Keep in mind a few things -

- MTV Unplugged ranges from 12-15 songs, not around 25, like a standard LP concert. Lets say the max is 20. AT MOST.

- While you may just pick your favorite songs, keep in mind how a song would sound acousticly. I'm sure a song like Little Things Give You Away would sound much better acousticly then, say, A Place For My Head. But, in complete contrast to what I said, don't pick all soft songs that would sound the same acousticly, every artist that appears on MTV Unplugged have a few reworked songs.

- (optional) some MTV Unplugged performances feature a guest artist. Nirvana featured The Meat Puppets, Korn featured Amy Lee and The Cure, and so on. So think of a guest artist they would have. Most likely someone they have worked with before, such as Jay-Z, Chris Cornell, Aaron Lewis, or maybe even Dead By Sunrise.

- (optional) choose a song order!

- Most artists actually DON'T played a setlist full of their greatest hits. Some may play some, but there are usually a few songs more a regular fan know then just someone who tuned in. Nirvana, for example, played only 1 "hit", Come As You Are. Alice In Chains performed a few hits like "Down In A Hole" and "Would?" but also played a few not-so-popular songs.

- Linkin Park DID play a couple acoustic songs at KRAQ Almost Acoustic 2001, Crawling, In The End, Pushing Me Away, and My December. So incase you can't think of anymore...

andddddd....that its!

Go for it! I'll have mine up after some deep thinking. :D

i dont think they should do an unplugged session. They rely heavily on electronic instruments for the most part. Joe will have o play XBOX.. oh wait thats unplugged too.

They only have like 5 songs that they can do without heavy changes and when they play my december its that new piano crap version, so i vote NO to unplugged

and besides, that is the POINT of MTV Unplugged. Neither Nirvana or Korn are acoustic bands, at all. And yet, they did it, and they did a pretty good job.

Not to mention I'm sure Joe would still be able to use his DJing stuff, unless he has a hidden talent under his sleeve. Just in a different manner.

anyways, here is what I thought of -

(no order)

Hunger Strike (Feat Chris Cornell)

Crawling (Feat Chris Cornell)

Pushing Me Away

Numb

My December

Breaking The Habit

The Messenger

Iridescent

Easier To Run

Shadow Of The Day

Leave Out All The Rest

Waiting For The End

From The Inside

Somewhere I Belong

Little Things Give You Away

Not Alone

There, I don't think any of them are too big of stretchs.

1. Valentine's Day

2. Waiting For The End

3. Crawling

4. Easier to Run

5. The Radiance (new piano version)

6. Burning in the Skies

7. When They Come For Me

8. Numb

9. Just Like Heaven (The Cure cover) [interlude]

10. Breaking the Habit

11. Pushing Me Away

12. The Messenger

13. Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover)

14. My December (piano version)

15. Iridescent

I included a couple of covers since it's supposed to be a special performance. When They Come For Me was included because I could see them doing a really cool percussion-based version of that song. The songs broadcast for TV would be:

1. Waiting For the End

2. The Radiance (piano version)

3. Burning in the Skies

4. When They Come For Me

5. The Messenger

6. Iridescent

I chose these since it's the ATS touring cycle.

1. Valentine's Day

2. Waiting For the End

3. Breaking the Habit

4. Blackout

5. New Divide

6. In Between

7. In Pieces

8. Don't Stay

9. In the End

10. Points of Authority

11. Rolling in the Deep (Adele cover)

12. Faint

13. Iridescent

14. The Messenger

15. Leave Out All the Rest

16. Crawling

17. A Place For My Head

Songs brodcasted:

Waiting For the End

Breaking the Habit

Don't Stay

Faint

Iridescent

Leave Out All the Rest

01. Breaking the Habit

02. Pushing Me Away

03. Iridescent

04. My December

05. Robot Boy

06. What I've Done

------------------------

07. Leave Out All the Rest

08. The Messenger

------------------------

09. Papercut

10. Points of Authority

11. Somewhere I Belong

12. Burning in the Skies

13. Nobody's Listening

14. Shadow of the Day

15. Numb

16. Crawling

17. In the End

18. The Little Things Give You Away

The first 6 songs would be piano/vocal duets by Mike and Chester. The next 2 songs would be acoustic guitar and vocals only (Mike/Chester on LOATR, and either Brad/Chester or Chester alone on The Messenger). The last 10 songs would be with the full band.

Bands that do Unplugged tend to do some unexpected stuff, so I think it would be a good time to break out that "stripped down" version of Robot Boy they've mentioned as a potential live option in the past, and bring back a few oldies (Nobody's Listening is the big one, I've always felt that a tribal-sounding acoustic version of that song would sound REALLY good).

I like your set I agree with it.

I know both Chester and Mike really like Arcade Fire, and their music is perfect for Unplugged sessions. Stripped down version of Robot Boy. The Piano version of Iridescent that Mike seemed very excited to do in that one LPTV episode.

Hands Held High would be an interesting one. There's two ways they could go about doing it. A more full band version, with guitar, drums, etc. Or, a piano version. Mike's delivery on the raps could sound really great and powerful, almost like spoken word poetry. Hell, maybe even forget the piano and let Mike perform it solo.
