No, don't get it confused, I'm stuck in the MTM days. Every bad post I made about ATS was comparing it to MTM and how much I loved MTM.
-
Yeah, I'd like to meet LPL members at the show. That looks fucking awesome.
-
Sorry if I overly offended anyone on this thread...I tend to be way too vocal on my opinions a lot of the time, I don't really mean to offend everyone. I think this thread should just be closed at this point.

I know. Linkin Park deserves way more credit from critics and the music business, but sadly they're usually left short for some reason. LP has the sales, they've sold like 75 million albums or something and that's only off of a couple releases! 4 albums in over 10 years! LP is really skilled and good. Idk.

LP will always be a ''nu-metal'' band, sadly, to many critics and about everyone else who isn't a LP fan. I've never seen anybody that isn't a LP fan stick up for them and say they aren't a nu-metal band, it's really only the band themselves and fans that say they aren't a nu-metal band. I'm not saying they are a nu-metal band, but that's what idiots like to say, and most critics and shit are in fact idiots. Anyone that isn't a LP fan is kind of an idiot, IMO, but I'm not gonna get into that. LOL.

LOL wtf. I'm done posting in this thread because it's getting stupid now. Some fans love ATS, some fans (like me), love older albums. But I'll wait to give me judgement until the 5th album is released or the first single drops, even though I have little to no hope for it. We will see.

If they play a new set in Japan, they'll probably play that set in Florida. I'm going to Florida. That would be dope.
-
The hoodie would be a little too expensive...possibly I'll get the poster. Did Julien-K live move to Europe for good? Or just recording there??
-
Sounds like a DVD title to me for some reason...maybe they'll finally release a DVD like Frat Party for the ATS cycle, that'd be amazing.

Muse actually uses guitar and drums. And has a singer that didn't use to rap and then suddenly became a singer. Chester is the fucking lead singer, not Mike. Mike sounds so bad when he sings, I have no clue why the rest of the band would even allow to him to sound like shit on songs like BITS, Iridescent, Blackout, etc. Leave that to Chester. Don't compare Muse to LP.

I'd have to say my favorite shows I have been to have been the special ones. Bamboozle 2007, NYC 2010 (ATS Release Show) and Edgefest in 2008. The sets were all just really good and the band had a lot of energy. And for some reason, the first two not being released as DSP's makes them more special to me for some reason...no clue why. My least favorite shows I have been to were probably Syracuse, NY in 2007 on PR, I barely even remember that show at all for some reason, and it was the most hillbilly place I have ever been to. Also, Hartford in 2008 on PR as well, for some reason, the band wasn't playing that well IMO, I actually got really dehydrated and left during SOTD, which SUCKS because they ended up bringing Chris out for his birthday and playing We Made It, and I was front row as well!!! I saw We Made It in Mansfield 2008 but it would have been better at Hartford since I was on the bar front row...

I think they will...sadly. LP is my absolute favorite band and always will be, I have two huge LP tattoos and a ton of Chester's tattoos (Don't hate in this thread). But I think they don't have a lot of music released that really IMPACTED the music scene and I'm not sure if they'll be in the 'fame spotlight' with their new direction. Even though the music is good and it sells, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be pop stars. If that makes sense. I think Hybrid Theory will be remembered for a long long time though.
-
That's not necessarily true... Minutes To Midnight sold a lot in the US, they got through 5 singles in the US (which Mike said was amazing at the PR show in Boston 2008) and they did a lot of US tours and show for MTM. ATS didn't do so well in the US but it did good in other countries, especially Europe, which is why the album was toured much more in Europe than in the US. It makes sense.

Announcement Service Public, Qwerty, Pale, Fear, Drum Song, No Roads Left, Across The Line, Blackbirds, What We Don't Know, and Pretend To Be and Not Alone were re-worked MTM songs. I want to hear some of the heavy songs that Chester talked about that were made for MTM.
-
I might order the zip-up hoodie and that poster... Anybody know how much both convert to in US?
-
No they're not. Given Up, Bleed It Out, No More Sorrow, What I've Done, etc, are rock songs.
-
None of you guys believe me, but wait until the first single comes out, and the album is released, and I bet my generalizations will be correct. Nobody wants to admit it. ATS is Linkin Park's new sound, the band has even said so. Chester said that MTM was the gap between their old sound and their new sound, and ATS is what the band made without any pressure and it's the album they wanted and love. Which means the follow up to ATS will sound like ATS because that is there new sound. I don't understand how Linkin Park went from being nu-metal, to a rock band (MTM) and now I don't even know what they are, I guess a pop band, but the music is pop without being pop. I don't understand it. I have tried to like ATS for a long time now but I just can't... and I'm just mad that the new album will probably sound like it, and we have no hope of another DBS album which sucks. Also, I don't want nu-metal!!! Everyone seems to think just because I don't like ATS I want a nu-metal album from LP. I just want an album with some rock songs, that is all.
-
I'm going, bought my tickets already. Can't wait. Flying down from Mass.
-
MTM had some songs that could be considered 'heavy' for Linkin Park. Given Up, Qwerty, No More Sorrow, Bleed It Out, and there are probably tons of others songs that were heavy that were never released. Those are all from the MTM process. So who knows. I just don't think LP will follow ATS with an album with rock songs on it.
-
Chester has held the scream live three different times!! First in Selma, Texas 2007 on the PR tour. Second in Columbus, Ohio 2008 on the MTM Arena Tour. And lastly in Montreal on the same tour.
-
I bet money it won't sound remotely close to Hybrid Theory, Meteora or Minutes To Midnight. But it will sound somewhat similar to A Thousand Suns. That's why I think that. Less guitar, means more electronic bullshit. It's obvious. Chester probably won't scream on this album at all. Mike probably won't rap much and will sing tons. I can tell it's not going to be what I want.
-
Imagine ATS and MTM mixed together, it would probably be the best LP album to date if that were to happen...
-
Chester's screaming is definitely different, even his singing is. If you listen to a performance of Faint from 2003/2004 and listen to a performance of Faint from 2010/2011, they sound way different, for example. Not that it's a bad thing, I'm just saying. And I think the reason Papercut still sounds so good is because it is one of Chester's favorite LP songs. I think he puts in way less energy into songs he doesn't like. I don't think he likes Given Up or No More Sorrow much anymore, the performances from this year are kind of weak. Given Up is one of my favorite LP songs of all time, but I think they will be dropping it from the sets soon, which saddens me...
-
The whole point I'm trying to make is... The songs don't have to be slow to be fucking different. LP should probably learn that and utilize that. I would have loved ATS if the beats were complex, or different, but most of the songs on ATS are really down tempo, slow beats, with depressing melodies, etc. I wouldn't even mind no heavy guitar or no raw drums if the songs were different, a few slow songs is ok, but if the whole album is just slow songs than it's really boring. When They Come For Me and Blackout are really good IMO, I love those songs. Wretches And Kings fucking sucks IMO. And the rest are slower songs, except for the Catalyst, but that's still kind of weird. It's not ''slow'' but it's not ''heavy'' like other songs.
-
Hell yeah, that's what I'm doing too. ATS sucks so much. I want a LP album where Mike raps, Chester sings/screams, there is actually somewhat heavy guitar, raw drums (not all electronic shit) and some scratching that isn't flashy like it is in ATS. I hate ATS because it's mostly very slow, boring songs, with singing from both Mike and Chester, no loud guitar AT ALL, the drums don't sound like rock drums, etc. I miss when Mike used to drop sick raps and then it was followed by Chester. A style like Bleed It Out, for example, it wasn't nu-metal and it had that. ATS is just beats and really mellow singing. LP could have a very unique, different sound while still having all those elements. I'm not asking for each song to sound like Hybrid Theory. Another thing, is that Chester and the rest of the band used to say they wanted the music to be different, but you can still recognize it as the Linkin Park you know and love. ATS is just the band trying to be way too different because they don't want people to label them. But ATS lacks the true heart of Linkin Park. It's very much a Mike Shinoda creation.... it feels like all the past LP releases were all collaboratively worked on by everyone in the band. Why have a guitarist or a drummer if you barely going to use non-computerized drums, and Mike could easily just do the guitar that the band is now doing. ATS sold shit compared to HT, MT and MTM. There is a reason for that. FM probably even sold more than ATS did. EDIT: I also wanted to add one more thing. When I say I want Brad to play more guitar, I don't mean just stuff he used to do on past albums. Imagine epic guitar solos. A FEW good solid rock hits. The world has been waiting for a ROCK HIT from LP for a long time now. Imagine nice, acoustic songs, that would be the shit. The whole point I'm trying to make is... why make the entire album just beats and slow singing, why not make all the songs different and solid.
