I also think we will get surprises! Which would be what makes From Zero its own unique shade of LP, including many shades of the past in this record ultimately defined as ''Linkin Park in Genral'' quoting Mike there. I know it's early, but i will go on a limb and say that FROM ZERO is going to turn out a very classic Linkin Park album of this decade. The reason I say that is Emily's impact and introduction to the band, but also, their utilizing all aspects of what made them so successful (each shade of LP I mean) on this one record, and I believe there's a energy in that. With Emily's fresh energy and sound, it's already destined to define this record's sound and the sound of a generation.

I knew about this from Reddit last week, but i took it with a grain of salt until now! I'm especially excited if that rumor of a Hahn video is true. Can't wait to hear more variety off this album. Also, unrelated song but still related to the record, ''Overflow'' according to Pheonix from a recent interview, sounds like it's going to be a weirder stand-out song, similar to how breaking the habit was on Meteora.

Two songs immediately come to mind. Mike's raps remind me of ''I have not begun'' and the elements in the track reminded me of ''Aubrey One'' 2009 demo, as LP we're going in a very heavy direction before going left field during the ATS sessions according to some of the demos on LPU14. Here's the track I have a feeling Mike pulled from for ''Heavy Is The Crown'', listen to the synth especially during the build up with guitars. Maybe Mike actually used this demo as reference or he simply wrote something like it.

Def not ruining my first experience with a potato quality version.

I'm predicting a Mike Rap nu metal song and Emily on the chorus and screams.
-
it won't surprise me if some of the new songs are demos from random LP ERA's. It would be really fascinating if Mike grabbed something unfinished from Meteora, HT, MTM or THP just based off of the sound so far and re-worked it, even if it was a simple riff idea or a ''seed'' rather than a demo.

This is great news considering all the negatives the world is trying to throw at the band and singer as of lately. I read a comment saying ''And again, another good thing we're not allowed to have'', as in, every time we have a reason to enjoy something, or be excited, it's as if it does not come without Taxes (negativity). You can tell there's a lot of party poopers out there right now wanting to diminish any ounce of positivity or excitement about LP's return, so much that every source announcing the band and their mothers have to talk about it now, so i can't hide from it, but i am choosing to not let that ruin my own experiences. This website is the only safe space on the internet for LP fans and it's still not completely safe lmao.

This is something Iām really looking forward to aside from the obvious new music.
-
so is this technically going to be the most polarizing LP era of them all? If you really think about it.
-
That would be very interesting! For some reason I can hear them opening up with nobody can save me. If they just opened up abruptly with that initial vocal melody, plus that song rocks a little harder live, theni think even Mike could handle the range in that song.

The songs on OML that are in my opinion going to live next to the classics for me are NBCSM, Sorry For Now, and Sharp Edges. I also really like halfway right. Those are the tracks I donāt get bored of. The rest of the album is good, but those songs are the standouts for me. I currently dislike the song OML. I rarely listen to it. Not because it makes me upset but I donāt know, it had one meaning and then completely changed meanings and now itās rather an annoying reminder of a bad time.
-
I really love OML also. Theres a huge sense of nostalgia with that last record with Chaz for me. Not to tell too much āstoryā cause I donāt want to veer off topic much, but the hype for OML and into its release was during a time when I was just getting into music seriously, I was going to school for music production and interning at a nice private recording studio, so In many ways, the hype going to audio college mixed with the hype of a new LP record was amazing, and then very bittersweet for obvious reasons at the end of the cycle. The album makes me feel emotions I simply cannot describe. so just to connect to your love for OML. and me too man, ATS was the only record that took a while. I still have yet to fully process ATS. It sounds like it would have been the final record to me just because of its sophistication and its very brave approach. Not to mention the sound of ATS will probably be relevant for the next 20 years.

I am very curious for those of you who say ''I am uncertain if I will like the new direction Linkin Park are headed in or not'', did you guys end up disliking any particular LP album before but eventually grew into it and decided you liked it? Or is there an LP album (or more) that you still dislike in terms of the direction they went to this day as a hardcore LP fan? I want to dig in your minds a bit. I have a gut feeling most will be on board after initial reactions, particularly the negative ones. But with that being said, i know here's a lot of people who will generally dislike new LP without chaz.

Oh hey I can be there š not far from me

I never really liked BIO. It's one of my least enjoyed LP songs as a hard-time fan. I could never really get into it. IF they re-release this with a new lead or remaster it or whatever, i'll prob not care at all. if they use it as their comeback single, as a re-release of some sorts, then I'll be extremely disappointed. I really hope this is just about a video upgrade and nothing else. My personal idea is that it's a remastered video, but the multiple social posts are too boost the singles plays, cranking LP's relevancy across the platforms, kinda like revving their engine before the NEW announcements come.

You got that right!

I canāt be too sure, but yes I am pretty optimistic because Iām just looking at the fact that Mike keeps going, the band keeps putting out new music, they are doing a comeback tourā¦ I mean, all signs for me point forward and appear to be a transitional thing. Itās like weāre in a transitional era at the moment
-
Me too! A new Era seems to be upon us. We all kinda need one. Theres been a lot of going backwards in time lately (thankfully because we got new old music) but we want a better closure at the end of all this. Itās been one hell of a journey as LP fans, especially for those day 1 underground street soldiers

Yeah this sounds realistic. And thatās also why I wanted to be careful in my comment about those grieving, itās okay to feel sad and be reminded and feel sad again and I think to various levels we all feel that way as time goes on. But it doesnāt seem healthy to constantly put yourself in those emotions and consistently bring it up whenever possible, especially in hopes to gain sympathy, because at that point it comes off as selfish and needy for attention. Theres a massive group of these types of people who seem to feed off one anotherās similar comments and emotions and itās like theyāre all stirring in their own big pot of sadness for 7 years while Mike is like āYep. So hereās an album, hereās a bunch of singles, hereās some songs I produced for fans, hereās new unreleased LP, time to hire a new singer (if thatās actually true) and the list goes on, while having been one of the closest people to Chester. Mike makes a great example of moving on and not wallowing in his sadness. But like you said, thereās really not stopping these sort of comments moving forward, probably not for another decade till people finally get tired of their own repetitive thoughts š

Mike literally said he wouldnāt ever hire a chester sound alike or even work with someone who sounds like Mike himself! And I hate to say it but Alex definitely mimics Chester thus the thousand LP covers because he understands he can utilize his tonality to support his music career and I donāt blame him one bit. I would do exactly the same if I had the pipes and tone like him. Itās working out for him. But it would be really weird and kind of disrespectful to Chester to put him in the actual band. How would Chester feel if he were still around and Mike used a āsound alikeā to replace Chester? Not a good move. The same goes for Dimitris P. No hate if theyāre reading this but itās true.
