  1. Just watching on MTV Germany. We knew WID was good (in complete form here btw), but Faint just blew me away. Great sound, Chester just perfect - one of the best performances of the song ever I think. Now I hope it's the complete show ...
  2. I'm pretty sure that My Suffering bit is a misinformation, someone got the song titles mixed up. Happens all the time. From Chester's quotes I think it's obvious that he's talking about Crawl Back In, as he already did a couple of times before (you know, about getting through a rough time, getting it together again, "crawling back in" ...)
  3. I just hope Warner won't screw around again. But since there's not really a new album going along with the tour, those evil minds might care a little less ...
  4. Btw, are there already any plans known concerning TV or online coverage of the UK Sonicsphere? Seems to me like pretty much THE rock event of the year, I really hope the rest of the world will also get a little taste of it ...
  5. Well, that's one hell of a promotion gig for a "newcomer" without an album out ... I think it's great that the rest of the band is pulling DBS along. That's not something that can be taken for granted, and in my book speaks for the relationship between the bandmates.
  6. Great interview. Really like Chester's concluding take on the way music is distributed these days. And I also don't mind Rubin producing the next album as well. I think his influence on the music itself is minimal, and that the guys only want to draw on his knowledge to make sure their stuff doesn't sound like anything else. I'm not too happy though about the apparent elevation of electronics for the new record, as Chester said ...
  7. A pity that the only song on the myspace page is the Morning After remix ... why not finally put on at least one "original" song to promote the record, if it's only the original Morning After version, which won't be on the album anyway ...
  8. I see. Pheww, thought I missed something major.
  9. Could someone please remind me real quick where and when Crawl Back In could already be heard? Thanks ...
  10. Is there a longer LPUTV version around, or are LPUTV's planned at all? I just want more of that stuff, these guys are so much fun to watch, both their creative and funny sides ...
  11. Just to quickly cut in there ... you mean Valentine's Day? Not sure what you found wrong with that, I think Chester's first performance of that song (Hannover) still remains by far the best, at least regarding the verses. His voice is just incredible in certain parts.
  12. No, they didn't record the full score, but they way Mike put it on his blog suggested that they had the opportunity to "work on the score" with Jablonsky & Co., which to me means more than only snippets from the song. And to my ears that track "Nest" has more than just clips or layers form the song in it. But who knows. Maybe it all didn't work out the way it was planned. Wouldn't be the first time in a film production that certain plans (especially music-wise) get scrapped.
  13. Not sure if that's the right thread to speak about it, but since I haven't found any other ... I just heard the Transformers score album, and my initial fears after seeing the track list have been confirmed: there's just this one track "Nest" that contains music by LP, the rest is just the espected film music at its worst. Hell, they should have let LP write the whole damn thing, Mike alone is a way more capable composer than Jablonksy or any of those other Zimmer clones. Maybe just get someone who arranges music for an orchestra, and the result could have been far more convincing. The only time something acutally happens in the score is when some of Zimmer's past works are ripped off, this time around most notably King Arthur (and a little Pirates of the Caribbean here and there - which is, granted, not really a Zimmer rip-off, since these scores were composed by about 15 different people). Seriously, the one track featuring LP is by far the most interesting ... take that from someone who collects and devotely listens to (classical) film music for a large part of his life. Now my only hope is that Jablonsky is just a dick who wants to have as much of his own music on the album as possible, and that there is more LP score in the movie ...
  14. To get back to topic ... could have been that Joe had a lot more in mind with the video at first, but while cutting, the studio stepped in and wanted more scenes from the movie to be included ... maybe some of the weirder looking effects are more of a last minute work to fit the film clips in with the style of the rest of the video. As was mentioned before, a DC might pop up eventually. But I like this cut, anyway...
  15. Can't believe that's so hard to understand. Of course this effect is intentional; but it still looks a little more messed-up at low bit rates because of the sudden burst of visual information. Think about rain or heavy snow in a video at low bit rates. The better the quality, the more effective it will look.
  16. Not perfect but indeed better: http://www.mtv.de/videos/20181494 May be restricted to German users, though. One could try out proxys ... I'm way more happy having seen it in a better quality. Now these pixalization effects look more like whirling "paint" than pixel mess-up.
  17. Maybe I'm a little behind on this, but ... so this talk about Foo Fighters, Maiden, G'N'R playing at Sonicsphere in London was BS?
  18. Been a fly on the wall here for the last couple of days, but I'm not sure if anyone mentioned the Oscars before ... My thought is, if Paramount play their cards right and do some promotion with the Academy voters next year, there may be a chance of LP being nominated for an Oscar. Wouldn't be the first time for a summer blockbuster movie (think of this wretched song for Michael Bay's own Pearl Harbor, just to name one), and moreover, there aren't really that many original movie songs around these days; more and more often, along comes a musical or music-themed film, and usually two or three or more songs from that one movie get nominated, I'm sure at laest partly due to a lack of alternatives. Voters might jump at something different for a change. I mean, hell, even Eminem got an Oscar ... Just a thought. Wouldn't it be cool to see the boys perform on Oscar night, a clean, straight-forward performance without much ado, shaking things up in a stiff show ...
  19. Just to throw something in here, Mike also stated that the scoring team around Jablonsky (and whoever else works on this ... this kind of "team work" by Zimmer & Co. is kind of a running joke in the film music community, fyi. Since, you know, real composers don't work that way) already worked with LP's material, so this can very well be from their song, although the final mix is not yet finished.
  20. Just read that Chris Cornell will play Rock am Ring / Rock im Park ... now it would be so cool to have some more collab action here in Germany ...
  21. Gräfenhaininchen is not too far from Berlin, so it's evenly spread. And that Ferropolis location is cool as hell, check it out on the net. But it would also be Stuttgart for me in that case. However, I wish we would already know if they'll play Rock am Ring / Rock im Park; the latter would be far more convenient for me. It looks like the headliners are not set yet, so there's still hope. But I'd love to know that before I actually buy a ticket for Stuttgart ...
  22. DBS album in september? Bummer. Thought it would come way sooner. Or does that mean the new LP album is taking shape faster than expected and will come first?
  23. All that is really interesting. But what about the audio? Has there been SBD audio added to the videos? Otherwise, it would be a nice gimmick, but I wouldn't really care for a concert with an AUD audio recording ...
  24. Hey guys, has anyone by any chance found a video rip of the Staind performance from the night before? Thanks ...
  25. Death to Digital ... does that mean that all these "remixes" are actually acoustic or straight-forward rock performances? Ok, guess not.
