27.06.2012 - Los Angeles, CA - Jimmy Kimmel Live
hahninator replied to [AndOne]'s topic in Previous Show Discussion
lol seeing this crowd compared to the 2003 crowd at Jimmy Kimmel is hilarious. Please drop BID ASAP from the live sets. Shit sounds terrible. Chester sounds really weak on the verses. The building it ERRRRRPP is just becoming hilarious to watch. Worst live song I have seen from them in quite some time. Holy shit lol how am I in the minority on this? This is so bad guys Shinoda rapping behind the keyboard and trying to be gangster shit? Seriously? -
Full review time. Weakest LP album I've heard in my opinion. Spun 3-5 times and just not a fan - how the band could release such garbage as this is astonishing to me. Where are the jams? Barely anything jams on the CD. Brad's guitar work is pitiful, I hardly hear any real drums, and the electronica is just too overwhelming. Not a fan of the electronica/pop stuff. Really bad music for my tastes. I love the band and can't wait for the tour this year but the new songs just don't do it for me. I knew when I heard BID and LGM that I might be in for a shockingly bad CD so I wasn't surprised when I put it in and only had one song I enjoyed when I listened all the way through. LOST IN THE ECHO, 2/10 So much electronica stuff. Intro sounds like a video game again, like BID. Shinoda is a boss rapper and I haven't ever heard anything he raps that I don't enjoy (except MAYBE Back Home on the Fort Minor CD)... but this sounds bad. Sounds like a really really weak ATS demo. Fans hailing this as a return to HT and all really overhyped the shit out of this track beforehand. Shinoda sounds like a 45 year old guy trying to be 21 again and write that "dope rap" on Hybrid Theory but mix it with the 2012 pop electronica vibe of today's top 40 music scene. Purely garbage and a weak song to start the album off with. Chester's screaming sounds out of place as well. When I hear this song it makes me think of how the band is desperately trying to get back to their old sound and combine it with new sounds...it's just like WTF when you get the end result. Letdown. IN MY REMAINS, 2/10 Chester sounds awful singing here. The "army" part of the song is decent but nothing else does it for me here. Not a fan. Shuddered every time I've heard it from the lack of interest or taste I have in the song. BURN IT DOWN, 4/10 Hell this might be one of the best songs on the album LOL. Criticizing this from day one about being a terrible single and when it's put into the whole context of the album it really shines as one of the best songs. Definitely takes the first 2 songs and destroys them singlehandedly. Maybe this should have been the first song on the album. Still not a fan of this though - building it erp doesn't do it for me but it is a catchy song, a good single from the album and all so I will give it a 4. LIES GREED MISERY, 1/10 Before the CD dropped this was the worst LP song I had heard with maybe the exception of H! Vltg3. Jesus, what is happening with the band. Wretches, WTCFM and Blackout can combine the rock, electronica and whatever else they want and make it all sound fucked up but GREAT. Those songs really rock. LGM is pathetic. Skip it every time. I'LL BE GONE, 6/10 The first enjoyable song, the 5th one on the CD, is this one. This is an alright slower song for the band and Chester sounds normal to me here and sounds good. Not a rock song but it's ok for something slow, not bad. CASTLE OF GLASS, 9/10 First song that I said YES to. Hands down best song on the album right here. The band uses the samples well and to their advantage. Mike sounds good here. Weird transition between Mike and Chester but I love this track. Excellent overall song here and easily the best thing to come from LIVING THINGS. Fantastic. VICTIMIZED, 1/10 What in the fuck? This is what I am talking about - the song tempo changes, the genre changes, the structure changes that all happen so abruptly and weirdly on this CD really take away from it. Upon first listen I thought the sample was really cool. The chorus doesn't do it for me and Mike going from singing to rapping in the verses is weird, weird stuff. Overall, WTF is this? Horrible. ROADS UNTRAVELED, 3/10 How many fucking songs are going to start with some sampled stuff? Can the band not play an actual instrument to start a song on the CD until the last song, lol? This is a cool sample to start it, hard to describe what it sounds like (not that swirling noise, but the noise afterward). But the song is easily the worst slow song I have heard since Iridescent. Absolutely unenjoyable but beats a lot of songs on this album. SKIN TO BONE, 1/10 After hearing this like 4 times now, I am ready to skip it on all future listens. Pure garbage. Not even anything to say about it because I can't pick out anything I like. UNTIL IT BREAKS, 2/10 Welcome to the biggest letdown on the album. Shinoda trying to sound gangster over a pathetic beat while the vocals are mixed so far under this wave of electronica popper stopper bullshit it's unbelievable. The LYRICS are fucking awesome as it gets. I mean legit great lyrics. But the flow here is awful, the beat is nothing. Fort Minor music absolutely destroys this with the rapping. Take the lyrics here, change the flow and throw it over an FM-era beat and you'll have a nasty little song. After the raps the song gets weird as hell - Brad singing is odd stuff. Song does nothing for me. The verse 2 lyrics over WFTE are 10000000000x better in terms of a beat and flow so I hope they keep that live and don't play this. Damn this would be absolutely miserable to see at a concert. I had high expectations here and was really let down by this song. I analyzed the first verse lyrics though since I basically know the second verse already and I love them - all lyrics here are solid, but everything else is pathetic. TINFOIL, 3/10 What an unnecessary song on the album. The live version is way better than this. Just put this as part of the last song. I'll give it a 3 because it'd be a cool intro on an album version of POWERLESS to make the song longer...no need for this extra track. POWERLESS, 8/10 Well this is not a bad way to close the CD here. LOVE how Chester sings the verses - this has to be one of his best verse melodies I've ever heard him sing. For a slower song he does a GREAT job with the vocals. The chorus isn't all that great to me with the melody there but hey, I can't be that picky lol. I enjoy this song a good bit. When he starts singing over the beginning piano...damn...that is really good stuff by Chester right there. Solid solid song. ----------- Best 2 songs are CASTLE OF GLASS and POWERLESS for me - love them both...I'LL BE GONE is alright but damn, everything else is an absolute let down. The electronica intros and overproduced vocals (x10924838434) really are annoying as hell. That's great if the band produced an album you all love but this really does nothing for me outside of two slower songs. I mean absolutely a let down. ATS first listen wasn't that great to me either but damn I loved it 290434348x as much as I like this. Bring on August with the 10 Years "Minus the Machine" CD and I'll show you some legit jamming music. Their new songs will be fucking amazing. Electronica music isn't my thing until it's FILTHY jams like - perfect example of rock and electronica. Can't wait to see the band on the Honda Civic Tour and finally get to see APFMH, Blackout, With You and Runaway and hopefully see CASTLE OF GLASS and POWERLESS.....and unfortunately I guess they'll play other nonsense off of this album. Weakest LP CD to date. Sounds like Shinoda listened to Bangarang by Skrillex and tried to replicate it with his band with the abrupt structure changes and shit and just failed miserably. A Thousand Suns destroys this album up and down 5000x over. ATS makes this look like a pathetic excuse for an album, and I'm not even a big ATS fan.

Opening for LIT. House of Blues Anaheim. We're Here With You Surrounded by Cowards Fail With Grace Cruel Daze of Summer Palm Springs Reset Someday Soon (Live Remix Version) Breakfast in Berlin We need the setlist on a show page, plus they have a new show at the Observatory in OC on 8/25.
-
Does a version exist with the full show? If not that's really disappointing.
-
Not a fan :/
-
Yeah ATL show was terrible. Berlin movie event was cool. Dropped songs though, that really ruined it since you could tell. Also the audio mix fucking sucked. Not Ethan's fault since he mixes well but the 5.1 people really screwed it. Blackout was miserable. German fans were jamming but not like I've seen in the past. Show was cool.

No problem. We found the date so we put it up there under the real date -
Great information, thanks!

Torrents are so easy to use....

Naaa not really. If it was a previous album it would have been. Each CD that comes out I get more and more ability to tolerate the leak and wait until the CD drops. This time I really disliked BID and LGM, not my kind of music, so it wasn't hard. Add that to the fact I discovered the 2011 Flipsyde EP last week and I saw Keane in Nashville 2 days ago and have been jamming to their new album for 48 hours....not bad. Seeing the theater event tomorrow and will grab the CD Tuesday sometime if it's in a store near me. Hope it's good. BID and LGM are easily two of the worst songs I've heard by LP, right along with Iridescent and H! Vltg3. Hearing Shinoda in interviews from 2010-now destroy the idea of LP making "3-4 minute radio singles that we can make in a day no problem...that's not what we want to do" etc.... then hearing BID I just did a facepalm immediately.
-
I like the first two. The shooting one I don't want to include. I think that portrays the band in a way they shouldn't be portrayed, maybe if we reword it we could use it. OSC I thought was written because they were writing Runaway and it pissed them off that they couldn't finish the song so they took their anger out with OSC.

Great! Thanks!

On the 22nd and 23rd, Linkin Park went to Japan to play two TV show performances in Tokyo for the promotion of their new album. We found out from Mike just before the first show that Brad couldn't make the flight to Japan for these performances because he was sick: "On a serious note, thank you to our tech Jeremy for filling in for Brad, who is sick and couldn't make it to Japan." This was the first time that Brad has not made it to a show at all and that Jeremy has had to fill in. We all remember Ted filling in for Phoenix last year in Bangkok and Kurt filling in for Chester on 'Shadow Of The Day' due to his broken wrist in Hindmarsh, Australia in 2007. Brad missed the hour and a half Sunrise 2011 soundcheck party that had 50~ fans in attendance but his recorded parts were played over the PA instead of someone filling in. He was also sick at that show but was able to play that night during the regular performance. On the 22nd, Linkin Park (well 5/6's of Linkin Park) played the TV Asahi Studios in Tokyo for Music Station (show page here), where they performed 'BURN IT DOWN'. Unfortunately when it was shown on TV, the broadcast fucked up and the audio & video were out of sync. The only video on YouTube right now is this one since our favorite people at WBR have taken down the others.... And then on the 23rd, the band played the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan (show page here), where they played two shows last year as well as hosting their 5th LPU Summit there. They also played the venue for Live Earth in 2007. At this show they played 'LIES GREED MISERY', 'Numb', and 'BURN IT DOWN'. The video of those songs can be seen at the 3 minute mark in this video - thanks to MikeShinodaClan.com for that! On the 27th, Linkin Park plays Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles and on the 29th they play the X Games event at Club Nokia. For now those are the only two shows coming up for the band that have been announced until the Honda Civic Tour begins on August 11th in Bristow, VA. Perhaps there will be an album release show for LIVING THINGS? We will see! For the full 2012 tour schedule and setlists/show info from shows so far in 2012, click here.

All of the other facts on PMA are accurate. I don't think this one is though.

Lupe Fiasco - The Instrumental featuring Mike Shinoda vocals?
hahninator replied to Fyzer's topic in Side Projects
I just saw this on eBay today. This song features Jonah Matranga. A lot of people thought it was Mike when it first came out but it sampled Jonah in the end we learned. Shinoda produced this song - is there a version with him on vocals? Maybe he did a demo of it? Or is this CD just a mistake? It looks pretty legit.... -

I guess you have a fair point. I guess we have shifted from live updates of random stuff to more of a legit news-reporting website and live coverage. I still remember when we posted news articles about a day's worth of updates to the site. Just links and what was corrected on shows, etc. Originally we never reported any LP news during at least half of 2007 and after that we slowly shifted into doing news. Fair enough.
-
No show until the 22nd and want to know how many times people have requested mp3s of this in the audio section and/or made threads in general LP discussion talking about it? Probably one of the most talked about "live happenings" at an LP show due to all the uncertainty surrounding it. 2007 to now on LPL I know this has been discussed a lot. If this isn't your kind of news, you don't have to read it

Best 2012 show so far due to the setlist. Numb really blows as second to last...doesn't fit there at all. Love the order of the first few songs...so badass. APFMH is really, really good. Best performance of it in a long time for me, maybe since 2004. Bridge is intense. Chester on Faint sounds really bad but he improves throughout the show. Reminds me of Given Up at Stockholm 2011...both performances were really painful to listen to.

If you've explored our live guide or been in the LP community online for a few years, you've probably heard of how from 2001-2004 it was very common for the band to have guests on 'One Step Closer'. Band members from Cypress Hill, Story Of The Year, POD, Adema and more....Aaron Lewis from Staind, Jonathan Davis from Korn and many others have joined Linkin Park over the years for OSC. This means you've probably heard of the time Eminem and D12 joined them on the song in Detroit in 2002. Yeah, except that didn't happen. Thanks to a recent discovery by an LPLive member in the forum shoutbox, we now can read a review of the show and see pictures of it. Full size image In the above picture you'll see Mark from Adema and Sen Dog from Cypress Hill along with Chester, Rob, and Brad on stage for 'One Step Closer'...and there's no D12 or Eminem! Earlier today the LPLive staff researched where in fact this "rumor" came from and all we could find is that "Forfeit The Game", an old LP fansite says this: "Over the years, the band have collaborated on the live version of One Step Closer with many different artists, some of these include: - Dilated Peoples - Marky Chavez (of Adema) - Wes Scantlin (of Puddle of Mudd) - Sonny Sandovel (of P.O.D.) - Hoobastank - Story of the Year - Jonathan Davis (of Korn) - Eminem & D-12" But that doesn't list the exact show. Upon further investigation we couldn't really figure out how this rumor got started so we wanted to set it straight that Eminem and D12 at least didn't come out on 'One Step Closer' at LP's fifth show of Projekt Revolution 2002 in Detroit (show page here). If they did really come out for OSC at a show, we don't know when! Maybe a band member can help us out at a future M&G.... So thanks to you guys, we're a little bit more accurate now with the live guide - thanks!

Very rare case of a band leaking their own album, LOL

Got mine!
