I disagree. I don't know if this is the only slow/melodic song on the album but I feel like it's honest that singles represents the album in the best possible way. Over each other really sounds like a single to me, not like an album track with not much single potential. Right now singles makes most sense before the album release. Singles are becoming meaningless post release date. This feels kinda like Leave out all the rest type of single. Obviously LOATR was the fifth MTM single but 2008 was a very different era. They gave HITC to the fans of their early work and now they are giving something different to fans of their more melodic work. Also HITC was not released for radio airplay so they might want to push a pop-rock ballad single to gain momentum for the release date. I know it has pop elements and meets OML halfway but it is way more a rock song than anything in OML, it's like a poppier final masquerade imo.

Linkin Park is hinting a new song 'Over Each Other'

From Zero: A Conversation with Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong
ScottiePippo replied to martinez's topic in Newswire
I think dead sara can have a brighter future with the massive new exposure they got because of Emily. But yeah I mean time wise they are kinda screwed because now they have to depend on Emily being available. It's not impossible, she could do what Chester did when he was both in LP and STP, but that's almost no life and that's the reason Chester quit STP because he couldn't spend time with his family. On september 5th Dead Sara posted on social media that they would be back in the future but the way Emily talked about Dead Sara in the podcast gave me the impression that she is not looking back at dead sara. Let's see -
From Zero: A Conversation with Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong

They talk about how they could have released way more songs on From Zero but chose to narrow it down to just 10. I'm so excited. They definitely have more music in store. They also name a few demos that are are not on the final tracklist. -
But MTM20 will be even bigger because of that

Linkin Park Adds Second Show in São Paulo, Brazil
ScottiePippo replied to LPLStaff's topic in Newswire
That is probably true but we have to consider many factors. Linkin Park already played 2 sold out shows in the US and they are for sure going to play more US shows in 2025. People in the USA might just be waiting for LP shows closer to their area when they play a proper north american tour. For Brazil it's different. Brazilian fans can't know when LP will be back after november, and they were starving for LP -

I think they are in Seoul now because of Heavy is the crown. LoL is massive in Korea. Also Joe is half korean so maybe he gave a little push to come back to korea after a long time -

I would not be surprised one way or the other. I'd understand if Brad was not there but he's also involved in the promotion of this new chapter so he might play for tv -
That's so cool. I love singles CD. The cover is amazing, so different from all LP ever released

It was bad?

A possible LP new album would not necessarily mean that they started from 0 if indeed the process started late 2023-early 2024. We know Mike has been constantly making instrumentals for years. Many of those got released but Mike could have saved some of those for LP who knows. Then there's the fact that Mike and LP are known to store unfinished projects from previous albums for years and to rework them later. We know very few demos from albums like THP and OML. So some rough ideas, demos or instrumentals from 2014-2017 could have made a comeback in the studio. Also they have been very quiet in these first 8 months of 2024 so maybe they spent this time rehearsing to find a new singer but also jamming and composing new music all together. All this to say that I think we might get a new LP album soon. They have never released a studio album in the winter so we might have to wait for spring next year. And if there's no new album on the horizon but for now it's just a non album single it's still fine for me.

QWERTY 3-track Digital Single | LPU, Discord Limited Edition Vinyls
ScottiePippo replied to martinez's topic in Newswire
If a LP fan did not want to spend money on Papercuts because he/she was only interested in Friendly Fire and QWERTY then this vinyl is a great opportunity to have them both and own a very rare release. If I had not bought Papercuts I would have definitely bought this one. Also it's limited to just 1000 copies so whoever bought this owns something that is potentially worth much more. -
QWERTY (Live in Tokyo, Japan 2006) Official Release
ScottiePippo replied to LPLStaff's topic in Newswire
Come on this is not true. Even the studio version is clearly nu metal. Given up, no more sorrow and bleed it out (the 3 heaviest songs on MTM) don't sound like QWERTY at all. MTM has a lot of different genres in it so QWERTY could fit like any other song but the only specific imposed by LP of a MTM song is to not be "Nu metal" so QWERTY clearly fails that requirements. There's too much continuity with the past in QWERTY to fit in an album that wants to break from the past so bad. -
QWERTY (Live in Tokyo, Japan 2006) Official Release
ScottiePippo replied to LPLStaff's topic in Newswire
Linkin Park left QWERTY out of Minutes to Midnight because MtM was supposed to be an album that was different from their past sound. In their minds probably there was no place for QWERTY (which is nu metal, their last nu metal song) on an album that was made to be a break point. Of course you can put QWERTY on every LP album (maybe not OML lol) and it would fit musically because LP albums are always multifaceted and not constrained to a single genre. But I can see why having QWERTY on MTM was conceptually wrong. It's not always just about the music but also what that music means to an artist. Also playing the song live months before the release of the album when they were still a long way from finishing it probably meant that they had already decided that QWERTY was not right for MTM. Of course Linkin Park loves QWERTY otherwise they would not have played it live in Japan. They brought the song back from time to time because they were aware of the fact that it was a fan favourite. -
Friendly Fire / Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)
ScottiePippo replied to martinez's topic in Newswire
So far the song has been performing similar to Fighting Myself, maybe a little better. Fighting myself is close to 60 millions after less then a year. I think we can expect Friendly fire to close 2024 with around 50 millions if it keeps going well -
Friendly Fire / Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)
ScottiePippo replied to martinez's topic in Newswire
The band reworked on Friendly Fire recently (2023 I guess) even if we don't know to which extent it was changed. So we don't know what the 2017 version sounded like. According to the band this version sounds better. -

Friendly Fire / Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)

"Looks very cash grabby to do something like that when you have the press and fans running wild about "unreleased song featuring Chester Bennington vocals" combined with the fact the band and label are both VERY aware the LP fans collect every single item with the band's name on it." Isn't that plain and simple supply and demand dynamics? I'm not a compulsive buyer and I think I'm responsable with my money. I'm going to buy the cd version because that is my preferred choice and I don't care what other people can afford to buy (if they can buy it all good for them, they do what they want with their money, and if they can't buy anything there's still free streaming). It feels like a lot of you are discovering capitalism recently or acts naive. What you are talking about (the fact that the band has always been meticulous about every single release and that there weren't X different version of the same thing) belongs to the past of the music industry. The trend is going in this direction for some time and there's not much you can do about it other than not buy everything like a maniac. The music industry is pushing is that direction to resurrect a little bit physical media and we all know that. Also a greatest hits type of release has never been something that is renowned for being special in its attention to detail/care and almost always the band is not even remotely involved in it. This is a greatest hits release and compared to the standard compilation it's not bad at all imo. -
Friendly Fire / Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)
ScottiePippo replied to martinez's topic in Newswire
I don't think so. 2023 was a good year for LP fans with Meteora20. I don't think wb would plan two "major" release in the same year, They only did that in 2003 and 2017 with a live album following studio album, and I think that was little different from this. Especially because meteora20 and papercuts have the same marketing strategy (new unreleased lp with chester) so wb would want a little time to pass between the two. I'm honestly surprised papercuts came so soon. The fact that the title says 2023 instead of 2024 I think is delibarate. These releases and their campaign are planned way in advance so they would have had the time to correct to 2024 if they wanted to imo. -
Friendly Fire / Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)
ScottiePippo replied to martinez's topic in Newswire
I think the timing for this release is very consistent with what the band has being doing recently with HT20 and Meteora20. There has been a couple of weeks of teasing and anticipation. Then the single to launch the promotion and then a little less then 2 months later the album drops. If this feels to you a little rushed it's also because I don't think the band or the label thinks this is as big of a deal as the two boxset. It's clearly not. Those two boxset were huge in terms of effort to put it toghether and also the new unreleased and rare material in them was much more than friendly fire and qwerty. Concerning the artwork I think the fact that is simple doesn't mean that it was rushed. The cover of ATS is super simple and that album took foverer. I honestly like both the cover of the singles collection and that of friendly fire. I appreciate their simplicity. Everyone has a different taste but just because you don't like it I don't think it's fair to start theories and accusation for why is that.
