  1. I said what I did, because I read somewhere that Rick deleted anything of theirs that sounded like their 'nu-metal' stuff. If they were writing nu metal and it was from the heart, that still has more emotion in it than a forced change of sound simply to improve 'other skills'. If I have anything to cherish from MTM and ATS, it's Living Things. I love this new album and I know that they wouldn't have been able to really get there without those two albums.

Rick didn't tell them not to make nu-metal or songs that sounded like Linkin Park. The band did that on their own. Rubin just suggested that they try different things to see what sounded best before deciding on a final direction for a song (like trying rapping over Hands Held High for example).

  2. Looks like I'm the only one who likes the second half of the album more.

Don't worry. You're not alone there. Victimized, Roads Untraveled, Skin to Bone, and Until It Breaks are all tied for my favorite right now. The second half is amazing (then again, so is the first half).

    Lost in the Echo 9/10

    In My Remains 8/10

    Burn It Down 9/10

    Lies Greed Misery 7/10

    I'll Be Gone 7/10

    Castle of Glass 9.5/10

    Victimized 10/10

    Roads Untraveled 10/10

    Skin to Bone 10/10

    Until It Breaks 10/10

    Tinfoil 8/10

    Powerless 7/10

    Average: 8.7/10

Tracks 6-10 is the best stretch on any LP album in my opinion.

  3. Everyone complains about the guitar levels/mixing but my #1 DSP request would be to raise the crowd volume on the releases. One of the most unique aspects of a LP show is the entire crowd singing every word to almost every song, and the webcast/TV rip demonstrated that perfectly. I love it when the people are almost drowning Chester out on songs like "Numb".

Anyways, Rock in Rio (Lisbon) sounds good so far. Happy to have lots of new live shows to listen to this Summer!

I like to make "studio" versions of the live intros and outros. The low crowd in the DSP's really help sometimes. lol

  4. I just listened to the remix and I honestly don't see what all the negativity is about. I think it's an awesome remix and does what a remix should - put the song in a different light. This is already better than a lot of ATS-era remixes.

Edit: I also updated the remix list in the General Linkin Park Discussion forum.

  5. The homeless? ;)

$15-20 is diapers for my son. On top of that there's: food, rent, utilities, etc. It's kind of offensive to see you posting how that's not a lot of money and then saying people opposing your view are wrong. Even a couple dollars in somebody's pocket can make a big difference depending on their financial status so just stop it.
