I love that they spent time at East West studios for From Zero, a very famous studio where System of a down recorded toxicity at, and many more recorded well-known albums at. Mike actually mentioned that Studio B was perfect for the band because of its size, and that it had the right kind of comfortability for him to work in with the band. Especially for the drum recordings on the album because of the size of the room and sound it had to offer.

I posted it in the chat box a few months ago. Maybe that’s where you saw it. I’m not sure if anyone else ever made it an official thread before though.

Thanks man, this episode is such a gem! 💎

A couple of months ago, I discovered a YouTube channel by the name of Alex Crescioni who has a podcast featuring Linkin park's longtime assistant engineer Josh Newell. Josh has worked with LP inside of NRG studios along with Ethan Mates on a majority of their albums, starting all the way back in the early 2000's as a studio runner. Josh covers a load of topics on what he actually assisted on in the studio, providing a very detailed explanation on some of the jobs he had including recording the band, gathering specific types of gear requested by the band during Linkin Park's sound evolution, and working with the mind of Rick Rubin. He also expresses many of the challenges he faced on a day-to-day basis and how that taught him proper studio etiquette while navigating each band members individual personalities. Josh provides insight on how some days were ''good days'' and some days were ''bad days'', and how those days taught him to either blend in or stay out of the band's way. One particular story that's noteworthy is when the band decided to order thousands of balloons and fill the studio up during the A Thousand Suns era, as referenced in this iconic LPUTV episode: https://youtu.be/R03NU6KBmjg?si=xD8iVb9iYVee6blq ''Balloon Crawl'' where Josh had to overcome obstacles (literally) such as tripping over unseen mic cables, balloons bursting during the recording process, and how that affected him as an assistant engineer in charge of making sure everything was running properly. There's so much more to this podcast episode I'll leave for you to discover and enjoy! Big shout out to Alex Crescioni for hosting this incredible episode and asking really great questions to Josh and shout out to Josh for giving the fans a different perspective inside the studio process of Linkin Park like you've never heard before! Enjoy.

Heaven yeah! Brother.

I have nothing to add, but reading these are very entertaining! I wonder what Chester's verse parts on figure.09 sounded like.

Rob with blonde hair? That’s a new for me! Haha

Can The Mall be considered an LP record?
AceWav replied to bloodbath's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Do you know where I can find both versions of the masters? I don’t think I’ve heard the different version. -
I see your perspective on that and I agree to some extent. However I live in Florida. We are always on the news. There’s always a mass shooting here at a school or at a Halloween party or Christmas event or a church. Or, the worse criminals who make world headlines are literally from my neighboring county. It all depends on where you live… it’s one thing to see the news constantly spew it, but it’s another to live very close to all the incidents. Of course there’s no hard feelings, we all come from different places with different degrees of danger.

Yes sadly, but it's not just America anymore. It's literally anywhere. Australia just had one. I don't feel completely safe no matter what country or rock concert or overly crowded place. Crazy people walk the earth everywhere but America is the country who gets a boner over it and puts it on the news all the time.

Try doing that in Florida in May at Rockville lol 😂 the heat… the lack of moisture, the smell… the people beating everyone else up. Drunks and smoke everywhere. It’s not worth being close to the band out here unless your willing to risk heat exhaustion or a bloody face.

Meanwhile me and my friend Chris prefer NOT to be standing in the crowd or to where we can’t escape a mass shooting or some crazy shit like that. Thankfully I went with someone who thinks exactly like me. Safety and comfort OVER being the closest or in the pit or whatever. We were off to the side standing probably only 100 feet from the stage near a clear and obvious exit haha. Point is, we don’t mind seats or being further away if need be.

I’m right there with you. I don’t need to say anything. This is my wish also.

and Chester sounded so solid on it! Especially the full live performance of HT in 2014.
-
I especially like when he talks about getting his own bag as his own man. And how he’s going to get that anyways whether Mike helps him or not.

Thanks brother. 🤘🏼

That’s the BEST song on Hybrid Theory (in my opinion). The iconic intro scream either live or on reanimation. The bouncy and heavy riffs, the interplay between Mike and Chester and the somewhat positive lyrics in the bridge. 🙏🏻🤘🏼 I will always welcome this song to their set list. I loved when they brought it back during the living things cycle. That was really cool

*cues WID* no but seriously, thank you for your honesty and kind words. And I couldn’t help myself I had to insert the bad LP joke. But the lyrics are relevant to my situation 😂
-
I’m sorry directly to you for saying that. And Trumtram thanks for pointing this out. About me. It’s something I’m thinking about now and will try to be more mindful of.

Wells that’s nice to know! And nobody is always 💯 positive or correct anyways. I’m surely not always positive, I will have my moments like when I read the Coke thing. But I’m sorry for calling someone an idiot. I didn’t have to insult anyone
-
No, I love Linkinpedia. Not being aggressive towards a website lmao. More towards the idea of Mike doing coke. I went and read it to verify if it says Mike did Coke or not, then I read the drunk part, and also found that to be less dumb, but still dumb to note. It’s just my opinion. Most of you say far worse shit on here in the chat box everyday.
-
I was referring to whoever said Mike did coke was an idiot, I didn’t clarify that. But the drunk thing I also find stupid because why does it actually matter? Did Mike fall off stage? Or was he simply having a good time? Is it really that note worthy then? That’s why I find this completely silly. “Omg Mike was drunk?? Let’s write it on LinkinPedia.” I’m simply trying to understand the logic of some people in this forum.

Where are you getting Rob from? Where’s the source that triggered your impression on that? 😂
