Hate coming for setlists,I don't think we should show hate, those who go to the show, enjoyed, band was in energy, they told us,"we'd never let fans make setlist",I don't remember when it was said, but a band member did,or it was adam who told us.I don't remember, they'll change in next tour, sit back,RELAX

I'm not "hating" on the setlist - it just seems odd that only a relatively small amount of LT is being put forward live.

it's been awesome to have good stuff like With You and APFMH back, and granted, I often forget how good the "usual" songs are (had a nice good listen to Rio n1 today - was great!), but yeah, the lack of stuff from LT, in shows that are promo-ing \Lt is just a little... odd.

like I said at the start, it would still not put me off seeing them live.

bitching about the band not changing? ok, but remember, LV hasnt gotten a full show during HCT, so just see it as a makeup show for not showing up near LV last summer. of course the encore is the weakest part of this set, but this doesnt do justice for complaining about a set including With You, POA and VICTIMIZED/QWERTY.. everybody went apeshit when with you and POA came back in 2012 and now, not even a year later, you bitch about a setlist with these songs getting played again in another continent? FUCK

most people here know me, i am usually the complainer #1 but this time i just cant resist to be defending a setlist for once. this set still fucks up every other setlist played between 2009 and 2011 for damn sure, huge pity about APFMH of course, but we cannot change this.

I guess what I really mean by all I've said is that LT tracks like I'll Be Gone and Powerless looked pretty certain inclusions in an LT-era setlist. most of the classics they've brought back are fucking cool - i'm just puzzled by some of the seemingly obvious songs that have been omitted.

I'm not expecting the show pages to suddenly read "13. Robot Boy / Roads Untraveled / Carousel ("Dat Shit Cray" mash-up) Ext. Intro; Chester Violin Solo; Ext Outro w/Across The Line vocal tease"

anyway, we're wandering into set-list syndrome, the show would have been bad-ass irrespective of what's been played.

to Aus/NZ!!

...

But this one fucking sucked! Besides COG and BIO this set doesn't have anything very original about it. By now they should know how hard it's going to be to please the more hardcore fans. Having the older songs have been AWESOME, but they're not doing anything with them besides playing them. They've upped WY and SIB with intros and outros, but nothing changed about it. It's getting old. Also they had like 3 months to rehearse SOMETHING or at least change the goddamn order of the songs in the set instead of using the SAME ONE they used for half of last year's shows.

Whoa lots of complaining from people who weren't even there. They put on a great show! More crowd interaction then I've seen them do in a long while. Including: A strip tease from Phoenix, Chester noticing his fly down after a while into the show and Mike making fun of him, Mike interacting with 70% of the barricade during ITE, Phoenix leaning over for fistbumbs, Brad kneeling down to sing with the crowd, Chester shaking lots of hands (mine included :P ), and Chester and Mike just talking to the crowd.

I didn't have internet access while in Vegas, but I did get tweets to my phone saying a new setlist for the night. Plus I met Sean the day before the show and he said a new setlist too. However, knowing the band I really wasn't expecting much of a change, and that opener was BADASS. Sure to LPL people the setlist is annoying, but I was limping after the show because I jumped so much, and my voice was horse from screaming. Whoever said they wouldn't go to this show even if their flight and ticket were payed for... well I would have gladly taken it.

Though to what LGraham was saying, I do think it's a bit odd that they have been dragging their feet about playing the rest of LT, ESPECIALLY since Mike said they purposely had the idea of live shows in mind while making it. I was praying for I'll Be Gone in Vegas, and not gonna lie, I'm gonna be pretty pissed if they get it overseas, especially since I'm not going to see another show till 2014 at the earliest. I still want them to play it though, and I'm glad I got to see COG live.

Also a bad setlist/encore? Please let me remind you of the 2011 show (from Houston).

As you can see they've gotten MUCH better. Odds are there won't even be a DSP from this show, so no one should be upset at the set. And they're not playing for the DSP listeners anyways, they're playing for the people who go to the show. And as a person at the show I pretty happy I went!

This is what I was saying,it's my dream to go in LP's concert, whatever kind of bada** setlist they play,I'm ok w/ it,LGRAHAM is kinda right, why aren't they playing more songs from "Living things"?you're not in a mood to promote your new record.fingers crossed for next shows, wonder what they'll play, whatever they'll be,Aussies & kiwis will enjoy the shows for sure

Not really surprised by the set, nor do I care much, really. They played a bunch of singles (shocker) and more of the same with LT material. If anything, Castle of Glass should have taken Lies Greed Misery's place as opposed to In My Remains. No comparison there. The thing that annoys me the most about this band is not their live show. Its the lack of live shows they have planned. Now granted, I don't know jack shit about what's going on with them. I can't see the band just bending over and asking their fans to kiss their ass and be grateful they get what they get. The fact that they're not touring for close to 6 months after this month means something. The fact that this soundtrack they're doing for Joe and The Mall is counting as a record under their WB contract doesn't surprise me one bit. They're more than likely trying to get out from under big business' thumbs, and do the bare minimum possible just to piss them off. (ie, lack of touring) I could also be completely wrong and they could be living like rich, lazy slobs because they're getting older and want to spend more time on other things and their families and friends. The one true thing I've discovered about being an LP fan is this... WE EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM THEM!!! I will happily admit that. No band's gonna release a record that's gonna satisfy everyone. No band is gonna create a live show that everyone will enjoy. (though I believe they could do a hell of a lot better and choose not to) If anything, they're starting to cave to us by releasing new material quicker like they promised. (finally) All in all, what this band has taught me is to not care so much. Listen to different artists, go to different shows, and stretch your interests, like they have clearly been doing for the last half a decade. Once you learn to care less, you'll be surprised by how much you'll enjoy the outcome, especially since you're not building up impossible expectations that are bound to disappoint... End rant!

I never thought about LP trying to piss off the label and just get out of the contract. I could totally see LP breaking free and doing whatever they want after that. I think that is when we will see the best work from LP. It all kind of makes sense now. They are touring way less now. No interaction with the crowds on recent tours. Not playing new stuff or bringing back really old stuff live. Stuff like that. I also did not know that they are counting Mall as a release. That is awesome. Fuck warner. I want LP to be independent.

The thing that gets me is - part of the writing process of LIVING THINGS was described as wanting to write a bunch of songs that would be fun to play live. So it's surprising that only just over half of the album has been played live at this point. In fact, it would almost appear as if the songs are actually more difficult to play in/transition to a live environment. I'm thinking of LIES GREED MISERY, SKIN TO BONE, and UNTIL IT BREAKS as the most likely examples of this.

I'LL BE GONE is probably the song that is expected to work well live.

Yeah I thought about that too. I can't see Roads Untraveled, Skin To Bone or Until It Breaks to work very well live in terms of the crowd going nuts but I think those are good songs, some of the best on the album. I'm just really surprised that songs like I'll Be Gone and Powerless have not been played yet. They seem like they would translate well live and I'll Be Gone is a rocker.

lol no crowd interaction to piss off the label, yeah that really shows them. And once again Warner is the root of all evil what we don't like about the band right now. And of course all that would go away once they are independent, yeah right, that's just wishful thinking. They played like half of the new album so far how is that rebellious of any kind? Playing 1 or 2 new songs only would be. Sorry but the piss of label theory doesn't make much sense to me. I'm not saying it's impossible but pissing off the fans is what they do if that was, according to the theory, on purpose. And that's not what they want.

LP going independent won't fix the fact that they simply do not give a fuck about live shows anymore. They're doing the exact same thing as Tool; doing a short string of shows, then another one months later with one or two songs swapped out, and then again and again.

I was excited for this album cycle way back in the summer, but now the amount of fucks I don't give is absolutely astounding.

boom!

If anything, having that sort of unique crowd interaction would blow away any set-list disappointments.

to me, that is worth way more than hearing a rare song.

That's why I liked the Best Buy Theater 2010 show so much! I hopped on a train from school to NYC, met up with my dad, ate Bubba Gump shrimp, hung out with LPxDC (who is legitimately my show-bro, he and I have seen big bands like LP, Slipknot, and Korn to small local bands and he even saw my band play to 12 people in a club), totally felt the adrenaline from the band, shook Mike and Chester's hands (don't take that for granted, ever), and stayed in a nice hotel. The setlist literally did not matter at that point, I got to see LP up-close-and-personal.

The past 3 LP shows I've seen have been nothing short of personal interaction with the fans. I was very fortunate to have meet & greets, the Summit, high-fiving Chester during Numb at the Bristow show, Rob pointing at me, etc. I'm astounded that everyone else seems to feel they've gotten the short end of the stick with LP shows. I've had amazing shows at every one since I was 13.

You know what would be great? If during their next album touring cycle they did what SOAD did. (and I believe Muse did this as well?)

They could put up a poll of all their songs (or at least the ones they could feasibly play live) and have fans vote on them for each show (or tour). The songs with the most votes will be added to the set therefore giving casual and hardcore fans a chance at being happy. Of course, the downside would be that since hardcore fans are the minority, we'd be out voted in every poll but I would wager that with all the fan sites in on the action, we could coordinate our votes and have an eclectic mix of songs added.

I fell in love with this idea during SOAD's comeback tour a couple years ago. The setlist turned out amazing and had such an awesome mix of singles and deep cuts.

In all honesty, if they JUST played the APFMH opener setlist, and played CoG in place of LGM and NOT IMR, I'd be happy. Like, not even have two setlists to rotate, just that one. I'd be good. Yeah, I'm disappointed in this set, but I'm not shocked or even the least bit surprised.

What I am truly disappointed in is that they specifically stated that they wrote LT with the live shows in mind, and Mike even made a little speech in Bristow about how they want to improve their shows and make them memorable. Which is awesome! Cool! Did they succeed? I think so. The sets are much more energetic and all that now (even though there are far too many singles in them, but that's another discussion). So, if they're at such a high point in a live setting, and seemingly WANT to play shows and make them exciting, then why are they playing such a small amount of shows? This really was a sad excuse for a touring cycle, and the sole reason for that is just the lack of touring all together. That's what I'm disappointed in here.

Other than the band stating on numerous occasions that they prefer to tour less, there's also the factor that they also have families. Although we are fairly well-informed whenever Chester has another kid on the way, the other guys are very quiet about their family lives. There's always that.

I think this entire album cycle has completely sucked ass.

ATS's music videos were incredible - all four of them.

LT's? Burn it Down was yet another performance video with the cheesiest effects I've ever seen in an LP video, and I watched In the End. Don't get me started on LITE. Castle of Glass was pretty much the only video I thought was any good.

The ATS touring cycle pumped out new formats for the shows because the music was so different, and hit all the major show spots, including Florida (even though I couldn't go).

LT? Honda Civic Tour that wasn't even twenty dates. That's it. Say what you want about incredible setlists - the American exposure was completely pathetic for an American band.

Granted, "setlist variation" tends to not be a thing for this band, or most bands - I understand that. But come on. The one show in America in 2013 and it's just a rehashed setlist with one song swapped in. That's ridiculous.

I would hope for them to move on from this cycle and try again next time, but I think I've become burned out on this band. That's not trying to be melodramatic or whiny, either - it's legit.
