Lost also plays after Chester sings the disclosure agreement song, but its a different intro
it’s a looped part of the verse, before vocals were recorded for it.

Have you not seen this topic, lol?
That one was when I came across the instrumental also playing in the “Mike’s Shirt” Minutes to Midnight era LPTV. And I turned out to be correct, it was also in that video. It’s the same “Lost” 2002 Mix instrumental in the extended Summer Sanitarium LPTV (can tell it’s the original 2002 mix because it was obviously made in 2007 but also you can hear the more live sounding drums in both videos and heavier guitar in the summer sanitarium video).
A lot of fans heard the Making of Meteora clip but never knew or thought to look for the instrumental casually appearing behind LPTV videos.

How about Massive and Wesside, are those 2 more unknown tracks that are a mystery on the lost demos?
likely.
Healing Foot, Massive, and Wesside will almost definitely be original demos we never heard in any form. One of those three is probably the Rob Drum Track. One might even be the Wizard Song’s instrumental who knows.

Well, that's not the last of the mysteries of Meteora. We still don't know what Nocturnal is.
We at least know all of the songs now. Titles of songs are a whole different thing. Nocturnal, Serpent, and Resolution are the ones we still don’t know which song they belong to yet, and any of which could belong to NL, Numb, Lost, or FM.
Seems like Resolution is gonna be a demo for “Lost”, and they probably didn’t name it “Resolution (Lost Demo)” as to not spoil the mystery of what it is yet.
I think either Serpent or Nocturnal is definitely Nobody’s Listening
God knows what Numb is could also be Serpent or Nocturnal.
Fighting Myself I have no clue it’s the 4th one, maybe it was in the blank space we saw.

a finalized Cumulus with vocals is so beautiful. It’s just like i had imagined.
We know now, that Cumulus WAS a demo of an unreleased full song.
Turns out the 3 finalized songs from the sessions are in fact Lost, Fighting Myself (almost finalized), and More The Victim. The mystery of Meteora is no more.

It could end up on streaming, but I think the only reason we're getting this original mix is to juice sales of the deluxe CD. I bet that was easily the worst-performing part of HT20, and in Warner's eyes that's a problem. If you can easily make it more worthwhile to the diehards, why not do it? Aside from it being shitty, I guess.
people were saying on reddit that it probably won’t make it to streaming services but i have my doubts on that. I think the new bonus track will be added onto streaming services like spotify and apple music too. It would seem wrong to make the original version of “Lost” not available to everyone. We’ll see what happens though.

Maybe that's why they decided to add the original mix to the CD bundle, to recreate a "What If" with 14 tracks.
PS: besides the obvious cashgrab
I hope LP will make the 2003 version available on music streaming platforms too at release. Unless it’s really gonna be a “secret” on the CD. They didn’t really do that with HT20 so hopefully they won’t with Mt20. It’ll probably make its way on youtube either way.

the A.06 short version in itself is basically just an instrumental bridge part of the song. I’m wondering if “A6” will have that part in it or if it’s in general a demo from NRG or from Mike’s home studio. I’m guessing it’s from before they entered NRG. Guess we’ll find out April 7th

The instrumental of Lost is not that good
I disagree a bit. The new one isn’t incredible but I think the original Andy Wallace mix will be a lot better. The new mix doesn’t fit with the sound of the rest of the album, and the 2002 mix most definitely will.

I also think this song is not a demo. It was recorded in the studio with all the other album tracks as we saw in Making of meteora. I believe it’s a full complete song
Boy this aged well

The original “Lost” (2002 Mix) by Andy Wallace, who mixed Meteora is coming to the Deluxe CD. The version for the single is a 2023 official remaster by Mike, which is why it sounds so much like a fresh, awesome modern LP song, but keeping the general Meteora sound in it.
It’ll be really cool to hear the original mix too, we’ll get to hear what the song would sound like if released in 2003, and it’ll probably sound a lot more like the other album tracks.
(the instrumental heard in “Mike’s Shirt” and “Summer Sanitarium” is the 2002 Mix)

anyone else hear the full song yet? 🤫

Okay so when I said the guitars maybe were in Drop B, I actually played that exact chord progression (but in Drop B). So I guess the only thing I got wrong was the tuning, and I wouldn´t be that wrong since they used Drop B tuning in Don´t Stay and Nobody´s Listening
It’s actually not the same tuning as on Don’t Stay and Nobody’s Listening. That threw me off too because at first I thought it was. It’s the same tuning as Numb, Faint, Lying From You, etc. The low C (3rd measure of the chorus) is not a drop C 5th powerchord.
And to answer your question, I just used LALAL.ai online music isolating software. It’s free for previews of like 30secs. Not great, not terrible.

@HFL377 mentioned that the song is in the key of B minor but he thought the guitars were tuned to Drop C#.
The song “Lost” is in the key of C Major or A Minor. (Tuning is Drop C#) (Alternatively Drop B tuning could also work but it would mess up the quick slide effects between frets.) There’s a slide between D and F (measure 1 to 2) and G and D (measure 4 back to 1) I used software to isolate the guitar and that’s how I could really hear how it’s played. It’s actually the same progression as “Numb”, just different keys (frets).

It reminds me a lot of “modern” LP too, some In my remains vibes
It’s interesting. I would say one reason it gives the modern LP vibes is because it’s been remastered for Meteora 20. I think we’ll also get to hear the original 2002 Mix too, which probably won’t be all too different. All Meteora tracks would probably sound a little like “modern” LP if remastered in 2023.
The music has changed throughout the years but it’s always been tied together with the same distinctive sound, so that’s probably why. I can easily recognize it as a Meteora-era track, because of how heavy the drums and guitar are but it gives some later vibes too in some of the leads we hear in there.
There’s a lot of keyboard sounds on Lost too, which makes it pretty interesting to listen too, especially for a Meteora track, where songs would usually be 5-8 percent keyboard.
1 hour ago, NJPLP said:I think it has all 7 of the studio album eras mixed into one song.
That’s bold. I don’t know how much I think it sounds like later than MTM LP. I think ATS and on have a more “new” sound to them, electronically. Lost doesn’t really give me any THP or OML vibes.
In my opinion, Lost really does have the sound to a good late 90s-early 2000s rock song in the chorus as far as some of the keyboard sounds go, and the echo effect on the guitar, like some other tracks on Meteora have too, like BTH’s clean guitar.
Also, Lost does have 2 guitars in it. I wonder if Astat will eventually do a cover of it. I don’t know if he’s still doing covers, but he’s got the sound.
I’ve already figured out (I think) the guitar for Lost. The only problem is while I play guitar, I absolutely cannot write out guitar tabs but I’ll try to do my best to make it make sense.
(number are written in the order of string 6 to 1)
tuning: standard LP drop Csharp
song key: C Major
tempo: 105 4/4 time signature
D pwr chord (1,1,1,0,0,0) , F pwr chord (4,4,4,0,0,0) , C pwr chord (6,4,6, 0, 0, 0) G pwr chord (6,6,6, 0, 0, 0)
other guitar:
A octave (high) (0, 0, 8, 0, 11, 0)
I guess it’s played the same way as the octave guitar part on “Crawling” but this time never switches notes.

Lost has that sound to it that leans more toward Meteora but also sounds a bit like an MTM demo. It was probably early influence for the album, similar to the “Attached” demo. It’s strange though too because it also has a kind of Hybrid Theory singing style Chester does too. It’s like all three eras in one song.

Someone mentioned Meteora “sequels” to songs on Hybrid Theory so here’s my personal list on how I feel about which 13 songs are kind of “sequels” to HT tracks. This is split between some being more similar instrumentally and others more similar lyrically.
1 Papercut - Faint
2 One Step Closer - Figure.09
3 With You - Somewhere I Belong
4 Points of Authority - Hit The Floor
5 Crawling - Easier To Run
6 Runaway - Don’t Stay
7 By Myself - From The Inside
8 In The End - Lost
9 A Place For My Head - Lying From You
10 Forgotten - Nobody’s Listening
11 Cure For The Itch - Session
12 Pushing Me Away - Numb
13 My December - Breaking The Habit

Lost was certainly not used for an album promo. I think people would remember if it was. He’s totally bs’ing.
Hardcore fans have already dug up/talked about every surfaced clip of Lost. That guy must be thinking of A.06. If not he’s either totally bullshitting or he works at NRG, and I doubt he does.
-
I’ve listened to that Lost snippet on soundcloud a couple times now, and I think the song actually would’ve fit fine on Meteora. Personally, I think it’d fit best on the album between Faint and Figure.09. I can tell the difference in it, but there’s a few songs on Meteora that are pretty different from the rest, take Nobody’s Listening, Breaking The Habit, and Numb for example. Still it feels very Meteora, so it could very well have fit in with the album, and it was probably very close to making the album. I’m just glad we’re finally getting to hear it after all these years.
Also, the chorus, if it was rewritten, it’s slightly better than “Thoughts That Take Away My Pride, trapped in places deep inside” In my opinion. I can see why they might have thought that chorus was a bit bland. It makes the same point that the final lyrics do, but isn’t quite as depthful, and just a little too wordy for the song (in my opinion, again). That’s something that comes with writing every song to make it the best it can be, is sometimes rewriting when something isn’t fully there yet. In Making of Meteora, producer Don Gilmore mentions stuff similar to this.

Chester in the verse sounds like something from 2010-2017, really interesting.
Can't wait!
I kinda disagree in that he has that same singing he does on Numb in the verses, so I can tell it’s young Chester from 2002. Chester’s voice did change a bit over the years, but he always did kind of sound the same.
also check out this vid and go to the 0:50 mark:
“LOOOST” lol. Probs was just a coincidence tho. It sounds like he might have been referencing it a bit. or he was just simply joking about baggage getting lost. It’s all in the way Mike said it lmao. Maybe it was a double entendre

I feel like the “2002 Mix” will sound more like the Album tracks. Hopefully that gets released too. The remaster sounds a lot better I’m sure but the original Mix would be cool to hear too! Just to hear what the song would have sounded like if released in 2003.
