drop a verse of literally any Post Traumatic song on an intro segment and The Roots will make it sound like it could win a Grammy. If we were in the betting mood, we'd say Mike will perform 'Crossing A Line' from Post Traumatic since it does not have a television performance yet. Tickets for the show have been sold out for months, but if you want to see him play badly enough... you can wait in line before 9am (advised to start lining up at 5-6am) outside The Rockefeller Center for standby tickets for the filming. Good luck! The show airs at 11:30pm EST on NBC and we will post a video as soon as its online afterward. Mike headlines another intimate show (500 capacity) at The Gramercy Theater on Wednesday for his East Coast Post Traumatic Album Release Show, which we will be attending. See you there! Mike's tour dates for the album can be found here.
  8. I don't see anything wrong with speculating, it's like when we make a thread speculating what the next LP tour would be, etc. "Build the future of LP", etc (all these statements) make it appear they are continuing in some fashion or form, I don't think that's really debatable at this point unless they change their mind. But no one knows how of course.
  9. Joe has announced that he will be performing in Singapore on September 15th at the Formula 1 Grand Prix Night Racing event. Other artists on Saturday include The Killers and Liam Gallagher. In September 2011, Linkin Park closed their A Thousand Suns Asian Tour with a show at the Singapore Formula Grand Prix as well. If you'd like to attend this event, tickets are on sale here. Back in April, Joe performed in Seoul, South Korea so this will be his second appearance of the year. He also guested at Mike's second solo show (Identity LA) in May, joining for Castle Of Glass. Mike recently said he would like to add members to his Post Traumatic Tour after he performs solo for a while, but he didn't want casual fans confusing it with Linkin Park. This could be indicating that at least Phoenix and/or Joe would be in consideration for a spot on the tour.
  10. I like the popup merch booth they did at the Amoeba show with exclusive stuff. I think the hat you mentioned was in it, and an event-exclusive shirt. And stickers or something. If they did something like that on tour, and had like 2 Golden Tickets which were M&Gs, that'd be a cool, unique idea. I don't love Mike's merch besides the sweatshirt but I bet he releases new merch soon.
  11. Oh yeah I agree huge. Not a hiatus or even a break or anything. The way he described it made it sound like he would put out a few songs like Welcome while LP was still rolling 100%. No impact to LP. Chester etc told him to do it. I assume at least 1-2 of these songs are from that. Just like Mike would be totally ok with Chester doing those DBS popup LA warehouse shows last fall. Damn they had so much stuff they were still going to do.
  12. Castle of Glass at KROQ is literally exactly how we'd get it at an LP show. Add the band in and it's good to go. I love that performance. Mike's singing voice just from May to right now has improved. I wonder if he has done extensive practicing between Identity and now. Give the man the full world tour to work up these other LP songs and we are going to be set. I've been very observant of his singing over the years... remember when he'd kind of shy away from the mic on Victimized in 2012? Now he is all over the mic and is embracing the "lead singer" type of role on stage, even in his solo shows. I mean the difference between Identity and now is significant enough to mention for sure. The confidence is growing, look at him on Ghosts. He used to only have this confidence when rapping or behind the keyboard, when he did vocals. Now it's across the stage singing. I'm seeing a transformation happening with Mike and it's great.
  13. Thanks Wesley, great job!
  14. I agree about Fort Minor songs. He admitted last fall that he had already talked to Linkin Park about him releasing more music under the name Fort Minor soon and they gave the "ok" for it. So yeah, that's a great hypothesis about Lift Off. There is no doubt some of the 2017 planned Fort Minor music (whether it was coming out in 2018 or later) was used for this album. Also, MGK might even be wrong because Mike was in the studio with him just after the Hollywood Bowl show and we even posted about that here. Mike's verse is for sure after Hollywood Bowl era, but MGK's could be from the Berlin 2017 meeting yeah. The album is incredible. One thing that must be stated over and over again is how good Mike's production is. Put this album in your car and drive around, I did it for hours yesterday. The beats are massive, the drops are huge, the instrumentals really explode. He is a fantastic producer and the fact he put this together in 8~ months is astounding. I will do a track by track review soon. I am very impressed and I haven't liked an upon upon first listen like this since.... Minutes to Midnight. Mike did a phenomenal job. I'm even shocked how good it is, like... damn.
  15. Same exact set would be great. Sounds fantastic in the Amoeba recording. I like this set a lot.
  16. Wow the new Castle of Glass sounds GREAT! Much better for the solo show. Damn, he plays with so much stuff live... he is so creative when it comes to a set. The LP show is going to be just fine. RFMS closing is badass, it's a heavy ass song. What happens on Over Again? He fucks up the first verse and accidentally raps verse two, then goes into Papercut. How is the instrumental able to just roll right into Papercut? There was another verse (where verse two originally goes) after that.
  17. Some Europeans said the link doesn't work. They usually broadcast it on YouTube as well, so that should work. If not (for some reason), the whole thing will be uploaded afterward by fans for sure.
  18. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/linkin-parks-mike-shinoda-on-life-after-chester-bennington-w521509 "The week after the show, I was listening back and going, 'God, these people were all really great singers and none of them were Chester,'" he says. "He had such a specific tone and range – an incredible range. He could sing almost any style you wanted him to. That led to conversations about what to do next. It became obvious that you can't just hire some schmuck to get up there and sing with us, 'cause they won't be able to hit half the stuff." I really like that he said that.
  19. On the 15th, Mike will perform another intimate show at the KROQ Sound Space in Los Angeles. Attendance is limited to just a select lucky number of fans via either KROQ or the LPU. You probably remember this show from the last time that Linkin Park played it, in June 2014 just before the release of The Hunting Party. They played an eight song set on a stage that seemed much-too-small for them (but they made it work) and Chester was noticeably on point. This will be just two days short of the four year anniversary of that show, which is wild considering that show seemed like it happened very recently. It was definitely fun to see such a large touring band (who even played stadiums on that world tour) cram everything on to such a small stage for that show. On the 14th, Mike surprised everyone by performing fourteen full songs at Amoeba Records, where the standard set for bands is six songs. The show saw the live debuts of Ghosts, Make It Up As I Go, and Running From My Shadow. This show could go that way as well, with a longer set around 12-14 songs being played as well. We will see! We will definitely get a proshot video of this show. The Sound Space has changed their layout several times - it looks like they are waiting to broadcast the set until the "replay" begins at 5:00pm PST. Information on the webcast can be found here. After this show, Mike heads to New York City next week for several events - an in-store signing at Looney Tunes Records out near Wantagh on the 18th, a Fallon performance on the 19th, and the Gramercy Theatre intimate show on the 20th. Check out the full touring schedule for Mike, along with show setlists and more here.
  20. There is not a performance at this, it is just a signing. I'm not sure exactly what you can get signed.
  21. Yeah Im not going to this event. Its too far from NYC. Way out near Wantagh. NYC show we can do an easily meetup for sure. Yeah i think a USA tour in January 2019 or so will happen.
  22. Mike's Asian Tour just got a lot bigger! After a visit to the country earlier in the year (including a video shoot for "About You"), Mike is returning to China for THREE shows this August on his Post Traumatic Asian Tour, performing in Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu. Ever since Linkin Park set off on a Chinese Tour for The Hunting Party Tour in 2015, China has been market. August 12: Beijing, China - Beijing Exhibition Theatre August 14: Shanghai, China - Jing'an Sports Center August 16: Chengdu, China - Chendu Performing Arts Center Watch Mike perform 'Remember The Name' and 'Welcome' at the Linkin Park show in Beijing in 2015! China brings some awesome crowds, and we're sure it'll be the same for the Post Traumatic Tour. Anyone planning on going? We're not sure if there's anything left to be added to the Asian Tour, but his European Tour is slowly expanding, with recently announced shows in Germany, Italy, and Austria coming this week, with more likely on the way. The rest of the world is waiting, too! Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world! Check out the rest of Mike's touring schedule here.
